-Luis Suarez is the best striker in the history
-Verratti is one of the best midfields in the world right now, will probably be the very best in a few years
-Pirlo and Gerrard are the most overrated players of the 21st century
-Xavi wasn't really good apart from passes
-Drogba was barely better than your average striker
-Valdes was dogshit
-WC 2006 was the most boring WC I have seen (I saw 1994, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010 & 2014)
-Torres was a walking pile of shit even in his prime, most overrated spanish player in the history of football
-Busquets is incredibly underrated. Best DM in history
-Carrick never got the fame he deserved. He was / still is actually better than Xavi

Busquets has been one of the most important players in one of the greatest systems in football history. No defensive midfielder in the past twenty years compares to him as an all round footballer.
>>
>>67090976
>may be true but people look at him too much in the aspect of diving
But that's the thing, he only really did it a couple of times. Yes, one of them was a truly atrocious dive, but I don't think he does it anywhere near consistently enough to have the reputation of a diver.

I'd understand uncommon but ultra rare, seriously?

- Scholes is literally the best midfielder of all time, like seriously, the Man Utd team he played in however had perfect tactics for him.
- Borussia Dortmund never deserved to be in a CL final in recent times.
- Paul Lambert was a GOAT midfielder as well who just wanted comfy life.
- Cech is the best keeper in the world rn and has been for years.
- Current Barca would beat Pep Barca
- Ibrah is a cunt.
- Torres is really good looking.
- AVB is a top tier manager.

Xavi wasn't really good apart from passes

Widely acknowledged, even by the man himself: manlet, not particularly athletic, et al.

It's just that he was exceptional at that particular attribute, to the point that seminal teams in Barca's and Spain's history were built specifically around his short tidy distribution.

EPL is the most interesting league of any first league in europe.

Bundesliga is completely overrated.

Robben and Ribery in their prime carried Buyern. The rest of the squad is above average EPL tier.

WC '06 was only interesting if you were in germany being part of the party.

Neuer is past his prime.

La Liga is the strongest league in Europe top to bottom but more often than not is like watching paint dry.

van Gaal is building something which will turn out good if he is given time.

Martinez is a good manager in a bit of a rut and in need of a fresh slate.

Kane is not a meme and is literally a world class striker.

Liverpool winning the league in 2013/14 would have been cool.

Dortmund are a very cucked club for a club of their stature and prestige

Buyernliga shills who like to nlame everyone else for the inequality of the league are cancer

Epl was a joke but will now be contenders in the CL with Pep, Poch, Mou and maybe Klopp leading the big clubs.

Lester are not going to be a one season wonder nor will they be BTFO in the CL. They are clearly a world class club and this seasons stats dont lie. They will most likely hold onto MVK (Mahrez, Vardy, Kante) for 1 more season.

Kane is overrated and not talented. Only good for working hard and shooting blooters

Alli will be the next Spurs goat to move onto a big club like Modric and Bayol

La liga is the best league in the world despite the upper table disparity between the big 3 and every other la liga midtable club. European rankings don't lie. Not one spanish club has been eliminated by anyone else other than fellow spanish clubs

Neymar is the next goat despite memes.

Messi will keep performing at Messi level for 3-4 more seasons.

Suarez will be out of Barca in a few more seasons. He's also not better than fatnaldo but he's clearly a generational talent

Luis Enrique and Zidane are good managers. Just not as good or as autistic as Poop and Mou

Biscuit is overrated

Juventus are horribly underrated

Higuain is not overrated. He is underrated but has a propensity to choke in big games.

Dybala is going to be Barca's next big player

Pogba is overrated and still all potential

USA will be a top 5 team by 2022-2026 due to all of our great upcoming youth. We will win a WC within the next 4 wc cycles

MLelS will never be a top league due to Eurocentrism but it will be a top destination if they get rid of the salary cap and bring over more Giovinco like players and fix the shitty academies. Red bulls academy should be the standard

Let's see:

>Luis Suarez is the best striker in the history
He hasn't done anything to warrant this accolade. He's good but playing alongside Messi can make anyone average look amazing.

