He said some other shit about being unlucky and lacking confidence on Sky Sports too
No amount of "Wenger out" will make Wenger actually leave.

Elneny is making Coquelin look bad.
>>66902742

People need to stop comparing Wenger to Simeone. It's like comparing Welbeck to Suarez.
>>66902773

>shit manager vs good manager
>Welbz vs Suarez
>shit player vs good player
I don't see the issue here.
>>66902808
There is no comparison. We know Simeone is better.
>>66902762
Elneny is a very average crab passer with a decent engine who doesn't really offer the team anything.
Coq feels the need to push forward more and try to influence the play because Elneny can't, and those are definitely not Coq's strengths so he ends up looking bad.
He looked world class next to Cazorla because he only had to play to his strengths. But now Coquelin is looking very average too.
>>66902578
Chelsea, City and Man U all have a massive job on their hands, big rebuilds needed and they can always go horribly wrong. Chelsea have it especially hard as they seem to need 5-6 first team players.
Arsenal's squad is in much better shape.
>>66902556
Jesus fuck that line is ridiculously high

>Giroud has 2 goals in his last 18 appearances for Arsenal
Not trying to defend him, that's a terrible record, but it's sad that he won't end his goal drought because he's limited to 15 minutes off the bench and then having no service when he comes on.
Looking forward to watching the day the roadman core celebrates the title with Simeone the roadman manager like this.

Disagree desu. They play good stuff sometimes but when they play with one upfront they leave the striker isolated too much and it's hard for them to build attacks. I watched all of Afobe's first few games for them and he was pretty much just a poacher when played on his own. It's fine when they play with two strikers though.
That said, he'd be able to create his ideal team with the funds he'd have at Arsenal so I'm sure he'd manage to improve his style.

>>66906114

wenger is on an astronomical wage. if the board offered him similar wages then why wouldn't he? hasn't he always said in the past he'd like to manage in england.
even if he says no, they have to at least reach out and ask him. it will be criminal if they don't.
>>66905571
>implying wilshere has played that many games
>>66906106
I never watched them in the Championship so you're probably right. I was just going off the 8 or so times I've watched them this season.
I'd love to have an English manager desu
>>66905621
>>66905897
The issue with Howe and Bournemouth is that they're very stubborn in their style of play.
Howe got them playing fast attacking football that got them promoted relatively easily and they've stuck to that formula in the Premiership. They haven't adapted their style to match the league's intensity, they've just kept rolling with it.
And while I suppose it's doing well for them, it'll be frustrating to have a manager who may not change his style of football in slumps and patches of poor form, which are definitely gonna happen when Wenger goes as we will go through a couple seasons of rebuilding.
>>66906166

This question is only for british long life fans: how good is Alexis? would you say he is one of the key players in Arsenal?
>>66906120
>>66906219
Don't think he's bothered with the money at all desu. Otherwise he would've taken the Chelsea job which he was definitely offered.
He wants to manage Atletico, Inter, and Lazio. That's his plan.
>>66906219
>why wouldn't he?
I just told you why he wouldn't. He said recently that when he leaves Atletico he wants to go to Inter.
I agree that we have to at least attempt to get him though. But he doesn't speak English and that's vital for a manager like him. We can't have him shouting at the team in Spanish then having to rely on Arteta to translate it and then him calmly telling the players what to do.
>>66906219
Because he's building something special with Atletico, and it's nowhere close to completion
>>66906317

>>66906166
I fucking hate the Emirates.

At least our away fans are loud, but our home fans are absolutely disgraceful.
Arsenal are going to wind up with Allegri
>>66906435
I'd take him
>>66906317
I think he looks like a nice lad desu.
But either way you could argue that we need a twat, someone who's willing to shout at the players on the pitch and give them a kick up the arse when they're not playing well.
Not an old man who sits in his seat all match long.
>>66906341
>We can't have him shouting at the team in Spanish then having to rely on Arteta to translate it and then him calmly telling the players what to do.
that would be hilarious

