Honestly, I see it.
He's pretty weak for a DE, relies on speed but he isn't much faster than NFL caliber O-lines.
His play speed is a lot higher than his 40 time, though.
He's coasted through more on his frame than his technique.

Why do people think that the browns will get a top pick from their eagles trade?
The eagles traded up yes, but they vastly improved in coaching while retaining all talent having an okay draft for depth and rotational pieces, and the influx of talent from early rounds this year was relatively very weak most top candidates drafted from every position has big flaws (tunsil -weed then a very huge power gap for other OTs, jack and smith injuries, vh3 short, Ramsey more of a safety because he isn't that great at man coverage, Elliot only good HB then a power gap etc etc)
The browns 2nd first round pick of 2017(from Philadelphia) will be in 16-32 guaranteed
Also more progression on the template should be done by tomorrow

I'm tired of these templates. It makes no sense to have 4 tiers on either side. It's basically impossible for it to follow a sensical distribution.
Let's assume our top tier must have at least 3 QBs. Let's assume it has the minimum, 3 elite QBs. The great tier must have more than the elite tier, so it gets 4 (the absolute bare minimum is 1 greater; we should do better). The good tier must have more than the great tier, so it gets 5. The top half of the average tier should have more than the good tier, but it can't because 3+4+5=12, so there are only 4 left.
A 3 tier top half scale is much better.
3 elite
5 good
8 (top half) avg

1-3. Elites/current absolute best (Rodgers, Brady, dr00)
4-8. Great but not elite (Big Ben, Rivers, Palmer)
9-12. Good but not great (Dalton, Stafford)
13-16. Slightly above average (Flacco, Bortz)
17-20. Slightly below average (Tannehill, Meme Smith)
21-24. Backup at best (Foles, Taylor)
25-28. Just plain bad (Bradford, Hoyer)
29-32. Fuck-awful (Kaep, [Browns QB])
Those ratings aren't perfect of course, just examples.

honestly not feelin it
Putting in just a couple in each category should make it easier to show clear differences between tiers, but I see Bortles, Stafford, Dalton, and Flacco as basically one big group.
And if we fill it out more it gets uglier:
1-3: Rodgers, Brady, Wilson
4-8: Brees, Roethlisberger, Romo (big assumption on health, I know), Palmer
9-12: Dalton, Newton, Stafford, Rivers
13-16: Carr, Cutler, Taylor, Bortles
17-20: Flacco, Winston, ?, ?
etc.
I think it's overly divided. I see basically no difference between Flacco and Stafford, yet they end up two tiers from each other.
1-3: Wilson, Brady, Rodgers
4-8: Romo, Roethlisberger, Palmer, Brees, Newton
9-24: Rivers, Carr, Stafford, Bortles, Flacco, Dalton, Winston, Ryan, Cousins, Cutler, Taylor, Manning, Luck, Mariota, Bridgewater, Smeth
25-29: Sanchez, Kaepernick, Jets, Osweiler, Tannehill,
30-32: Browns, Goff and Wentz automatically
I honestly like this a lot better.
When are they going to fix the game so random scrub QBs can't pass for 4,000 yards and 30 TDs anymore (literally hall of fame numbers 10 years ago)

Theres no doubt these players have ability on their own, but it's the Brady dynamic that makes them play literally at their highest potential, much like any receiver Brady plays with, if you pair him with a hall of fame caliber receiver like Randy Moss, well you already know what happens.

It's kind of a personal record don't you think?
>>67360316
Doesnt he currently lead all QBs in NFL history for passing yards per game?
>>67360361
Brees has 1.4 on him
twice a year
>>67360266
If anyone is moving up it's Palmer. He had great numbers in 2015 despite a much worse o line. His targets were significantly better, but not enough to offset the o line discrepancy, and it's not like Brees had no one to throw to. Colston was acceptable, and Cooks is quite good.
>>67360316
Stafford has to keep up with his current average (279.3 yards per game) for about 10 and a quarter seasons to pass Peyton's record. And of course not get injured from now until he's 38 years old.
>>67360181

Just saiyan, don't bank on it. What will be your face if Eli throws 15+ picks, for example, and the Giants miss the playoffs?
>>67360660
Works for Matt Stafford, why not Eli?
>>67360663
First, his INT numbers have also been decreasing and with the added talent and McAdoo coaching the offense, I don't really see why he would throw 15+
Second, he threw 14 and the Giants could have mad the playoffs, so it really wasn't Eli's fault as Eli doesn't play off defense
Third. he threw 16 picks in 2011 and won the SB