>Verratti is one of the best midfields in the world right now, will probably be the very best in a few years
Nothing but pure speculation

>-Pirlo and Gerrard are the most overrated players of the 21st century

Blatant stupidity here Frenchie

>-Xavi wasn't really good apart from passes

A midfielder whose job is to control the midfield with passes wasn't good?

>-Drogba was barely better than your average striker

This one's really stupid. He's by far one of the most clutch strikers to ever exist. Never choked at a big game ever.

>-Valdes was dogshit

I think this is the only one that I can agree with you on

>WC 2006 was most boring WC

No. 2010 was by far the worst, and it's actually the one that had less goals and Spain 1-0'd themselves all the way to the trophy playing boring tiki taka.

>-Torres was a walking pile of shit even in his prime,

No he wasn't you idiot. If you can rate Suarez as best striker of all time from his Liverpool run, you cant then turn around and say Torres was awful in 2007-2008.

>-Busquets is incredibly underrated. Best DM in history

Not even close. Makelele, Gattusso did so much as DMs than having to rely on tailor made systems.

>Carrick better than Xavi

Please stop being intentionally stupid
>>
>>67097063
Davids, Albertini or Makelele are all worth 30 Busquets each
>>
>>67098784

People hear commentators say how important Busquets is to Barcelona then automatically think that it's a patrician opinion to rate him as best DM of all time. What a tall order and big shoes to fill.
>>

albertini wasnt really a dm, more of central mid who could defend as well as create.

I honestly can find so many DM who are/were better than Busquets.
I will say that for him, though: in an era when defenders have to walk on eggs at all times since attackers are now over-protected, he's very good at his job.
He just wouldn't be a key player anywhere out of FCB.

>boring tiki taka
Literally the best and most effective way to play football. This is the reason why Spain was the best team in the world for four years straight, something that never happened before (Brazil 58 and 62 was overrated as fuck)

>If you can rate Suarez as best striker of all time from his Liverpool run, you cant then turn around and say Torres was awful in 2007-2008

He was fast as fuck but that's pretty much it. Dribbling skills ? No. Powerful shots ? No. Free kicks ? No. Headers ? No. Crosses ? No. Ball control ? No.

Sadly you did. Yeah Football didn't start last year, but I find it ironic how you call Torres overrated but are on Suarez's nuts as the best striker of all time. As scooby would say, that's a bunch of malarkey.

>Torres didn't have dribbling skills, heading or ball control

Literally tempted to go and fish out those youtube compilation skills kids used to make around then with a Linkin Park soundtrack but I won't cause you most likely won't even watch it.

>Tiki Taka most effective way to play football

Yes thus making it a boring tournament with lots of results that ended 1-0 or 2-0, try and stay in context here. It's inconceivable how you can rate the 2006 world cup which had so much high drama worse than 2010 where nothing special whatsoever happened.

Makelele and Gattuso are 10 times the DMs that Busquets wishes he was.

Speaking of responding, I don't even know why I just typed this all out for someone who rates Michael Carrick higher than Xavi. That's just about the worst most contrarian opinion I've ever seen on /sp/.

Maybe it's cause a lot of people here don't remember 2008 with it being almost a decade ago, but Torres was on the shortlist of best player in the world and was as valued as much as Suarez is today. Him and David Villa were a nightmare for defenses with Spain.

To say that Torres was only a speed babby is beyond stupid and just flat out wrong.
>>
>>67100016
Suarez at Liverpool - 82 goals in 133 games
Torres at Liverpool - 81 goals in 142 games

So Suarez scored more goals in fewer games. You also chose to omit the fact that Torres was playing on a team that was a title and CL contenders, Suarez played for a upper mid table side
>>
>>67100178
Actually Torres played less than Suarez (talking about minutes played, not games played). He wasn't always a starter since he was injured most of the time
>>
>>67100178
Pre-2010 defenders were nothing like the gods the '90 gave us, but they still were much fiercer and had more latitude to do their jobs than now, so, there's that too
>>
>>67100304
>le nostalgia glasses

90's defenders would get shredded by todays attackers at least until they make enough fouls for a red
>>
>>67100178

>1 goal difference and 9 games is enough to shift the ratio significantly to make Torres be a "walking pile of shit"

Newsflash, the goal game ratio is still identical if you learned about how rounding off works in primary school, and even then the difference is only that of 0.05 between the two.

