If you remove the rule, you'd probably get opposing players just camping out by the goal post. There would probably need to be some "you can't spend more than X amount of time near the goal if the action isn't X amount of yards from it" and that's just cumbersome.

No ties

Clock stops running when ball is out of bounds.

Teach players to shoot. Seriously, last time I watched the world cup about 40% of shots missed the goal entirely. You hardly even need a goalie.

The game has Hockey like substitutions but those can only occur during play and not during breaks in play where the ball goes out or a GK. Teams could choose to do full lines or sub one player off on a time. This would lead to fresher legs and potential openings for higher scoring.

That would never work though. Nobody's going to accept a global cap, and so long as there's differences in the leagues' caps, there'd still be players gravitating towards leagues, instead of teams. Not to mention the money not spent on wages, would just go straight into transfer fees.

If you take away the sponsors from the kits or from the boards on the sides of the pitch, you'll have to insert them somewhere else, like in a commercial in the middle of the match that will obstruct the view. That "Fly Emirates" on Real Madrid's kit is worth dozens of millions of Euros, and I rather see them wearing the logo on their kit rather than watching an ad telling me how wonderful their A380s are, every ten minutes on my TV.

Most commercial breaks occur during breaks in gameplay, turnover, scoring play, challenged call, half time, quarter time, ect. There are a couple of commercial breaks per game in order to meet advertising quota, but at that point it's either have that break or display the logo everywhere.

A sports league w/out advertising doesn't exist.

I'm not sure i understand what you are trying to say? I'm not talking about whether the MLS is shit or something along the lines of 'stop liking things I like'. By simply reading this thread you can see a majority of American flags bitching about the sport and wanting to turn it into baseball/basketball/American football. How is that a solution for anything?

H-Here I go

I welcome hate.

Except when we do share the toy, you complain that it's fucking shit and needs a lot of fixing (and by "fixing" you mean making it fucking unusable), even though you already have several toys of your own that you like and play with all the time and don't really need this particular European kid's toy to be happy, and neither does he want you to "make it better" because he's happy with it already too.

What I'm getting at precisely is the "majority", as you put it, isn't everyone. Some of us know the sport well and the rules and are fans of teams ( even if some aren't the 'level' of EPL , Bunde etc ). But instead of letting us in on discussions etc, the option is becoming more of a blanket NOPE for the entire country.

There's equal blame on both sides for this coming about, but I expected better rationale from my European counterparts as the elders of the sport. Maybe I expected too much.

As an aside, the MLS thread pic was just to have an image. It's pretty irrelevant to the topic.

Well you are right I suppose. No shame in acknowledging it. Maybe it's because football-loving americans are such a small group compared to the americans hating the game. Sorry for generalizing my statement Ameribro.

AMERICAN STADIUMS: JUMP UP AND DOWN AND CLAP TO COMMERCIALS

https://youtu.be/tODlPxhbGF8

CANT MAKE THIS SHIT UP

People in the US aren't passionate about sports at all. They all "follow" a team in each sport just so they can check the score and be part of a "cool" conversation.

In the rest of the world you have one team you support from when you're a kid to when you die. Through thick and thinn, Americans will never know the emotions.

Fucking numale faggots
>>
First half of season is one fixture against all the teams in domestic league.

For the second half, Top 4 go through to European league with 16 others top team across Europe. One fixture round robin to decide best team in Europe.

Other 16 teams are joined by top 4 in league below, and it's a one fixture round robin to decide who gets relegated, and who is the next best team in the country.

Adds a bit of excitement for the smaller teams to try and win the league without the top 4 dominance. Plus the European league would be awesome.

schedule balance is literally the best thing about most soccer leagues: you play every other team twice: once home, once away

if you chop off half that schedule, then all the stupid arguments about "we had to play at Old Trafford and Chelsea didn't, we're the better team WAHHHHHHHHHH" will overwhelm everything else

>Making the goalkeeper box curved or half circle.

Simply put players are abusing the extremities of the box.

