The torch has been lit and is on its way and thus begins the 31st Summer Olympiad in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.

Does /sp/ think Brazil can pull it off?
>>
Not even a fucking chance. There will be a fucking massive economic nose dive and widespread riots when this is done.
>>
>>66994473
no
>>
Friendly reminder the US has recorded a profit in three straight Olympics (Olympic record tbqh), meanhile Brazil is projected to spend 11 Billion dollars, nearly 3 times as much as the Britbong Olympics.
>>
>not just hosting every Olympics and World Cup in the USA

It's like they don't care about viewers or money.

1) Do you mean can the torch get to the Olympics without the runner getting murdered or mugged? Then no.
2) You are now aware the torch tradition did not start with the ancient Greeks, but with the 1936 Germans.

The Child prostitutes of Rio De Janeiro will certainly be doing a lot more pulling off.
>>
I legitimately would not be surprised if an athlete dies during the olympics. Not necessarily due to any Brazilian fuck up, but it's just that kind of year.
>>
We barely hear anything about the Olympics 2bh

>>67008856
Why are foreign newspapers so fucking sensationalist? This bridge had nothing to do with the Olympics, but, hey, it happenned in Brazil so we'll try to link it with the upcoming event.
>>
Have the Olympics ever been canceled part way through? If not I predict this will be the first
>>
>>66994473
I'd say the odds aren't horrible for them. Maybe 7 to 1 against.
>>
>It's an Americunts hate on a host nation because they didn't get awarded it episode

Was the same for 2010 WC, 2012 Olympics & 2014 WC.
>>
>>67012669
It's called damage control you ape. Brazilian media isn't telling you how fucked you are because you'd all lose your minds. Your economy already sucks and you're about to drop 11 billion in this party.
>>
>>67012680
Nah, if Munich and Atlanta weren't cancelled due to flat out terrorist attacks then it'll take a lot to do it.
>>
>>67012709
No, it's called "we don't give a fuck about it". We barely hear anything about it because we're living a political turmoil right now and because it's only in Rio, the rest of the country won't experience anything different from any other Olympic games that we saw on TV. Besides that, we don't really care about all those meme sports, we only care about football and, to a less extent, volleyball. The World Cup literally stopped our country for a month, but the Olympics aren't that powerful.

You don't understand it would seem. The money Dilma Rousseff and her government are sinking into this will come back to haunt you because of the enormous price tag attached to it. How do you think they'll try to get the money to pay for it?

> being this deluded

Brazil's crisis, just as any other in the history of mankind, started with the problem of the distribution of scarce resources. The political crisis is nothing more than the consequence of the economic one.
