Fergie could only paper over the cracks for so long. Man Utd has had a terrible player investment strategy in the past years. Combine this with a laughable academy for such a big club and it requires a miracle worker as a coach. It doesn't help that they seem to be caught up every transfer season with buying a 'star' and not actually fixing the fundamental issues in their team.
