Kobe has more actual accolades (More rings, more 60+ games etc. and while I think it's hard to choose between them, I have to say LeBron takes the edge. I don't mean to take anything away from Kobe, but certain things, like the 81 point game, doesn't particularly impress me as much as his other achievements. 60% from the field is pretty good, but you can't deny he got fed the ball the entire night because the rest of the team were pish poor. Keeping up that consistency throughout 81 points though is fairly impressive, but the sheer number itself doesn't really make a huge difference to me.

Why thought? Assists were harder to come by in Oscar's era. Rebounds were easier to get and there were more of them, relative to today, but rebounding guards were not really very common and most guards would not have went for large rebounding numbers just like most guards today run back on defense instead of crashing the offensive glass or get out on the fast break instead of crashing the defensive glass.
I think due to TALENT parity, it would be much harded to avg. a triple double today. The rules and playstyles have actually made it somewhat easier, though.

It is harder to average a triple dub today but not because of some talent parity but because of the difference in the game with zone defense, taking time to set complex plays to create openings instead of constant fastbreaks, and now it's all about effecient shooting, lowering the need for rebounding if the opponent is hitting their shots constantly and not missing them, at least against GS.
