Well both teams were playing very physical and in the first the refs were letting Tampa get away with murder while calling the Wings every time they so much as tapped a Tampa player. After the most blatant refpuck of the game they started calling Tampa more to make up for it and the fans were just as butthurt as the players. What could have been a good game ended up being a shitshow, culminating with all those frustrations boiling over at the very end.

It seems to be this way for any of the southern team home games. The home team is getting favored by the refs in a disgustingly obvious manner. I think Bettman let the refs know that the home crowds off non-traditional markets need extra excitement from home team pp's to stay interested in the sport. It's especially bad when the home team is leading; they can't so much as pass gas in front of the home players without getting a penalty.

I've watched bits of most of them, but concentrated more on the West series because, well, they are the best series/teams. But I've seen enough to know that what I said is true. Even if the penalties come to close to equaling out by the end of the game, it still doesn't mean both teams were effected the same way. Case in point:
Nashville was dominating the Ducks last night when a soft penalty was called after the play on a goon tripping another goon. After the penalty the momentum Nashville had was gone. It should be noted that the home crowd was basically silent during the Preds dominance, and started to cheer again when the momentum shifted. Pretty obvious that the refs are picking and choosing penalties based on swinging momentum in favor of the home team to give the shit casual "fans" something to cheer about. Can't have them turning their attention to other sports and have a bunch of empty seats in the next game.

No. As far as entertainment value goes, the Wings/Bolts have had some great offensive and defensive plays. Easily the most entertaining. The games are wide open and you can expect a lot of highlight reel fun.
The Kings/Sharks and Blues/Hawks are great because they're such great matchups, but the Blues/Hawks play extremely safely and the Kings/Sharks single game was completely interfered with by refs.
The worst series is easily the Wild/Stars. Literally nothing is going to come of that if the Wild can't muster up enough offense to score on someone like Lehtonen.
