Can anyone post proof that Pop actually wanted to win all the games that the Spurs lost this year?

Every loss can be attributed to either resting key players OR trying to figure out strategies against possible playoff opponents
>>
Personally, I respect the Thunder way more than the Warriors
>>
Everytime time the spurs lose theres some fagot saying its because Pop somehow wanted to lose because muh strategy

Yall nigas geting BTFO again in the 1st round and im gonna enjoy every second of it just like last season.
>>
>>66764343
How is it not strategy to plan losses?

No other coach is smart enough to figure that out - that the regular season doesn't fucking matter.

The Spurs can be the 8 seed and still be favored to win it all
>>
>>66764358

>losing home court advantage doesnt matter

wew
e
w
>>
>playing game 81 like its game 7 of the finals

Good work idiot Warriors. You just fucked yourself over for the playoffs
>>
>>66764358
>How is it not strategy to plan losses?

Even pop himself would smack your idiot dum ass.
>>
>>66764390
When has the Spurs EVER needed home court advantage?

>>66764408
There's a reason why Duncan and Diaw didn't play on Sunday. He'd rather have the loss than give away too much of his game plan
>>
>>66764422

to beat the warriors

too bad that didnt even save them
>>
>>66764433
You do know in 2014 the Thunder went 4-0 against the Spurs

How much good did that do them?

That 2014 Thunder team might be better than this year's Warriors team
And this year's Spurs team is better than the 2014 Spurs
>>
>>66764422

Yeah because theyre old and need the rest, thats no strategy.

And spurs NEED homecourt for the warriors, stop being such a deluded arrogant, every series wont be as perfect as the finals vs the heat so every bit of help will be needed.
>>
>>66764452

I dont see how that matters since the warriors beat the spurs AND the thunder this year
>>
>>66764422
>When has the Spurs EVER needed home court advantage?

Last year? The Spurs looked set up for this same Warriors matchup, but got upset by the Pelicans in the final game of the regular season, losing the division to the Rockets, falling from 2nd to 6th seed and then losing in the first round to the Clippers unceremoniously
>>
>>66764459
>Diaw
>old

You know how I know you don't watch basketball?

>>66764462
Is this the famed mental gymnastics I've been hearing so much about?

The THUNDER went 4-0 against the Spurs instead of the shitty 3-1 the Warriors went against the Spurs, and they still got raped in the Western Conference Finals

The regular season doesn't matter!

>>66764468
Many of the first round games were refballed
>>
>>66763957
So they wanted to lose in the first round last year?
>>
>>66764509

so ignoring the fact that that was more than a year ago, and the spurs got BTFO by the rockets who the Warriors destroyed, that still doesnt erase the fact that the Warriors steamrolled both teams
>>
>>66764523
Game 1: pop wanted to see what Doc's game plan was
Game 2: Spurs win
Game 3: Spurs rape
Game 4: Refball
Game 5: Spurs win
Game 6: Refball
Game 7: Luck and refball

Ok, but you're not disputing the fact the 2014 Thunder are better than the 2016 Warriors and the 2016 Spurs are better than the 2014 version of themselves
>>
>>66764509

Hes 33 years old, thats old for sport standards.
>>
>>66764569

the 2014 arent better than the 2016 warriors, because the 2016 warriors are 72-9 while the 2014 Thunder were 45-37
>>
Can someone tell me how the Warriors plan to stop Leonard and Aldridge, two playoff stalwarts?
>>
>>66764569

2016 just tied the best record in NBA and are coming of a championship season and what looks like to be a two time MVP, how can the 2014 Thunder who achieved nothing but MVP Durant better?
>>
>>66764560
Spurs fans are the bitchiest, they still cry about game 6 against the Thunder even though the refs handed them game 1 and were tripping over themselves to hand the Spurs game 5 and they were too inept to capitalize.

they see the refball that happens against them but when they get the calls they pretend not to see it.
>>
>>66764592

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013%E2%80%9314_Oklahoma_City_Thunder_season
>>
>>66764621

I dont see how this disproves my point

72-9 is still better than 59-23
>>
>>66764599
>tying 72 wins
>accomplishment

teams like the lakers and spurs could've tied this record over and over again but they realize that the regular season doesn't mean fucking anything.

shit franchises like the Warriors treat the regular season like it means something.

If Pop really wanted to, this team could've won 75 games. Easily.
>>
Who wins this 7 game series

2016 Spurs

2014 Spurs

>>
>>66764655
2014 Spurs in 5 games

the depth in the Western conference is pretty down right now and it's inflating the records of the top 4 teams
>>
>>66764657
Rest is more important.

the 2001 Lakers went 15-1 in the playoffs. People remember that more than 72-10 because that Bulls team went 16-3, which really isn't that impressive.
>>
>>66764684
>People remember that more than 72-10

Wow, pure fucking delusion. Kill yourself faggot lmao
>>
>>66764684

>people remember a 16 game playoff record more than the greatest* regular season record of all time

are you sure about that?
>>
>>66764700
>>66764702
Do you get a ring for winning the regular season?
>>
>>66764684

That team didnt even break 60 wins, do you seriously not think that two competitive players such as Kobe and Shaw, not to mention Phil Jackson. Wouldve wanted to take the record if they were in the same position as the warriors?
>>
>>66764728
no

do you get a different ring for going 16-12 instead of going 16-0?
>>
So when the Mavs almost eliminated the Spurs in the first round in 2014, that was pop's just trolling?

