What's /sp/ think about Fulham?

Six years ago, European finalists. Now struggling at the bottom of the championship, albeit almost mathematically safe. Billionaire owner, yet very little investment put into the club.

Do you see Fulham back in the premiership in the next 2-5 years? Or can you see a Portsmouth scenario happening?

It's hard being a Fulham fan.

Also: post your team.

Millwall, Charlton? They were once big guns in the football league.

Fulham were playing in the lowest tier of english football 20 years ago. Location has no effect in these matters.
>>
Fuck Fulham.

There are too many London clubs as it is.

It's 2016, keep up with 'soccer', amerifat.

Fulham always seem to be one of the more liked London clubs though.

>Chelsea
>Arsenal
>West Ham
>Spurs
>Millwall

Fulham are infinitely more likeable than these.
>>
>>66966167
>Millwall, Charlton

didn't realise these teams were as central london as they were.

>Fulham were playing in the lowest tier of english football 20 years ago. Location has no effect in these matters.

literally because of your location were you bought, don't deny it.
>>
>American owners

Not even once
>>
>>66966225
You're confusing likeable with irrelevant.
>>
>>66966245
>Rich owner buying Premiership team just because of location.

Sure buddy. That'll explain the lure of cosmopolitan, vibrant places like Blackburn, Hull, Leicester etc to foreign owners. JUST.

Fulham were bought because Mohammed Al Fayed wanted to sell up and retire. Location would only have played a small part in the matter, as they were a Premiership team for over 10 fucking years at the point they were bought.
>>
Sorry for your luck m8, the guy couldn't run a football team and now it's evident he can't run a soccer one either

I like Fulham, favourite away day and fairly easy to get to.

Think the west London clubs will be in the championship for a bit longer.

OP or any other Fulham fans, why are you still supporting them? Why not just support whoever is winning the premier league? Then you are always happy you see
>>
>>66966328
For a billionaire, he's pretty fucking clueless m8.

When he bought the club, he gave the same interview 5000 times to different media sources, and it was quite apparent by his vacant stare when asked about anything football related, that he was incredibly out of his depth.

Great 'tache, shit owner.

Hope Sunderland manage to stay up, and I'm pretty sure big Sam is capable of making it happen. On the plus side if you do get relegated, you have a squad of players who will probably do well in the championship, as opposed to Villa.

I like how London teams have different identities

Arsenal = black
Spers = jewish
Chelsea = nouveau riche
West Ham = white working class
Fulham = family friendly
Millwall = criminals
Wimbledon = crazy people

any more that I'm missing?
>>
>>66967930
crystal palace is in between milwall and west ham in terms of rowdiness and working class-ness

apart from that you're spot on
>>
>>66967930
Chelsea = Tourists and skinheads
Millwall = Criminals and wannabe criminals
Arsenal = Black and delusional
Spurs = Jewish and delusional
Fulham = The rich and their butlers
QPR = Tracksuits only
Charlton = Weird mix of people mashed together
Crystal Palace = Teenagers with a drum and a booklet of disney songs
Watford = People pretending Watford isn't a London club
Leyton Orient, Dagenham & Redbridge, Barnet, Wimbledon = Unlucky people
>>
>>66967930
>>66968037
>>66968056
London has too many clubs, especially considering they're all mediocre or worse (bar Arsenal, for a season more until they become a mid-table club, and Chelsea after abramovic)

Weird.
>>
>>66968084
>especially considering they're all mediocre or worse
I don't get your point
>>
>>66968084
considering the population density of london each club still has a decent catchment area
>>
Me and my mates used to go up there for every Europa League match after school cos my mate supported them and the tickets were cheap as fuck. Putney's beautiful and the walk to the stadium is probably the nicest I've ever had. I like the club but they always had no identity in the Premier League, they're just another one of those teams who had some years up there but never managed to hold on forever.
>>
>>66966649
as a bystander I think you're the retard
>>
>>66967551
never had a pie there but this is pretty fucking accurate, I love sitting in the stand so you can see the cottage with the exec seats on a sunny day
>>
>>66968141
Imagine if London only had one, two or three major clubs. They'd have a massive catchment area and crazy revenue. Think Real Madrid.

It might explain why London clubs historically were never powerhouses outside of Arsenal and recently Chelsea. The city was too fractured and (quality) players dispersed among those clubs instead of being pooled in on or two major clubs as they might have been.

>>66968170
Yeah, I know, just saying.
>>
>>66966058
>Can you see a Portsmouth scenario happening?

No.
We (Portsmouth) only ended up liek we did because of a combination of dodgy owners, 'Arry overspending and all of our players leaving due to us no longer having the money to pay their wages.

Unless it turns out Fulham's owner is actually broke and they still buy Sol Campbell for 12 fucking million despite this they'll be fine, maybe they'll spend a few more years in the Championship but they won't fall to our level
>>
>>66968303
>The city was too fractured and (quality) players dispersed among those clubs instead of being pooled in on or two major clubs as they might have been.
Doesn't always work like that. Look at Paris
>>
>>66968683
Out of curiosity I checked something. Before the professional era (between 1893 and 1928) 5 different clubs from Paris won the title. From 1932 till 2012 (before the lolpsgwin) clubs from Paris only won 3 titles. Weird lel.

Otherwise yeah, you have a point.