>Bringing up external factors that aren't relevant to the discussion.

You can nuthug Suarez all you want and even call him the best striker ever, I don't care, but the assertion that Torres was overhyped dogshit in his prime is nothing more than contrarian revisionist stupidity.
>>
when will people stop overrating Biscuits in this way? one of the greats?

get fucking real. you guys fucking disgust me
>>
>>67100360
Well, it would happen in two seconds, since football is now basketball and contact is not allowed.

Name just one of today's defenders who is as good as Blanc, Nesta or Ferdinand were. The decrease in defender's quality is what sparked the trend of pitch-wide intense pressing since last line wasn't as reliable as it was.
>>
>>67100362
>Torres was overhyped dogshit in his prime is nothing more than contrarian revisionist stupidity.
He wasn't, but there's still nothing contradictory about rating Suarez while not rating Torres.

Suarez was better than Torres at Liverpool and is 1000000x better than Torres after leaving Liverpool
>>
>>67100624
>>67100362
Just the fact that Suarez managed to be even better after moving to FCB than he was in Liverpool when Torres' career ended after moving to Chelsea show they are not of the same caliber.
But, come on, Liverpool-era Torres was a beast...
>>
>>67100721
>But, come on, Liverpool-era Torres was a beast...
I agree, he was great. I just argued that rating Suarez while not rating Torres is not a contradiction of any kind
>>
>>67100721
Yeah because Suarez totally went through knee injuries twice in a year, one of these requesting surgery, and several hamstring injuries as well right ?
>>
Suarez is average as fuck and anyone who plays striker for Barcelona 06-16 is going to score shit-loads of goals for fun and look good.

>>
>>67100178
Torres played in a shit Liverpool team, Suarez played in the only Liverpool team that made the title-race.

Suarez was a good player in a good team and had back up from the likes of Sturrudge and Sterling.

Torres was literally the only good player at the club. The only player higher than a 7/10.
>>
>>67100721

There's a big difference between playing with Messi and moving to Mourinho's Chelsea. Injuries killed Torres' career and he lost all his confidence, also gonna mirror what the other Brit said, any striker who goes to Barca and has anything less than a 30 goal season is considered a flop. You'd have to be trying very hard not to score being a striker for Barcelona.
>>

He's not even the 3rd best Liverpool striker of all time, let alone outside of Liverpool.

How many strikers scored 53 goals in a season (and counting). Doesn't even have to be at Barcelona.

Suarez is the first striker to be properly played as a striker since Eto'o left, everyone else got shifted off to be LW. Alexis wasn't that great, but he was made to look better than what he actually was. David Villa did well at Barcelona despite breaking his leg and being out for a year, and even he had to merk it about on the wings while Messi played centrally.

Point being, a striker for Barcelona scores 20 more goals than they normally would playing for another team/league.

I give you the fact that Torres wasn't helped a lot on Chelsea. Still, he missed many, maaaany opportunities that could have made his run at Chelsea quite okay (which would have been impressive under Mourinho).
And being a good striker at Barcelona is a lot tougher than you think it is. The amount of work done without the ball, especially, is overwhelming. And Suarez is not just good. This season, he is stellar

Yes I was agreeing with him. My originally gripe was the French idiot OP saying there was a huge gulfing class between Suarez and Torres when he was at his prime for 3 years. There wasn't, statistically they were almost identical but I rate Torres more as a matter of opinion.

>>67101521

>I could score 30+ for Barca comfortably
Then why did Villa, Ibrahimovic, Henry, Pedro, Alexis, Ronaldinho etc never manage 30 goals for Barcelona?

Once again, how many players eclipsed Suarez goalscoring total from this season?
>>

>>
>>67101751
I thought you guys worship Suarez. Surprised by this post.
>>
>>67101914

The reason Suarez is scoring so many goals this season was cause Messi was out injured for a month, and they want him to win the pichichi ahead of Ronaldo, so he's the one getting all the penalties and chances created for him.

It's not cause he's the greatest striker of all time. Only a true underage baby thinks that.

