When was the last time >we were ridiculed for trying to make an unrealistic signing?

I mean we may laugh at United's absurd bids under Moyes and LVG but they end up with world class players anyway, even if they waste on a Memphis occasionally.

Suarez WOULD have joined if given the freedom.
Cabaye WOULD joined if the bid wasn't absurdly low. After those, nothing.

I mean just poke around, bid for someone who would actually improve the club. There are ambitious deals happening all the time, just look at Kingsley Coman. No need to wait until Real offers us some reject.

Post yfw Wenger dies
>>
>>67195816
Doesn't mean we can't fucking improve.

We 100% should've won the title this season and we blew it.

We have the likes of Petr Cech, Mesut Ozil, and Alexis Sanchez and we're STILL struggling to finish in the same positions we finished in 5 years ago with the likes of Bendtner, Djourou, and Alex Song. Our current team is marginally better than our team from a few years ago yet we're still finishing in the same positions.
>>
>>67195816
This.

We are a upper mid table club and we have done well to finish 3rd/4th so many times in the past 10 years. We are punching above our weight and Wenger deserves all the credit in the world.

It's easy to say "Why didn't we sign X" or "Why did we sign Y when Z went to Man United/Chelsea/City" and so on but if you take a second to unplug your Football Manager game you'll realise that reality is very different.
>>
>all the AKBs are ABAs now
>>
>>67195657
This is very very true.

Part of the reason we're doing so badly is because our home atmosphere is fucking awful. Part of the blame definitely needs to be attributed to the fact that the Emirates is a fucking library. We need to sort it out because it's an absolute disgrace that such a beautiful stadium with such a huge fanbase is so fucking silent 99.9% of the time.

But it didn't cost us the title. The mental and psychological issues that plague the squad thanks to the shit manager and the shit staff (medical staff, psychology staff, etc etc etc) cost us the title.
>>
>>67195872
>We 100% should've won the title this season and we blew it.
The same could be said of

Spurs
City
United
Liverpool
Chelsea

>muh Ozil, Cech, Sanchez
So what? Other clubs have just as much quality if not more. Mahrez won player of the year ahead of Ozil. de Gea is miles ahead of Cech. Sanchez has been dwarfed by de Bruyne. etc. etc. etc.

It doesn't work that way. It's a complex game.
>>
>>67195901
Yeah but they weren't top of the table in the new year were they? Also everyone with a brain knew that United and Liverpool weren't gonna challenge with all the players they brought in. Le sign all the players maymay doesn't work.

What I'm saying is that we're bringing the players to the club and improving the team yet we're still not progressing.

I remember a few years ago we were wanking over the prospect of signing Lukas Podolski. We've brought players to the club that we would've dreamed of signing a few years ago. Obviously we look at these transfer windows and think "oh we're wank we're doing fuck all" but this team is SO SO much better than the team was a couple years ago. And we're still finishing in the EXACT same position.

I'm not saying I want us to be winning trophies all the time. I'm saying I want us to actually progress. I firmly believe that there is so much potential in this squad, and Wenger isn't using it fully.

Yeah nobody should take these AKB neutral QPR fans seriously, Wenger's constant failures have no effect on them whatsoever.
>>
>>67195969
>Yeah but they weren't top of the table in the new year were they?
So? It's a marathon not a sprint. United were top of the table after 10-15 games. It means nothing. It's a known fact that teams generally take until Christmas to find their way in terms of fitness etc.

>Also everyone with a brain knew that United and Liverpool weren't gonna challenge with all the players they brought in
United were easily favourites over Arsenal at the start of the season. Easily like it's not even close. Not sure where you're making this retrospective prediction from but I'm pretty sure it's your arse.

>What I'm saying is that we're bringing the players to the club and improving the team yet we're still not progressing.
Maybe the players you brought in, aren't as special as you think. As you said United and Liverpool signed lots of players and they didn't have the impact they expected. Same applies to you. You are not special.
>>
>>67196060
>United were easily favourites over Arsenal at the start of the season. Easily like it's not even close
Only to idiots/the media. Anyone who's watched football in the past few years knows that spending silly money on loads of players in one summer never works. I didn't think they'd finish top 4.