It seems nowadays in football any movement in the box counts for "a goal scoring opportunity" even if the player who has been fouled is moving away from goal. So they charge in, go down and hope for the best.

See pic related.

I'd be more inclined to believe that a player being fouled at the circle position was indeed at a goal scoring opportunity. Yet players can also be awarded with penalty at the triangle location.

Lets not forget that the penalty kick conversion rate in football is around 80%

But what about goalkeepers? Keepers very rarely "play" in those areas. Most saves or ball handing is done within the half circle. So who is the massive box really for?

>>67311293

>Introducing the blue card to 11 a side games
>Doesn't work well in a sport with limited substitution

How so friend?

I've witnessed many situations where a blue card would have been more suitable than a yellow. One example would be players taking one for the team. Stopping a counter attack with a cheeky tackle because they were positioned badly. Why should the team be allowed to still have 11 men on at that time, especially if said tackle forced an unwanted sub? Players welcome yellows, even patting the ref on the shoulder sometimes. They would not welcome a 5min sit out.

Once again I welcome criticism.

Have a TMO like in Rugby, if you have that then you can give the correct call when dealing with dives/fouls and you wouldn't need goal line technology. Plus stop the clock when dealing with such and there would be no need for extra time.

>>
I've on watched soccer like twice but why is the bonus time at he end so weird? It seems like officials just kind estimate how much extra time is needed. Can't they have an actual clock running?
>>
>>67313656

it's left up to the referees discretion and it;s time added on for stopped play like injuries, substitutions etc. If a stoppage occurs during the game, like an injury for example, you will often see the ref look at his watch, then do so again when play restarts, that's him taking a mental note of how much time to add on.

>>
>>67313688
That make sense. I just think they should probably have a more official clock for that kind of thing.
>>

Agreed, but football in many cases is still an old stubborn sport which refuses to adapt. Look how long it took goal line tech to be introduced.
>>
>>67313656
>>67313688

Honestly, there's little defense for the practice other than "that's the way it's always been done."

Not gonna lie, when I was a ref (youth and high school level) I just stopped my watch during substitutions or major injuries and restarted it when it play resumed.
>>
>>67313725

Well I don't think that will ever happen because it might be seen as being overly officious and football is a game that is supposed to flow. 'Supposed to' being the operative words.
>>
>>67313763

Some refs actually do that, you can actually see them hitting the stop button on their watch.

>soccer is broken guys the same teams always win

Double the size of the goal....

Or,

- Instead of a red card from two yellows, it should be an automatic goal revocation. If you have 0 goals on the sheet, then it results in a player dismissal. An instant red would still result in dismissal.
- Each goal should be worth a point, meaning if you want to get somewhere you can't sit on your backside and keep it at 0-0.
- Failure to move the ball progressively forward within a certain time span should result in an indirect free kick for the opposition within the conceding teams half.
- If the ball is passed back to the keeper more than once within 30 seconds, free kick to opposition.
- Yellow card for more than 1 offside. So 4 offside plays in a game results in a double yellow, and a goal revoked.
- Player caught diving results in a penalty for the opposing team plus instant dismissal.

I could keep going.
>>
it's really fucking simple

yellow card = 10 minute suspension

and add a 30 second shot clock so no tiki taka bullshit
>>
>>67315192
Alternatively, a 0-0 scoreline = 0 points for both teams. The rest carries on under the normal points system.
>>
>>67301707
>Make flopping an offense with the penalty being immediate ejection
>>
>>67315247
I like this. Although for the size of the pitch I would increase shot clock to between 45-60 seconds.
>>
>>67315270
This is more or less a rule in the PL, but you get a yellow rather than a straight red.

That's why Vardy has been banned recently. Got a second yellow for diving against West Ham.

Those damn La Liga fags are so convincing at it though, so it's hard to officiate. I bet they fucking practice it.

No inury time.
A player who extends a foul play by laying down should be yellow/red carded unless he sustains a considerable injury.
Every play that leads to a penalty should be reviewed.