Yes to the first part no to the second
>>
>>67102765

First of all Suarez isn't nearly as fast as Henry. Secondly, Henry was on top of the mountain for 7 years, that's 7 years of consistently being a top striker and scoring 20+ goals, and being a nightmare for defenses, as well as carrying an average Arsenal team to a CL final and being part of the legendary 2004 invincibles.

To include Suarez in the same bracket as Henry, he needs to have the same number of years on top if not more, so he needs another 3 more years to maintain this level if he wants to be put in the same topic of discussion, as well as be able to say that he's played in 2 world cup finals and won one of them.

I always cringe when people are already touting people as GOAT just cause they've been good for less than 5 years, that's not the measuring stick and it never has been. Especially not for best striker of all time. You're gonna need so much more than just being fed tap-ins all day by Messi.

>>
>>67102989
He's been a world class striker since 2009/2010. He had that one season for liverpool when he seemed to hit the goalpost every other shot he took, but he always created chances and terrorized defenses. He almost carried an average liverpool side to a PL victory. He's the alltime top scorer for Uruguay and carried them to a Copa America victory in 2011.
>>

>He's the all time top scorer for Uruguay

And Henry is the all time top scorer for France and has won a Euro and world cup. Again like I said, it takes more than just 3 years being on top to be considered on the same level. He wasn't even better than Aguero 3 years ago.

And Luis Suarez scored 22 goals in 31 games in the eredivisie and scored 31 in 33 in the epl. What's your point. Many people count Primera Division as the greatest league in the world. Iago Aspas didn't score a single goal for Liverpool in the PL, and this season he has 14 in Spain.
Henry once played for a team dubbed "the invincibles" and yet he never managed to score more goals in a single season than Suarez did for Liverpool.
>>
>>67103299
He wasn't instrumental at all in the French wins of 98 and 2000.
We would have won 98 without him, and gone to the 2000 finals without him as well.
He has always been overrated. He was never able to do what he did outside the PL at a time when any speeder scored 20 goals a season against 95% shit defenders and GKs
>>
>>67103299
>has won a Euro and world cup
The difference is Suarez was the best player for Uruguay when they won the CA while Henry was carried by Zidane and the defence.
>>
>>67103506

My point is that Eredivisie is an inferior league. And if you're calling Suarez the goat already then nothing's stopping me from calling Lewandowski the goat, cause he actually helped Dortmund destroy the chokehold Bayern had on the league with his goals, something Suarez failed to do.

>he never managed to score more goals in a single season than Suarez did for Liverpool

>>
>>67103732
>>67103628

I don't think people even know what they mean when they said "technically".

It's like they think it means "ability to dribble around players and keep control of the ball in tight spaces"

What it actually means is "technique" and their general technique as a player.

Vidic, for example. Was wonderfully technical with his sliding tackles. He timed them to perfection. He hooked the ball away perfectly. And he recovered well afterwards. Fantastic technique, very technically gifted.

It could be argued that Vidic was technically better than Suarez. I'm not sure why you'd argue that point, because they perform completely different roles. But you could say that Vidic's technique as a defender was better than Suarez's technique as a forward. I think that's a perfectly valid argument as both of them are/were among the best in their position in the world.

>Scholes
Technically gifted passer
Not a technically gifted tackler

>Messi
Technically gifted dribbler
Not a technically gifted marker

"He has great techniqe" is a completely redundant statement unless you are referring to a specific facet of the game.

If you were older than 20 you'd remember that Henry played with Lehman, Campbell, young Kolo Toure, Ashley Cole, Patrick Vieira, Bergkamp, Adams, Keown, Pires, Ljungberg etc

Suarez played with a geriatric Gerrard, Jordan Henderson, an 18 year old Sterling, Simon Mignolet, Glen Johnson and Aly Cissokho
>>
>>67104086
Well obviously.
>>
>>67104099
This. Suarez is the only player from the 13/14 Liverpool team who would start for the Invincibles. Most of Liverpool's starting 11 wouldn't even make the bench.
>>
>>67104070
Henry played with a great Arsenal side and was by far the best player in it.