>>66906347
He's not going to get any closer.
Greaseman will join up with Mourinho this summer.
Koke is on his way to bigger and better things too.
Costa to Chelsea is just another example. They were lucky it didn't destroy the team too much but this time they won't be so lucky.
It's over. They had a good run but it's done. Now it's time for him to move to another club and start a fresh.
>>66906272
You could however go through life wanting to play in a certain way and make alterations along the way, none too drastic in terms of playing style though.
Of course, one of Wenger's main problems is being unable to adapt to opponents. And it's hard to predict how Howe will be in an Arsenal-like enviroment. But who knows, maybe he'll be able to build a very good team at Arsenal. I definitely think he'll be one of the more interesting managers to follow in the next couple of seasons, Bournemouth loves him, so they won't hastily sack him like Swansea did Monk if things went south for whatever reason.
>>66906252
Well, they've had some very bad games, so yeah. About an English manager, I think it'd have some very nice advantages, especially seeing how Arsenal would be the only big club with one. Stuff like that makes you somewhat more likeable in the media and maybe help you with refs.
>>66906538
>Bournemouth loves him, so they won't hastily sack him like Swansea did Monk if things went south for whatever reason.
Swansea loved Monk too. Their stories are very similar desu. Easily comparable.
>>66906323
He was our key player last season, and even though he's been shit this season he's definitely still one of our key players. Nowhere near world class but he's still a good player.
Personally, I hate the way he plays though and wouldn't be sad if he left.
>>66906599
Yeah, when I typed it, I thought about it again. For some reason, forgot to add to it.
Monk was mostly good for them as a player though and took over after Swansea already got promoted and won the league cup under other managers. The difference is that Howe brought them up from League Two as the manager. But I won't rule anything out, never thought Monk would get the sack too, but he did.
>>66905907
see to be honest, i don't see any reason why this leicester team wouldn't have challenged for the title in any other season. they are a really, really good team. its actually pretty disrespectful to them to say arsenal should take it as a given to finish above them.
i dont say that in defence of wenger btw, he should be sacked in the summer 100%.
>>66906530
>Costa to Chelsea is just another example. They were lucky it didn't destroy the team too much but this time they won't be so lucky.
Atletico have had great strikers literally every year and have always managed to replace them. Aguero, Torres, Forlan, Falcao, Costa, Greezman, etc
You can't say that be able to do well without Costa is down to luck.
And he definitely doesn't need to start fresh. Why would he when he's creating a period of sustained success for the club?
>>66906717

Spurs are at least as big as Arsenal. You don't see their fans complaining about 3rd-8th place finishes, do you? Same applies to West Ham with their new stadium there is nothing between them and Arsenal.
THAT is your level. You are not a Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Manchester United or a Liverpool. You are a Spurs or a West Ham, now fuck off.

>>66906761
wouldn't be surprised desu, but the point still stands in my opinion. they are a great team, and just because arsenal, man city, chelsea etc are all shite this season it doesn't really detract from the quality they've shown this season.
>>66906798
In less than ten years before Wenger had joined the club, Arsenal had won the league twice, won the FA Cup and league cup a couple of times, and also won a European trophy (albeit a shit one), something Wenger hasn't managed in 20 years. People act as if Arsenal were like Millwall or something before he took over.
>>66906996
Nah that European trophy isn't worth mentioning, Spurs have more trophys in Europe than Arsenal
>>66906773
people say liverpool fans are deluded
but arsenal fans are actually FAR FAR more deluded because of this fact
liverpool are actually a big club and among europe's elite
arsenal are a big club compared to the rest in london, but not an elite club, wenger has had them punching above their weight for a while now
whereas 4th is failure to a club like barca, liverpool, united, bayern, madrid etc. 4th is actually a great achievement for arsenal which would be on a par with winning a title for the other clubs
>>66906404
>plastic wankers like this attending the matches.
It was a joke mate. Pipe down.
>>66907102
You're missing the point. It's not that we think we're on the same level as Barca, it's that we want to be.
>>66907078
Found the kike
>all these mongos spouting nonsense about the size of the club
it's literally irrelevant you thick cunts. the simple fact of the matter is that Arsenal have an astromical wage budget that any good manager should be able to put to use a lot better than wenger does. the last 4-5 years have been a massive underachivement in relation to the money spent on wages.
he is no longer the right man for the job and simpls has to go.
Soon. (Hopefully)
In case anyone feels like getting any hopes up or getting angry when the same exact thing happens next season, just remember that wenger already pretty much argued that there wouldn't be any signings and the season will follow the same shambolic style except I expect arsenal to finish lower than 4th for sure due to other clubs improving while arsenal continue their digression under wenger.
>>66907330
and? i'm sure every club wants to be on that level, but you don't see west ham trying to sack their manager because he got them to 5th/6th/7th
you know why? because they aren't big clubs either. they KNOW their level.
United on the other hand might sack van Gaal and have sacked Moyes because they ARE on the level of Barcelona, Madrid, Bayern and those managers have the club punching BELOW their weight
so yeah, you're missing the point
Wenger would rather finish 4th every season than finish 1st then 5th
How can anyone see this is a problem
>>66907395
Arsenal's wage budget is nowhere near United, Liverpool, City and Chelsea's and is more comparable to Spurs.