*2016
Daily reminder that the jags are going to win the AFC south.
Bortles is going to have a true monster year with an increased completion percentage and less ints because of the balanced running attack that will be at his disposal.
The defense with the additions of Jack, Ramsey, Jackson, Gipson, amukamara, and the return of fowler will launch the jags past the middle of the pack when it comes to defending the pass.
This is it boys. The year we've been waiting for. Clots are shit. Titsan are shit. Toxins are okay.
But the jags?
They are going to fucking dominate.
>>67360761
It tells me he doesn't have the ability to play through an injury.
Also, Eli also suffered a shoulder injury, in 2007, you know, the year he won the SB. Something Stafford will never do and something the Lions have never seen.,
>>67360727
Let me tell you, it was not average.
Furthermore, the Chargers had legitimate competition in their division. The NFC East, as per usual, was won by a poor team only because the average quality in the division was even lower. They also lined up against the NFCN and AFCN, which both sent two teams to the playoffs.
>>67360733
Tells me that Stafford has a bad offensive line and took 1 huge hit that separated his shoulder?
>>67360799
Tells me that Stafford can't play through pain. And if you can't play through pain, how can you win a SB?
>>67357813
I watched him play against OU and he went off on us. His catch radius is fucking massive. I was shocked that he didn't get drafted but I think he might have some off the field issues. That's how he ended up at tulsa in the first place

When you compare missing Brady for the first four games to the amount of injuries that ravaged the team last year, it's not that big of a deal.

current career passing yards leaders, age 30 or under
Matt Ryan (30) -- 32,757
Matthew Stafford (28) -- 25,976
Cam Newton (26) -- 18,263
Andy Dalton (28) -- 18,008
Ryan Tannehill (27) -- 15,460
Mark Sanchez (29) -- 15,126
Andrew Luck (26) -- 14,838
Sam Bradford (28) -- 14,790
Russel Wilson (27) -- 13,974
At their current paces over the past 3 seasons (4.3k-4.7k a season), Ryan and Stafford both would eclipse 73k career yards by the end of their age 39 season.
Cam is also on a historical pace but the style of football he plays doesn't typically lend itself to a very long career. Nobody else youngish really comes close to Stafford and Ryan when it comes to yards per season. Luck would have to pick up the pace again and have his 2nd career 4.5k+ season next year to catch up again.
>>67360907

>>67360950

>>67360838
Nah both are decidedly above average. Eli will make the hall of fame probably, if anything because of muh Manning legacy and a couple of rings thanks to defense.
>>67360936
The defense still can't close out games which is the main problem. Think back to 2012 when the Falcons were true contenders, Ryan had 7 game winning drives. They had the ball last and closed out games with offense. Part of that was good clock management, a lot of that admittedly was luck.
The defense made huge progress last season (from worst to 16th) but next season's schedule is rough as fuck. I predict a losing season, probably 7-9 or something.
2017 is the year they've got marked. If the defense will ever git gud they'll be in their prime that year, along with Julio, Freeman, and Ryan.
>>67360950
He was drafted just a year after Ryan IIRC, 2009, but he entered when he was like 20 years old or something.
>>67360895

Did you read what I said? If his team routinely misses the playoffs he could still be elite, but the saints would have to score as such. Combine that with the fact he has a decent supporting cast on offense. Meanwhile, in 2015 it was basically a miracle every time Brady or Wilson got a pass off.

He's been around a while and his stats are fairly solid for the most part though. Getting cut by the >oranges is pretty bad though, who are they replacing him with?

This is the difference between greater and better
more rings usually means someone is greater than someone else, i.e. Philip Rivers v. Eli Manning or Brady v Peyton Manning, but better is more often used when judging skill. It is rather hard to explain this, can anyone else help me phrase this better?
>>67369094

maybe you should TRADE UP IN THE 2ND ROUND TO DRAFT A KICKER
>>67369605
y'know, considering the new rules regarding kickoffs, connor barth's weak legs, and the fact that the bucs attempted the 2nd most FG's last season with a top 5 missing percentage, i don't hate the move
all they did was trade away the fourth rounder that their earlier trade with chicago allotted them.

Aaron Rodgers
Guys, quick question here, field goals are an essential part of the game. Why don't football teams scout specifically for a 7'5 and taller field goal blocker? It would be hard as shit to kick with him going up to try to block the kick
>>67371745
how many 7'5 centers do you know play football
idiot
>>67371745
Because 7'5 people are rare and they'd still need the power to push their blocker down AND speed to even have an impact
>>67371745
That's stupid, try jumping over the blockers. Collins already did it.
>>67371773
Im not talking about a center, I'm talking about a guy who stands behind the line of scrimmage, comes up behind the lineman, and jumps.
>>67371827
not always as successful
>>67371837
Most important thing when blocking a FG is speed.
>>67371745
if you look at a well-kicked field goal from the ground level, it becomes apparent that getting closer to the kicker is much more important than getting higher into the air
the only time a field goal ever gets blocked by a tall dude jumping at or near the line of scrimmage is when the kick was really low
the best kick blockers are guys who can get into the backfield as fast as possible
>>67371745
This is on par with "why don't they just a sign a huge fat guy to play the hockey goalie" when it comes to retarded questions.
>>67371916
Imagine a 7 footer who can jump and reach 12-13 ft, that would be pretty fucking hard to kick over.
*****BREAKING NEWS*****
The Cowboys will not put Jaylon Smith on IR because he will be able to play this season when the Cowboys make the playoffs!

