take a look at your best players, use the "highlight key abilities for position" thing and try to put them in their best roles/positions, then design some tactic around them with your other players
you're going to have to experiment a lot, some of your attempts will fail, but there's really no way around it. you can always start another save

don't sign too many players at once
do what you can to keep player morale high (praising good performances, congratulating them for awards, etc.) because it's pretty important
listen to your assistant's/staff's recommendations when you're starting out. but be aware that they are fallible and that if you're pretty sure they're wrong about something (how good a player is, what strategy you should be using, what you should teach a player to do, etc.), you're probably right

Basically, all of my coaches are in agreement that he's currently 2.5 stars relative to my team.
Which means, if my AssMan and U21 AssMan are right, this is as good as he's gonna get.
If my U18 HC and U18 AssMan are right, he can get quite a bit better over the next year.
If my almost-cheese level of bullshit Head of Youth Development is right, this guy can become world class and will significantly improve over the next few years.
Personally I'm not fond of his cowardice or his jumping. If this is as good as he's gonna get I'd sell now to make maximum profit (don't wanna pay his wages for years). If he's gonna get significantly better, I wanna see where he's gonna go, and either make super profits later, or give him a shot at being a starter.
Can you check how many season tickets you sold the previous season or do you only know by them telling you the difference before the new season starts?

Yeah, he's currently 7th or 8th on my depth chart, so finding playing time for him is tough. Which is why, if this is as good as he's getting, I'd sell.
But I don't want to sell him if he's gonna turn into a world class beast and end up with Man City tormenting me for a fucking decade.
And as for the bravery, I like to build around high aggro/bravery as a concept. Because they affect a lot of things that don't appear in stats, and because they're the only major things I can't improve through training or experience. But I can live without it for the right player.

Just started a game in FM 2015 (my first game) as an unemployed scrubs who doesn't know anything about football (me irl basically).
Hired by a league 2 dane team
Won my first match 2-1
Several questions.
1. My attack worked wonders and had stats like 23 attemps with more than half on mark.
Was I unlucky or their GK was very good?
2. Despite those stats I had 55% possession. Should I aim for more?
3. Because of the tier2 team and my stats the players are complaining about the quality of training.
Can I do something about it? All my stats are bad (1/2 stars) and my assistant is at 1 stars.

1. Play more games to see if it was just a good game from their keeper. I'd say that your players are shooting at his hands though.
2. Depends on how do you want to play. Usually possession football works better the better your team is.
3. See if you can hire an extra coach, check what you and your assman are doing (training>coaches) and the general training in case you are being too hard / too weak on your players.

I have 5 (F I V E) great striker prospects. Two of them are already CL-tier at a shit club. I will have to use AT LEAST strikers to make full use of t hem.
I also have two great left wingers (both can play ML and AML).
I also have one great CM, two CM/DM prospects and one defender that can play both DC and DR (he's a manlet though and not great at attacking).

I always train my MC's and DM's when they're young to be WBR's and WBL's depending on their feet. That way I can carry 1 MC/WBR and 1 DM/WBL on the bench and cover 5 spots in my 5-3-2.