They are essentially, the Spanish Spurs or the Spanish Everton.

I literally sit dead in front of Robbie at Arsenal. He's a nice bloke, fucking huge.
>>66907739
No, it's not.
I know for a fact that Yaya, Aguero, Silva, de Bruyne and Sterling are all being paid more than £300k per week.
Arsenal don't have a single player on that.
£150k is the new 30k people need to wake up and get with the times.
£150k a week is not an incredible amount of money for a decent first-team player to earn.
Yfw Wenger and Martinez will have the same amount of major trophies in the last 10 years come the end of the season yet idiots will still defend them
>>66908024
Wish Ox had picked spurs. Useless fucking cunt. Southampton have schooled Arsenal with transfers.
>>66908079
Good for them. Still doesn't mean they don't have a greater upside than Arsenal. In fact, out of most of the top teams in the EPL, Arsenal have the biggest downside next season because the same wank manager with the same wank ideas will not sign anyone to improve the squad while everyone else will improve.

>>66908176
That may well be the case, but the reason Arsenal's wage bill is so high is that they pay shitters big wages. Dogshit like Denilson was on 50k a week, where anywhere else he'd be lucky to get close to half of that.
>>66908173

I feel like I'm the only person around here who likes Robbie. Can't stand AFTV and the divas who go on there (aside from the loud African man I like him) but Robbie genuinely seems like such a decent guy.

>I know for a fact that Yaya, Aguero, Silva, de Bruyne and Sterling are all being paid more than £300k per week.
you literally don't know that for a fact, so kindly wind your neck in pal.
wengers problem is that he likes to keep the variance in wages as low as possible for squad harmony reasons. which leads to dogshite squad players like gibbs on 90k, and means he's reluctant to splash out proper big money on world class players and have them earn considerably more than other members of the squad.
it't not a terrible model theoritically if it works, but it fucking doesn't for arsenal at all and it needs to change and he needs to go.

And has the gall to claim there was no qualiteee on the market. IN CASE ANYONE HAS FORGOTTEN, he has already started saying the same used up cliches about no signings this summer and he will allow the distraction of the Euros to prevent anyone being signed.
Arsenal are playing the best players they can attract to their club.
In fact, Ozil and Sanchez will be wanting out soon so you better start looking for replacements. Maybe get Mata in because Mourinho won't want him.
And yes, Mata will be on high wages, maybe even as much as £200k a week. But you'll have to suck it up and pay it because if you don't you'll have to get an even inferior player and so on.

No, we're playing the biggest names we can attract to our club.
We don't have to go all Man United and sign about 20 "big names" because look how well that works out.
We can bring good players to the club that aren't big names.
We don't have to sign some ex Barca or Madrid superstar player to win titles. Leicester are winning the league with lower league players. To win things, you need to put together a good football team, not just bring together a bunch of "good" players.