The issue is that our signings have had an impact. Ozil has been a great signing. Alexis has been a great signing. Cech has been a great signing. We still do the same shit. The squad has evidently improved yet there's no real progression being seen.
>>
Any AKBs left now that Wenger is blaming the fans for his failures?
>>
>>67196105

>>
>>67196105

Evidently not.

Man for man you are no better than United.
>>
>>67196109
Just look in this thread m8. There's a couple of retards who just said Wenger is right to blame the fans.
>>
2 or 3 signings can change a team boys. Chelsea 13/14 choked away the title. 2 signings of Costa and Fabregas and they stormed the league. Signings need to be made, not quantity but quality. We need to spot something early and go for it so they can have a preseason. A striker. A CDM and a CB. 2 or 3 squad players too.
>>
>>67196228
I'm WOB but the fans need to be blamed too we're absolutely disgraceful especially at home. Even when things are going well we just fucking sit there. Terrible atmosphere.
>>
>>67196105
>I didn't think they'd finish top 4.
Easy to say that now. They had an incredibly strong finish to last season and they improved in key areas over the summer. Most were predicting they would win the league and rightly so. They signed the best DM in the league and they signed the world class German World Cup and treble winning midfielder. All they were missing was a striker and Martial proved that he was that man.

United's squad currently is better than Arsenal's. The difference is Wenger is a better manager than van Gaal which is why they are edging it at the moment.

Under a competent manager (who would have signed players to cope with injury crises), this United side would win the league easily. Can't say the same about Arsenal. They are weak all over in terms of ability and mentality.
>>
>>67196228
he is absolutely right

david moyes took manure to 7th and the fans were still signing his name and going mental at every game right to the very end.

arsenal draw one game at home (being 1st or 2nd in the league) and the fans boo the players off the pitch. incredible.

Arteta was younger then though. When we signed him we had to push him back because he wasn't the same player, similar to what we've done with Santi in the past year or so.

When we first got Arteta he was fucking great at his job. He was a key player for us for the first 2 seasons of his Arsenal career and for good reason.
>>
>>67196446
but you can blame him for sigining an old player on the decline
>>
>>67196322
Who cares? The points are all true. It's easy to say it was wrong in hindsight but that was the general mood of literally everyone.

What's it with football fans and an inability to remember how things were in the past.

It's like those saying di Maria was obviously a shit signing, when the reality was he was one of the top 3-5 players on the planet. Similar level to what Suarez or Neymar is right now and at the time in was an incredible, ground-breaking transfer.
>>

>>
>>67196492
He was better than Bale and Benzema for Madrid. That cannot be disputed.

He was not as good as Suarez is now. I agree. But at the time he was similarly ranked. i.e. the top 3rd or 4th player in the world after Messi and Ronaldo.

It's the people acting as if it was "obviously" a terrible signing and it was always going to fail. And they predicted that Ashley Young would out play him in the EPL.

Same with Falcao. "Everyone could see he was past it" No, they fucking didn't. And neither did you.
>>
>>67196472
The points weren't right though anyone who thought that United were gonna even challenge for the title this season was deluded and stupid and hadn't learnt from the mistakes of seasons past.

This happens like every season how haven't people fucking realised yet? It's genuinely infuriating.

>club signs a massive amount of new first team players for huge money
>the media raves about how this new team will become a massive dynasty and no one will be able to compete with this world class squad
>season starts
>team plays poorly as there's so many new players and they haven't gelled with each other over the summer because they're not fucking superhumans
>media believes it was just a one-off, continues wankfest
>team continues to underperform because they still haven't gelled, the manager has to switch up the tactics to try and get results out of them even though they weren't even confident with the previous tactics, and confidence is extremely low
>team finishes the season as massive underachievers
>several of the big money flops leave in the following summer for massive losses, but several are also forced to stay as the club can't get them off their books
>club has to completely rebuild

That's really my main point.