Suarez played for a good Liverpool side and didn't really stand out that far ahead of Sturridge, a player who was plagued with injures yet still somehow manged to score 21 PL goals and make 12 PL assists.
>>
>>67104124
Well obviously it's not obvious, because you were calling him technically superior 5 minutes ago m8.

Lots of players are good dribblers. Robinho. Nani. Quaresma. The list is endless. Doesn't really mean anything. Smart players don't have to dribble. They make the ball do the work. Pass and move.
>>
>>67103997
>Suarez almost did.
he, this meme.

Sturridge was pheonomenal and scored more than 20 league goals that season.
>>
>>67104144
Yeah, I'm not arguing that Sturridge isn't a great attacker, but to claim that Henry outshined his opponents to a greater degree than Suarez did is ludicrous. Patrick Vieira and Dennis Bergkamp were world class players at the time, as were Sol Campbell and Ashley Cole.
>>
I can't believe some of you retards.

Suarez
Better than fucking Henry!?

Are you high?

Suarez isn't even obviously better than Martial let alone fucking Henry.

He's not even better than the next Henry let alone the actual Henry.
>>
>>67104197
>Sturridge was pheonomenal and scored more than 20 league goals that season.
And Suarez scored more than 31 league goals, was 2nd in league assists and 1st in penalties won.
>>
>>67104070

Arsenal wasn't "great" when he was carrying them on his back to the CL final.

You also can't start using the "He played for a better team" argument when comparing individual players. I already told you that Henry was great for 7 years in the premier league as a top striker when competition was stiff, then you bring in Suarez's career from the joke league that is the Eredivisie where Altidore was a top player. Suarez has been at the pinnacle for 3 years, he needs 3 more years to be in even the same conversation as Henry.

He is just marginally better than Aguero and Lewandowski, and a good generational striker of his era. That's as far as it goes.

Right now I can't take you or anyone else who seriously thinks that Suarez is better than prime Henry or even greatest striker of all time. It must be the Liverpool fan-boyism delusion seeping through, that or I can only think of you as being horrifically underage and I bet I would be correct in either of my assumptions.

>>
>>67104227

Suarez's last season CL run was 10 times more impressive than Henry's 2006 CL run. Especially considering that Suarez scored the winner in the final while Henry choked away 3 sitters in his final.

and? the idea that suarez carried that team single-handily is silly. I can't name any team bar Barcelona and Real Madrid that have more than 1 player with >20 league goals. It was a great team offensively, but weak defensively. Having a pacebaby like Sterling on the wing was key as well.
>>
>>67104294

No one on that team defended, which makes his season even more impressive
>>

Excuse me? Dribbling ability doesn't matter? I get that there's a lot of pointless flah out there, but take Suarez' dribbling ability and combine it with his strength, pace, eye for goal and ability to always keep track of his opponent and you got yourself a world class player. It is this you forget when you write things like:
>Smart players don't have to dribble. They make the ball do the work.
You forget it's not just sparks and glitter with no end-product, there's a lot of goals that come out of it. There is more than one way to score a goal and win a game.
>>

>>
>>67104322
The opposite actually. It's easy to score loads of goals in system where the strategy is "Fuck defending, let's just outscore them!"

A striker's dream.

Conversely, Henry's Arsenal sides were very solid defensively and defensive in midfield too. Hence their unbeaten run.
>>

Top kek one of the most notorious divers in the history of the game. If you want to put him in a top 5 of anything all time, put him in the divers list.
>>
>>67104369
You'd have a point if the defenders actually contributed in attack but the back 5 were literally dead weight (except for Skrtel at set pieces).
>>
>>67104355
Dribbling doesn't matter if you are good at other things.

van Nistelrooy for example, is a far superior striker to Suarez but I can count on one hand how many times he actually 1-on-1 beat a defender with dribbling or a burst of pace

It's only important if that's what your game relies on.

You can't just go "Suarez was better at dribbling therefore he was better than Henry" which is essentially what you did.
>>
>>67104221
> Mentions Vieira/Bergkamp/Sol/Cole
> Doesn't mention our actual second best player in Pires

Pires stays being underrated.
>>
>>67104367
He's not though.

Martial is faster, stronger, better dribbler and he's only 19 but his finishing is already pretty good and on track to be better than Suarez by 22-23 at the latest.