Mate, it was the most un-Welbeck thing I've seen from him. Looked like prime Sanogo for most of it, but that pass was better than anything Özil did all game. I rewatched it several times to bask in the rarity of it all.
>>66908797
>We can bring good players to the club that aren't big names.
Yeah, it's possible but a lot more difficult and it takes years and years of trial and error to get right.
So if that's your strategy, good luck, you won't be finishing in the top 7 for the next 3-4 years but maybe after that you have a shot. MAYBE.
Or you can go tried and tested, keep Wenger and play CL football every year while staying profitable and secure for the future.

>>66908956
But right now in football the big meme with the big clubs is to go about signing all the big name players for big money. Man United have done this for the past 2 seasons. So have Liverpool. Spurs did it a couple years before. So did QPR.
And none of them have been successful.
Sign all le players maymay doesn't work. There are good players out there that aren't completely unknown that are willing to join our club and would fit our system. We don't have to sign superstars.

I reckon we should do it desu.
It probably wouldn't be too expensive due to his injury problems, therefore if it goes tits up we won't make a massive loss, and we have a guaranteed goalscorer at the club, something we desperately need.

>>66909201
Sturridge has either a goal or an assist like every 90 minutes this season and he's not even in form yet. Seems like Klopp still isn't that keen on him though so it's probably worth a try.

>>66909172
You're right, football isn't FM.
As in you can't go out and spend 200 million British pound sterling on a whole new spine of superstar players in one summer and expect them to gel and win trophies.
You can, however, sign a couple good players in their position who will add quality to the squad and improve it. I'm not asking them to find complete hidden world class gems playing in the fucking conference. There are plenty of players out there who aren't global footballing superstars playing for a megaclub who would massively improve the club.
We need a winger. We don't need to sign Bale or Ronaldo. Someone like Fekir (granted I haven't watched him much this season but he was great last season) would do a job and would definitely 100% willingly love to leave Lyon to join us.
the arsenal squad is like the footballing equivalent of an /r9k/ meetup. they're all fucking soft as shite.

>>66909128
the issue is that if you want these good players who aren't superstars clubs will still be asking for 20m+ these days.
that's why we never sign anybody. wenger is reluctant to spend big on a player who isn't absolutely proven quality when the world class and the good but might be great go for the same prices.
the gems from the french league are few and far between. when wenger says he was looking at kante he probably didn't think he would be as good as he turned out. payet was obviously quality but when you have ozil it is a bit of a pointless signing when other areas need strengthening.

Koeman, Bilic. Bilic is good on tactics but his squad is just full of big black men. I like Koeman because he doesn't take shit. He fully criticized Wanyama when he got a red for being a retard did the same for Mane.
>>66910067
I watched them be convinced outplayed by West Ham at home today.
Also, I'm not talking about how good the team is this year, I'm talking about how difficult it is to run a football club over 5-10 years and the financial implications of keeping it in the top 4.

Considering that a lot of the big signings didn't do the job and he had to resort to youth and players he already had, I don't think it proves anything. It proves that LVG is a slightly better manager who was slightly better prepared for the challenge than Moyes, but that's it.
Also the fact that LVG's continued to spend huge money and regressed as a team also disproves your wasteman theory.
>>66909807
Thats Wenger and his scouts fault thou. You don't need to spend dosh on avarage players (like Walcott, for example) when players like Kante, Mahrez, Lukaku, Coman, etc... are cheap as fuck. But no, lets spend dosh on players like Welbeck...

Right lads, I come to this thread on a regular basis to have a bit of a laugh at you lot. On this occasion I began feeling sympathy. I was gonna leave it - but then one of you absolute slags actually has this opinion and it reminds me why people hate you as a fan base. I can't feel sympathy for you. You're ungrateful; you think your team is bigger than your team actually is; you both overrate and slag-off your same players in the same breath. Couple all of this with the genuinely statistically anomalous rate of autism in your fan base - I just can't identify with you on any common level. I hope you finish 5th and you all get a reality check and start supporting your squad without fostering such a negative atmosphere for them. Imagine playing for Arsenal. Imagine the prospect of signing for Arsenal given the climate you guys create for the team. Gain some perspective.

