I made a narrow 4-2-3-1DM that works really well; scores nice goals at times, but has general weaknesses and won't walk the league. Players aren't just going to rigidly follow your instructions 100% of the time because that would be extremely predictable, they are occasionally going to do their own thing and dependent on things like Decisions it may not always be a good idea.
You can tell your team to be more disciplined so they follow your instructions more but they still won't do exactly what you tell them all of the time.
