I really don't know if young players recover from it. I've seen guys who were constantly getting maimed when they were 16-17 be more reliably fit by the time they turned 20, but I have no idea if that's common, if it's just to do with them getting stronger through training, etc.

Honestly, the major factor is that I was really, really, unlucky with injuries and still am. I'm playing with different tic-tacs but It's not really working atm. Most of my players are only rated for league 1 footy and my wage budget is slim compared to the rest of the league.
I'm at ~400k per month. Some players that I wanted to bring but was ultimately unable to demand up to 70k per month. I have the smallest salary budget in the league and it's almost half that of the 2nd smallest in the league (Millwall)