At the time, Arsenal/City/Chelsea/Liverpool fans were shitting themselves. When it started to become clear things weren't working out (AS EVERYONE EXPECTED) they were relieved and euphoric.

That's what actually happened. But posters are making stupid, ridiculous claims like they saw it coming from the start and that it would never have worked out etc. etc.

Hindsight does not = foresight
>>
>>67196653
Tottenham, Liverpool twice in a row, Spurs, United twice in a row. even happened with QPR a few years ago when they signed Julio Cesar and shit, and Newcastle back when they signed all those French blokes.

And the Real team that won La Decima wasn't as good as it was hyped to be. Plus the only signings that really were involved in the team were Bale and Carvajal. The rest, like Illara and Isco and shit didn't do well at all. Isco found his form later on though.

When Chelsea first got their money football was different and maybe back then the big money thing could've been done in one season but now things are more competitive. You can't just sign a bunch of good players on paper and expect them to gel like it's FIFA career mode.

Also when City first got the money they tried le sign all the players and it didn't work. The City team that actually became successful was built over time.

By spending fuckloads of money every year until they were good enough to attract top players and then spent fuckloads on top players.

I was at that game, it was ridiculous and has been at most home games. >Plus the only signings that really were involved in the team were Bale and Carvajal. The rest, like Illara and Isco and shit didn't do well at all. Isco found his form later on though.
if you're talking about the signings from the summer window before that season, you may be right. but that is looking at it in a very narrow way(probably just to suit your argument) and those players were mostly signed to boost their domestic appeal. all the players who were key in that campaign came from big money signings starting from mourinhos first season with them. also, the only reason that madrid team(or the ones before them for that matter) didnt win more was because they literally had to compete with barcelona for every title and pot and that sounds like hell on earth because it is exactly that.

big money signings work if you have a good/great foundation for them and only do few every summer. madrid 08/09 didnt have the foundation for the big signings they made but they were lucky that those signings turned into the foundation in turn that allowed guys like modric and bale to add the extra they needed to win.

When you play away from home you have to deal with shit from the opposition fans, yet they go on a run, so no, it shouldn't let it affect them, if it does then it's their fault for being mentally weak.

I worked as a salesman for most of last year and at the office I used to undergo alot of trainning from special trainers and my manager, and one thing they all kept saying is this, There are two types of people in this world, ones who live by circumstance, and ones who create circumstance, you can go around blaming the connection, leads, or even your collegues if you don't close sales but at the end of the day that's not gonna make you money, so we always had to disregard excuses even if we were right. That's the mentality of a winner, that's the mentality they should fucking have, focus on the things they have control over and fucking perform, but when you have a toxic manager that cuddles you and spoils you and says everything is everyone else's fault, that's when the problem start to appear.
>>

If they could, they'd have some of their fans murdered every week just so they could have a minutes silence before every game and sing YNWA for all the world's media to cover.

It's their thing. Self-pity city.

You think that's the end of it now? Guess again. There will be petitions and campaigns now to get ""Justice"" for the families, compensation etc. Also criminal charges against the police, the government, the Sun etc. etc. etc.

It'll literally never end in our lifetimes. They will keep banging on about it until another tragedy occurs and they'll relish it when it does happen.

They are among the sickest and most disgusting fans in the world.

>>
Lol of course people are gonna be impatient if they get strung along for 8 years with mediocre squads, ridiculously bad signings and terrible tactics in Europe. There comes a time when enough is enough.

At this point Wenger thinks he is god/Sepp Blatter himself. While he has performed like a mediocre 2nd league manager considering his budget.

When all else fails and his precious useless 4th place is in danger he even starts blaming the fans now. If we had sane fans he would've been dragged out of the stadium by now. Seems there is NOONE inside the club that ever ciritizes Wenger since he always lashes out when he is given a tiny bit by the press, a scary thought, I guess that's the reason he pushes all old legends out instead of helping them on their coaching etc careers.