>Imagine a 7 footer who can jump and reach 12-13 ft
his poor knees, hes in the wrong sport
>>67372066
Pretty much, but it would be hard to convince him to go away from basketball, you need someone with a little less skill in basketball so he'd take the money offered by the NFL.

>>67372127
Wilt Chaimberlain played basketball for awhile and could get the top of the backboard. He was also an athletic freak, once in a generation type guy.
This 7 footer thing is actually kinda interesting. Curious as to why their isnt a designated blocker on ST yet. It would be a game changer. Just get the college kids that fail out of the NBA and sign them for more money than Euro league basketball teams offer them.

Speaking new roles on special teams, how long have they been having a gunner run down field on punts, not to tackle, but to stop the ball before it goes in the endzone, to prevent a touchback? I feel like that wasnt a huge role (or even an existing one) like 5 years ago
>>67372174
I watched like 7 of his games (full play, not highlights).
What I noticed:
- really athletic, but pretty raw
- fantastic coverage, as good as I've seen from a linebacker. But being a great coverage LB doesn't warrant a top 10 pick
- he can't pass rush worth shit, really completely useless for pass rushing purposes
- pretty mediocre in run defense
Combine that with the injury concerns, he doesn't seem such a great player. I don't even remember the hype earlier than three or four months ago, but then media started hyping him up and retards just lapped it up. The same with Carson Wentz, by the way.
>>67372142
You disgust me.
>>67372286
>being a great coverage LB doesn't warrant a top 10 pick

What will your reaction be when The Dallas Cowboys hoist lombardi #6 this February?
>>67372384
I'll wake up from that horrible nightmare
From some insider ESPN shit that I'm not even going to fully read.
>"Me telling you they are not going to repeat is not a huge deal," one NFL coach said. "I am telling you it is going to be a complete strain."
>Elway and the Broncos have often gotten the last laugh in these discussions. They can do it again eventually if Lynch develops into the quarterback they think he can become down the line. Can they contend in the meantime?
>"No," a veteran coordinator said. "They will win maybe 10 games, and they will get beat in the playoffs as soon as they have to throw the ball to win."
its like last year didn't happen. Sure, it might be tough to do it again, but to pretend its impossible is foolish considering we all witnessed it a few months ago.
>>67372312
Nope. How many pure coverage LBs have went in the top 10? Kuechly for example while great in coverage was also a fantastic run defender.
>>67372384
My reaction will be laughter at Tiki waking up from his wet dream
>>67372286
>The same with Carson Wentz
woah, woah, woah
where'd that come from all of a sudden?
>>67372453
Wentz went from a "he's pretty damn good for a FCS guy" to HE'S ANOTHER ANDREW LUCK in the span of like two weeks, it's mind boggling.

Yeah, that was just the pundits trying to hype up what was a very lackluster draft.
>>67372481
whatever happened to Kellen Moore? his team did well against P5 schools too, but hasnt really panned out in the pros. is it just because he's "short" and wentz isnt?
>>67372384
Don't give a shit as long as it is not the Pats.
>>67372286
Myles Jack has been hyped as a top player since the 2014 season and people knew he was ridiculously talented during 2013 as a freshman 18 year old playing RB and LB.
>>67372481
I have not seen a QB jump that high up the boards after they've played their last game.
>>67372675
>he was ridiculously talented during 2013 as a freshman 18 year old playing RB and LB
iirc he won both the offensive and defensive ROTY in the pac-12 that season, so it's not just hype. dude can play when healthy.
Is Jordan Reed the best route running tight end in the NFL?
>>67372613
He's the back up on the Lions or Cowboys if I'm not mistaken?
>>67372758
no that's Gronk
>>67372828
I said "route runner" Gronk doesn't really even have to run routes to get open
>>67372814
last I checked, he got a game for the cowboys last season after romo, weeden, and orton all went down. he was 3rd string on the lions behind shaun hill before that, I dunno where he's at now. he probably isn't going to catch on anywhere even with the chance he got to show he can play.
>>67372865
Shows your lack of understanding. Gronkowski is an excellent route runner. No matter how athletic he is he needs great route running because the o line couldn't hold a pocket for 2 seconds in 2015.
>>67372924
Didn't Orton retire on the razors?