>Being owned by Stan Kroenke

>>66902221
Kroenke sees Arsenal as nothing more than a Sporting brand. He only wants to see how much he can get away with before it colapses. And it will not colapse.
He will not agree to sacking Wenger because he serves his interests well.
Kroenke is the one who needs to leave. He never will tho, Arsenal must be a very profitable business for him.
>>66914800
You're right but Wenger needs to leave too.
>>66914821
Of course he needs to leave. I didn't mean to say he souldn't leave. He won't because Kroenke won't sack him and he is too stubborn to resing.
Arsene is not a bad manager, but after so many years his game has gotten stale and he isn't able to motivate the players anymore. It would be better for both Arsenal and him if he resigned. There's a good reason why most managers don't stick with the same team as long as Wenger has done. Hell, most managers don't stay in the same team for more than 5 years.

14/15 was really bad. Ozil, Giroud, each spent around 3 months out. Debuchy had injuries. Walcott was out for around 6/7. All decently paid players.
>>66916100

WOBs make me sick, wanting to throw out of the boat a man who has given >us so much in exchange of so little. Imagine having Van Gaal, spending +150m on signings and still be garbage, or perhaps Pellegrini, spending 49m on Sterling and 32m on shit players like Otamendi... baka desu senpai

Gabriel is really bad in all honesty, there are about 15 brazilian CBs better than him, but what are you gonna do, Wenger passed on signing (or should I say 'almost-signed') Dedé in 2011, and now this is what you got.
>>66917557

>Alderweireld at 27

>>66917636
Yes, he was a top 5 CB in our league last year. For once a "brazilian starlet" that isn't a made-up media fabrication just to hype whoever mediocre brazilian an european team signs, no matter how unproven he is back home.
Jemerson is class, ALREADY better than GabbyP despite being 2 years younger (thus, another signing Wenger missed), although he's not as good as Dedé, Miranda or Thiago Silva (all of which won the silver ball "best CB in the league 3x before moving to europe - jemerson won only one).
Way better than that Wallace shitter too. I'm sure he'll develop well.
>>66917886
What about Marlon from Fluminense?
>>66910543
why is fulham out of order?
>>66917931
meme, not very good even for a 19 year old, managed the incredible feat of scoring 2 own goals in his first season
but Fluminense (his team), just like Santos, has a deal of first-refusal with Barcelona, which is why every one of their overhyped youngsters gets lot of european attention
Gérson (Roma for 16m hahah oh wow he's so fucking shit), Kenedy (he's shit, people hopped on his bandwagon when he got a few caps for Chelski but he's shit you'll all see), Robert (loan with buyout option to Barcelona B, mediocre as fuck), and now Marlon.
Fluminense can't into youth products, their Rio de Janeiro fanbase is just to small compared to Flamengo/Vasco, so their pool of youth products is smaller. The only Rio team which still consistently produces great players is Vasco, despite being a terribly-run team who just got relegated. Coutinho (Liverpool), Allan (Napoli), Dedé (Cruzeiro, still great but never got a move to yurop and now he's too old for that), Romulo (good DM from CSKA) and Alex Teixeira (former waxtap/now china), also Luan (23yr old CB scouted by Leverkusen). Evander is probably next, a highly-skilled 17yr old AM/LW, already being scouted by all big clubs, getting a debut this year.
Flamengo has the largest youth pool, being the biggest fanbase in the country with a 40m fanbase and youth who travels from all over the country just to be on their trials, but lately they haven't been so good on the youth end.
São Paulo clubs nowadays are better than Rio clubs at producing good players for the first time ever, Santos being the noteworthy mention. South clubs are stepping up their game too. And I swear Rodrigo Dourado is a way better DM than Elneny, and United was set on stepping up the chase for him, but I'm sure Van Gaal just looked at another hue and thought "nah this is not ze filohsofie".