In what way does Suarez beat Martial? Other than being 10 years older and having 10 years more experience and development in front of goal?
>>
>>67104227
>It must be the Liverpool fan-boyism delusion seeping through, that or I can only think of you as being horrifically underage
Yeah, great ad-hominems you're going with there. One of them is actually correct. But they don't really matter when you're trying to argue about something other than the person you're talking to.
You've already made the argument that Henry was a world class striker for 7 years, and I've told you that I feel that Suarez has been at least equally good for the same amount of time. There's no point in going down that road again.
>>
>>67104437

>>

>The opposite actually. It's easy to score loads of goals in system where the strategy is "Fuck defending, let's just outscore them!"

This is why the arguments about Suarez are bullshit and why Torres and Henry easily bested him in the PL.

That season was a complete one-off where Liverpool's tactics were so unorthodox that it's impossible to draw any conclusions about any of their players that season.
>>
>>67104294
>in fact, he didn't defend at all
That's a bold lie. No one worked as hard as Suarez did on that team. And comparing Sterling to Suarez is also pretty brave.
>>
>>67104407
The fact that he's a notorious diver, doesn't mean he's not strong.
>>
>>67104509
> that 01/02 Pires

Shame we couldn't see him in the world cup at his peak.
>>
>>67104526
I'm not comparing them. I'm saying Sterling was class that season and so was Sturridge. The attack in general was brilliant and their tactics were spot on.

Obviously Suarez is and was better than Sterling. He also edged it with Sturridge too. The point is that it's not like it was one player carrying 10 farmers into the title-race.

Swap Suarez directly with any top player and they'd hit 30 goals too.

Henry
Rooney
Martial
Rashford (maybe)
Kane
Vardy
Torres

They'd all run absolutely riot in that team under those tactics. Suarez was nothing special or out of the ordinary that season. He was just the main striker in a team that did nothing but attack and set him up with chances on a plate time and time again.
>>
>>67104480

It's not an ad-hominem, I know for a fact you're a Liverpool fan boy.

>He's been equally good for the same amount of time

He hasn't nor has he accomplished the same feats that Henry did. He is marginally better than Aguero who has accomplished more.
>>
>>67104431
I literally wrote "there's more than one way to score a goal".
>Dribbling doesn't matter if you are good at other things.
Fuckin yes it does. What if United with Van Nistelrooy was pushed far down the field, with no one being able to break free from their man and pushing forward on their own? Van Nistelrooy was a great box-player, one of the greatest ever, but he wasn't much usefull otherwise. He needed wingers and midfielders to serve him, and then he'd deliver.

How? How do you know that? How do you know that I'm a Liverpool fan boy and not a Barca fan, or an Ajax fan. Or an Uruguayan posting from a Norwegian IP adress? How do you know that I'm not just some guy who really really likes Luis Suarez? I'm getging the feeling that you're either a massive United supporter or an Arsenal fan, but I don't bring that in to question since it doesn't fucking matter, since we're discussing who's the best of Thierry Henry and Luis Suarez, and not what team you should support.

b) A defence that kept 6 clean sheets in 7 games

Henry was carrying the team in attack and actually getting the important goals. It's disgusting how this argument is now shifting to team rosters when the argument was about individual talent. Henry didn't need to be carried by anyone, he was great all by himself.

>But their defence was great in the CL

Yes only for that tournament, that doesn't mean it was a great defense overall when they finished 6th in the league. Drogba's clutchness carried Chelsea, not Bosingwa and David Luiz in defense.
>>
>>67104964

Why do we always underrated players currently playing and dick ride all the legends like they're all other worldly and unreachable? Do our crop have to retire first before we rate them accordingly? Biscuits hasn't accomplished any less and is no less equipped than those players, shame he's in the shadow of flashier midfielders and the literal GOAT
>>
>>67114107
You have to wait until they retire for them to be properly rated in a historical context. There's too much emotions and personal likes/dislikes involved during their careers.