After RvP left and his 100% spot on 'letter' he made public, nothing has changed. If I were Özil and Sanchez I would gtfo sooner rather than later if they ever wanna play for something other than a useless FA cup. Playing behind a 10 mil Giroud must be painful when you know your club could easily afford a world class striker and play for titles.

I've been bored and scouting players on YouTube the past week or so

I have come to the conclusion that the best striker available at the moment, discounting the likes of higuain who would cost a truckload, is a russian lad by the name of Fyodor Smolov.

He's just had his breakthrough season after being on loan forever from I think dinamo Moscow. He signed for Kuban Krasnodor this season and has scored 14 goals and 9 assists. He's 26 years old, born in february

Obviously it's >the Russian league and he has only really just burst onto the scene but I think he has something special about him. He's 6'2", fast and a good dribbler with good technique. A lot of the inform strikers I have seen are either small and fast or tall and slow. Very few of them have good technique when striking a football and generally rely on their physical attributes to score goals.

The only exception I can think of to this rule is sturridge, who I would obviously prefer.

Of course this could all be absolute bollocks and he could be wank. What do russians think of him? I doubt we will even be looking at him but we were linked with kokorin in the summer
>>
>>67198258

this is exactly it. media-savvy home fans know the problems every year and every year those problems are unaddressed because wenger wants to look smart if they luckily win the league. this year it was clear to even the most retarded tabloid journo, pundit or casual fan - we needed a better striker to make the most of ozil's chance creation and a back-up DM to cover for coq; who himself was a wengerluck comes good episode.

and now the stats show it all. most chances wasted of any team, big dip in form when coq got injured and free signing flamini/fucking chambers was played there. EXACTLY what everyone said would happen happened because wenger is a stubborn french cunt. we were the only club in europe not to sign an outfield player in the summer.

Ozil is a decent player but he can't do everything himself, needs somebody who can deliver him the ball in a dangerous area before he can deliver that final touch of class. Wenger out seriously. Even if we're not the best side, the least the fans deserve is hunger and desire. Tottenham players are running through brick walls for Poch. Mourinho is the master of it. Even Van Gaal manages to rile his players up when he needs it the most. The man has lost touch with modern football. The players are tired of hearing him. If you're boss at work failed to meet targets for a few years, would you keep doing what he says?

Someone needs to kill Wenger today. We need violent protests.
>>
>>67223738
It will be violent after Norwich wins 3-0
>>
>Ramsey
ho boy time for no midfield again
>>
I'm trying to think of reasons why someone would play Ramsey over Wilshere but I literally can't think of any.
>>
When was the last time you believed in Wenger? Mine was when we beat City 3-0 in the community shield, I honestly thought that we would go somewhere that season.

>>
>>67221203
The game against United away is what destroyed everything.
>>
This is actually pissing me off desu. I need Ramsey to die.
>>
>>67221695
Trying to lift his spirits since he's the main striker. He tries his best always even if he is a donkey, it's not his fault that he can't do it alone.
>>
>>67223863
Not ramseys fault he is a winger being played centrally
>>
>>67223890
I dare you to say this to my face
>>
Arsenal are literally the same as Shaktar Donestk or Galatasaray.

Absolutely no chance of winning the CL but qualify every year and act like that's some kind of achievement
>>
>>67223914
Where do you live?
>>
>>67223923
At least Waxtap and Galatasaray win the league now and then.
>>
>>67223365
I'm not bothering with you, you probably never saw him play

>>67223368
>At the end
That's generous, he had a spark when he started but as soon as Gilberto was gone he deflated. Denilson was a massive liability, So far Lenny has provided the completely opposite - stability. You'll never see Lenny pull what Denilson did against Everton that one time.

>>
please win this one arsenal
at least this one ;_;
>>
>>67224262
Kinda hope we don't desu.

