Think of how much the regional broadcasts must cut into the numbers of 1st round broadcasts in the playoffs. Also think of how little the regional broadcasters actually earn from advertising versus other revenue in the first place. They're earning this kind of money just from a single state, imagine how much they get from their entire network of RSNs.