20 years from now Messi will be recognised as an almost unanimous GOAT, CR7 will be considered a top 10 all time player by almost everyone, Busquets will be universally rated as a top 3 DM etc etc
>>
>>67090695
Valdes was always dogshit. He only got to play for Barcelona because Real Madrid had their own home-grown goalkeeper. He got out of Barca and he finally got hired in Liege. Fucking Liege.

PS. They now have Ter Steigen, which doesn't exactly help.
>>
>>67114698
Forgot to add he was never even 2nd choice in Spain. It was Casillas, Reina, Valdes... Until De Gea happened, then Valdes became 4th.
>>
>>67114296
And then there's this Suarez hate. He almost carried a team that finished 7th before him and 7th after him to a league title. His stats are incredible and he set up teammates as well as scoring and they dont even tell the full story. His stats legit underrated his season and considering the goals he scored, many of which were spectacular individual displays, as well as the fact that he was the beating heart of the teams attack and undoubtedly carried Sturridge and Sterling, makes his season there go down as one of the greatest individual performances over a season in the leagues history.

He didn't have a stacked team like Henry, Drogba, Rooney, Ronaldo, Aguero, who all have teams that could probably still win leagues without him, or at least not end up 7th, and that unfortunately is why he doesn't have the silverware they do. He's also extremely unlikable so it's easy and almost automatic to underrate him. And don't even get started on his record for his country, he's already their all time top scorer.

Again he has to retire to be fairly credited it seems. He probably isnt the best strike every but hes easily the best since fat Ronaldo or Henry.
>>
>>67114296
>CR7 will be considered a top 10 all time player by almost everyone

By almost everyone who thinks scoring tap-ins and donalties against Malmö, Getafe, Espanyol and Wolfsburg is something big yeah
>>
>>67093442

Prime Eto'o was instrumental in consecutive treble winning sides. Drogba was never on his level
>>
>>67114813
>And don't even get started on his record for his country, he's already their all time top scorer

So what ? I agree that Suarez is the best striker ever but these stats don't mean shit. Villa and Torres became top 3 all time top scorers in Spain because they stat-padded against Tahiti and Azerbaijan. It doesn't mean shit.
>>
>>67114929
There are no Azerbaijans in South American qualifiers and Suarez actually won a trophy with Uruguay while being named player of the tournament.

That surely counts for something
>>
>>67114929
2012 copa america
Winners: Uruguay
Best player of tournament: Suarez, 4 goals

That's one more trophy than either Messi or Ronaldo have carried their countries to.
>>
>>67114816
>By almost everyone who thinks scoring tap-ins and donalties against Malmö, Getafe, Espanyol and Wolfsburg is something big yeah

>ronaldo scores tap ins and everyone says its easy
>Real Mad has to play a game without him
>no one is able to score "simple tap ins" any more
>no one gets into position in the box to receive the ball
>>
>Van Nistelrooy ought to be considered one of the GOAT strikers
>David Beckham was legit world class despite his celebrity status
>Oliver Kahn is the GOAT GK
>Pirlo is one of the best players of all time

It's unironically in my top 4 with WC 98, Euro 00 and WC 06

Not even the guy you replied to
>>
>>67115439
Forgot about WC98 desu, that was probably the best.
>>
>>67115177
>Spurs will win the league next season, and Liverpool will make the CL
Writing this genuinely makes me sad, but it'll be City. City will win it, spurs, pool and Chelsea will make the top 4, and some variation of West Ham, Arsenal, United and Leicester in the following positions. Stoke, Everton and Southampton might be in there as well.
>>
>>67115589
This. City are easily the best EPL team as long as they remain relatively healthy. Guardiola will also improve the team despite /sp/ memes.

1. City
2. Chelsea
3. Spurs
4. Liverpool
5. Arsenal
6. United
7. Leicester

>rooney getting sent off
Best world cup i've seen by far
>>
>>67115439
>WC 06

It was a boring tournament and only remembered for one forced meme incident. '98 was the last iconic WC imo, everything after has been boring, EVEN 2014 when the media and pundits tried to shill it as some amazing tournament.