If we win the media will just be like "oh crisis averted Wenger will rest easy tonight knowing he's won back the support of the fans".

If we want Wonga out we need the media to keep piling the pressure on him.
>>
>>67224008
Elneny has played like 10 games for us, Denilson played 100.
Elneny hasn't even had time to have and good or bad games yet. He's just been average as fuck.
He could end up being better than Denilson but it's too soon to say. Right now they're on par.
>>
This is gonna be a really fucking hard match.

We've been in godawful form and Norwich basically need to win to keep their PL hopes alive.
>>
>>67224262
Seeing the line-up made me really want us to lose this one.
>>
>>67224311
I'm only watching to see the protest desu.

thats like everton saying "b-but we dont get relegated"

getting top 4 is the least you expect from arsenals squad

OZIL, SANCHEZ AND CECH

i feel like arsenal fans dont realise how fucking good these players are
>>
>>67224565
They aren't that good

And they are 3 players out of 11
>>
Want us to lose but I want Giroud to score desu. Hopefully it ends 1-2 to Norwich.

>we did not have that cutting edge and, uhhh, they were fighting all the way, and with a moment of brilliance.
>>

You think potchetino or klopp wouldnt have won the league with arsenals squad?

arent that good but walk into 99% of top teams
>>
>>67224311
Lad, it's Norwich.
>>
>>67224307
>Elneny has played like 10 games for us, Denilson played 100.
That's fair enough, but remember the people I was responding to were saying he's another Denilson. That is equally presumptuous.
>right no they're on par and he's been average
He hasn't put a wrong foot in
>>
A comfy win would be nice for a change
>>
>>67224631
We need more than somebody who can just not make mistakes. We need somebody who can change games

Leaving aside the players returning from injury (Wilshere, Cazorla) and players who forgot to retire (Arteta) this right here is almost Arsenal's Best XI.

I don't see why people are bitching. The only way this could be improved would be Ramshit out for Coquelin.
>>
>>67224741
Did they smell nice?

nice. what did they smell like? did anyone spot you?

Ramshit out for Jack/Cazorla
Elneny out for Coq
Iwobi out for Joel

was disappointing, they were new so didnt smell of anything but the new shoe smell

my friend who works at the gym told me to sniff them

he's one of the best managers you've ever had retards, do you want to end up like united post-fergie?

Everyone's supposed to hold up banners and posters together in the 12th and 78th minute I think, Not sure what else

Arsenal have dropped 16 pts from winning positions this season

Our attack may have been pretty poor but the defence has let us down just a much

Keep half of those points and we'd be in 2nd
>>
>>67224917
A chance created is any pass that leads to a shot

You can't tell anything from it

dumb anime poster. Go back to your faggy containment board and stay there
>>
>>67224937
kos, per, gabriel, bellerin and even cech fucked up this season, and they got little to no protection from the midfield to begin with

a little bit better now with elmemey and cazorla making his return soon, but still
>>
>>67224946
Well, you can, but the fact he takes set pieces severely dilutes its meaning when comparing him to other players in the squad and league
>>
>>67224946
Considering that Arsenal always walk it in, you bet it was clear cut.
>>
>>67224971
you are retarded
>>
>>67224937
Doesn't help against the shit we lost to
- Choking away a 2 goal lead to West Ham to go behind to 3-2 in 10 minutes to Carroll (-2)
- Conceding a last minute injury goal to Liverpool for the 2nd straight season (-2)
- Choking a lead to WBA (-3)
- Choking home lead to Swansea (-3)
- Choking home to Palace (-2)
- Losing lead away to Norwich (-2)
14 pts from winnable games

Ozil has created more clear cut chances than any other player in Europe

Arsenal just have the lowest clear cut chance conversion around
>>
hello is this the game thread?
>>
>>67225066
>Ozil has created more clear cut chances than any other player in Europe

only because Messi spent a lot of time injured, Messi still has a higher chances created/game than Ozil

not that it matters without anyone competent and in-form to finish those chances