>>66918025
Is Gabriel Barbosa good?
>>66917886
good to know, a shame monaco will probably sell him for €40m to a PL club after two seasons but if he can help them to make ligue 1 less boring that would be that already
and I agree with you for wallace, he's 21 so there is still hope, at least fabinho is getting better
>>66918094
>>66918092
He's alright, played his first season as a ST (10 league goals) and his 2nd season as LW (another 10 league goals).
He's still developing, far from a complete player but that's a given for a 19/20 year old. We'll see how he does testing himself against the likes of Tah and Mammana in the Olympics.
Not sure he'll ever be world-class though. I'd put him on a "scout but wait" list.
Oh right, one last thing on GabbyP I don't think many people know:
He and David Luiz come from the same club, Vitória, from Bahia. Clearly they're teaching something very fundamentally wrong to their CBs over there.
Any similarity will not be a mere coincidence :^)

Good afternoon lads.
Wenger out.
Why is Arsene's ratio with defenders so poor?
Elite: Campbell, Cole, Toure
Strong: Lauren, Sylvinho, van Bronckhorst
Erm yea they're good usually: Gallas, Clichy,
Sagna, Vermaelen Koscielny, Mertesacker
Squad players at best: Eboue, Gibbs, Monreal
Failures: Santos, Cygan, Stepanovs, Senderos, Squillaci, Silvestre, Traore, Djorou, Hoyte, Miquel, Debuchy
More data needed: Jenkinson, Bellerin, Chambers, Gabriel

>>66918992

>>66920356
There are talented youngsters coming through with more bottle, no need to scramble to meet a HG quota.
>>66920345
Nah we'd have actually had some shots on target, been dargerous from free kicks and been able to hold the ball up front woth Giroud from Cech's kicks. Welbeck doesn't even win headers.
>>66920365
There's also a maximum number of non-HG players allowed in a PL-squad, meaning you'd have to kick someone out for Podolski.
Point of the matter is, trading Walcott for Podolski is stupid.

>>66920388
Giroud wouldn't get a shot and make the three supporting him even worse
>>66920474
I don't think you realize how shit Giroud can be. This isn't a Welbeck-Giroud comparison thing, it's about what damage Giroud could do to Barcelona.
In general, it's useless to discuss this, because it's all guesswork on a non-existing situation. Based on his overall form and his ability, I'd strongly advise against assuming Giroud would be certain to be a threat to Barcelona out of all teams, seeing how he has had absolutely invisible games against teams that are far more inferior than Barcelona.
tl;dr: You're acting like Giroud isn't shit enough to squander every opportunity to score.
Arsenal are doing as well as they could with the money they spent in the last 10 years.
Blame your greedy owners who apparently hate glory, not the manager you fucking mongs
I like how the Koeman train has gradually kicked up pace and is now in full swing on /arse/
>>66920493
He would have got a shot. Making the others worse is meaningless, since playing Welneck may as well be playing with 10 men.
>>66920506
I'd advise against writing Giroud off because he's been shit in some matches. This is about comparing how Giroud or Welbeck would have, or did, perform against Barca. Welbeck was typically total shit. Giroud could have had a good game. Welbeck was never going to have a good game.
>>66920516
the owners have given him money, he's the one who won't use it. keep up retard
>>66920551
giroud was the reason we weren't more fluid against southampton, stoke, and others. welbeck was the reason arsenal restored their potency ever so slightly.
>>66920580
>buzzwords
nah
>>66920551
No, you're trying to make it like a Welbeck-Giroud thing. Giroud is an insignificant player and isn't of the type of quality to warrant statements like:
>we'd have actually had some shots on target
>He'd have more shots on target than Welbeck.
like it's a certainty. It's not. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a player like that. Giroud is not. There is a huge chance he would've only annoyed people like against Monaco for example.
But at least you've changed it to "Giroud could have had a good game" now.
Neither Giroud nor Welbeck will ever be better than potentially useful options off the bench.
Same for Walcott.
The needs are exactly the same as the start of the season: top class striker, top class centre back, new manager.
>>66920768
And you're making it would like Giroud is a total scrub. He's not. He generally has shots on target every game he plays, and he has scored several good goals against great opponents in the CL.
Welbeck is most likely to not have a shot on target in any game he plays, and has not scored a goal except in 1 CL game.
The statement "Giroud would have had shots on target/more SoT than Welbeck" is based on facts.
>>66920824
giroud also has a terrible shot/conversion rate, as does welbeck
both aren't really good enough
>>66920830