2010 was the worst football tournament I have ever seen
>>
France 1998 was by far the best in my memory. THAT Bergkamp goal, THAT England exit, THAT final. Such a GOAT tournament
>>
>>67097063

>give me a better dm
>here are some you can't use
>>
>>67114107

Busquets is a system babby who's entire role is to intercept passes and then pass the ball 5 yards to the more attacking midfielder. The other DMs mentioned were more versatile in their skills and in the roles they could play, that's why they're rated higher.
>>
>>67113584
>>67114047
So, no one willing to discuss this?

Shame, I guess we can go back to spamming >le misses chances and disappears in le big games memes then
>>
Whats this frenchies problem with based Torres anyways? I dont get it.
>>
>>67090695

none of these are unpopular though. Especially the Valdes and Busquets ones.

Here is an actual unpopular opinion:
Leicester are lucky and play shit football. Mahrez and Kante are incredibly overrated. If they were so good, how come nobody noticed them last year? If they didn't have Vardy, they probably would've been relegated this year.
>>
>>67118211
Not just in YOUR memory. WC 98 was the best tournament of all times!

SUKER!!!
>>
>>67119734
> Calls Torres a pile of shit in his prime
> not unpopular

Literally noone would agree with this retard.
>>
Mario Gomez is one of the best strikers in the world and will be the topscorer of EURO 2016.

Anybody who shits on Busquets right now will suck his dick and say he's the best DM of all time when he's retired.

Khedira isn't as world-class as people think he is.

Messi might be the greatest player of all time but he disappears in some important matches. He should get more flack for that.

Pep Barca would absolutely blow the fuck out of current Barca, even though current Barca is the best team in the world right now. Luiz Enrique really isn't that good as a manager.

Zidane will go down in history like Maradona. Absolute legend as a player, but hilariously bad manager.
>>
>>67119838

not in his prime but at Chelsea he was worthless. Except for the goal against Barcelona, which probably made it all worth it.
>>
>>67119905
that goal was pointless
>>
>>67119905
He also scored in the Europa League finals.
>>
>>67119962

no it wasn't
>>
>>67120021
it was.
>>
>>67093773
who asked for your opinion dimitrov?
>>
>>67119734
>Leicester are lucky and play shit football
You don't win the title over 38 games by being lucky. Also they play great counter attacking football. I bet you're one of those 'muh possession' faggots.
>Mahrez and Kante are incredibly overrated.
How exactly? They've been the two best players of the season.
>If they were so good, how come nobody noticed them last year?
Because Kante was playing in France, and Mahrez just hadn't peaked yet.
>If they didn't have Vardy, they probably would've been relegated this year.
Because they sure struggled to score goals in the last game when he was suspended :^)
>>
If people had as much media coverage of Serie A as they do the Premiership the bants here would be far superior, despite Juvewinslol
>>
Italy are illegitimate champions because Australia was going to beat them.
>>
I'd rather MLS not grow because the majority of fans are cringeworthy and its general comfyness is being stripped one big player signing at a time.

>-Luis Suarez is the best striker in the history
Not even close
>-Verratti is one of the best midfields in the world right now, will probably be the very best in a few years
He's good, yeah
>-Pirlo and Gerrard are the most overrated players of the 21st century
Actually agree with this one. Gerrard is obviously overrated, and Pirlo was class on his day but massively overrated for sure
>-Xavi wasn't really good apart from passes
His role was literally just passing though, he didn't need to be good at anything else. He was good enough at passing alone that he was easily one of the best midfielders in history
>-Drogba was barely better than your average striker
Drogba was absolutely unplayable from 2006-2010, awful opinion mate
>-Valdes was dogshit
>unpopular
>-WC 2006 was the most boring WC I have seen (I saw 1994, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010 & 2014)
2010 was far worse
>-Torres was a walking pile of shit even in his prime, most overrated spanish player in the history of football
He was an extremely good finisher in his prime, watch a montage of all his goals for Liverpool and you'll understand how lethal he was. Better than current Aguero. And I despise Liverpool
>-Busquets is incredibly underrated. Best DM in history
Makelele
>-Carrick never got the fame he deserved. He was / still is actually better than Xavi
Top kek

Thank you for confirming you never actually bothered to watch Ronaldo play after Inter.
>>
>>67114698
Valdes had some blunders (less than many people give him today) but the way he was part of his team's system... I dunno a lot of GK who could have done it.
