Why would it be diluted? The Spanish league shows how things can go. The midfield fights for the midfield and not for survival, this means that they have more assurances, less drama and build up specialized teams instead of trying to snatch one or two quality players from the market after your key players either left you on a free or you got paid nothing for them.
This way, the shit, actually shit teams get relegated, and the mid-table teams with higher aspirations can finally concentrate on just that.
Teams like Stuttgart, Hamburg, Hoffenheim usw. usw. all have a shit ton of quality in their squad, they shouldn't be fighting against relegation. Also the threat of relegation forces the management to make hasty decisions as one loss or two can kick you down the table.
Sure, it makes the relegation battle the most exciting in all of the big european leagues, but in the long term it harms the quality of our teams as it disallows other big teams to establish themself (See teams like Valencia, Sevilla, Bilbao, Villareal or before Simeone took over Atletico)