Holy shit! Pop is one crazy man!
>>
Pop employs a beaver nuggies for performance reward strategy with his troops. At a certain point, the Spurs win too much and pops wants those golden bv nuggies to himself. Selfish bastard. Only hardcore Spurs fans will understand.
>>
>>66764728
They both won the championship and the Bulls were far more memorable. I suggest you suck a cock
>>
>>66764739
Yes. People will remember that team as a fluke
>>
>>66764739
16-12 is more impressive because that team would have to had to fucking grind out four game 7s to win the chip. people would be shitting bricks during that entire run.

it would be epic. nobody would forget it
>>
>>66764768
and people will remember 72(or 73) wins too

you are proving that you literally have no point at all
>>
>>66764736
Shaq is a lazy sack of shit. I fucking hate these scumbag sports-hating faggots who think the Golden State Warriors taking the whole season seriously and gunning for greatness in the face of hardship is somehow a bad thing or disrespect it. Go watch a different sport, these guys are making it great.
>>
I'll tell you a secret about Gs fans. All of their basketball takes come from one premise: Why aren't [team]OR[player] like the Warriors? They don't know anything about other teams or franchise's strengths and weaknesses, they try to frame any discussion into beating the Warriors at their own game.

I'll tell you another Gs secret. They have a sample size of 14 postseason games + the 2013 exit, compared to 148 regular season games during their stellar run. All their talking points in assessing how the Gs will fare in this postseason is derived from those regular seasons because they're simply too new a championship franchise so that is all what they can cling to. No western conference champion is legit until they eliminate a Popovich-era contending Spurs in the postseason, every non-bandwagoner fan knows this. Do this first and solidify respect. Otherwise, all i hear is a fanbase who protests too much, as if they aren't defending champs. The onus is completely on them to repeat. They shook.
>>
>>66764813

>the warriors are scum for trying to win all of their games

>>
>>66764682
If Spurs are eliminated, are they going to get the band all together again? I miss Cojo, Ferrari and prime Tiago so much.
>>
>>66764831
They shook the NBA establishment so much that they were immediately dismissed as champions the moment they won. Obviously you didn't watch basketball before this season.
>>
>>66764836
Read again my friend, I'm saying GSW is going for something great when other teams just settle for mediocrity. They are taking the entire season seriously, it's very laudable and awesome.

If what wore them down? Curry has sat out 20 fourth quarters.

You're acting like they're playing starters over 40 minutes a night to win these games. They're not. Draymond leads in minutes with 2800 and that's 13th most in the NBA. Curry and Klay are not in the top 20.

Compare it to the Raptors who have both Lowry and DeRozan in the top 10 minutes played.
>>
>>66764684
wat
>>
>>66765047
I honestly think people are numb to their greatness and don't realize how much better this team is, from top to bottom, than any other team in the NBA.
>>
>>66765080
and who are they supposed to put in to "not be gunning?"

Iggy? Livingston? Barbosa? Ezeli? Rush? all of these guys are already part of the rotation and play a ton every night.

the warriors rotation goes so deep that there's not anybody to sub in to rest players because they don't carry 5 scrubs
>>
>>66765134

so you're saying having a stacked team with no bad players is screwing them over
>>
>>66765134
Makes me wish the NBA would get rid of four teams so we could have deeper rosters and elevated standard of play.
>>
>>66765080
They're great, but they use the Regular season to "prove it" which just makes me want to see them lose.

I believe Cleveland is a better team at full strength.
>>
>>66765047
Yeah but how exhausted mentally do you think the Warriors are down the stretch?

The longer the starters play, the higher chance there's an injury risk
>>
>>66765171
They proved it last year when the won the championship. This is the greatest championship defense in 20 years, at least. Cleveland is complete dogshit, I cannot believe you said that.
>>
>>66765171

even though the warriors beat them in the finals last year, and beat them every time they played them this year?
>>
>>66765177
>Yeah but how exhausted mentally do you think the Warriors are down the stretch?

Not very.

>The longer the starters play, the higher chance there's an injury risk

Same for every team in the playoffs, it's a non-issue.
>>
>>66765190
>They proved it last year
No they didnt. They were down 2-1 to a broken Cavs team (almost 3-0) and didn't play the Spurs.

Luck

>They're great, but they use the Regular season to "prove it" which just makes me want to see them lose.

>>66765211

Someone prove to me beyond the reasonable doubt that the Warriors could even beat the CLIPPERS in a 7 game series?

They were without Blake for 3/4 of their contests and they were STILL close.

>>66765249
Pressure is relative, some people thrive on it, and it seems like a few of them play for the Warriors.

>>66765282
Did I stutter? Youre going to be eliminated by the Spurs soon, so gloat and troll now.
>>
Are the Warriors even better than the Spurs bench? I'm actually pretty unconvinced of that to be honest
>>
>>66765047
since the All-Star break their 3 core players have all seen their minutes rise and their numbers drop
>>
>>66765297

so if beating them in the NBA finals AND the regular season doesnt matter, how are they supposed to prove theyre better?
>>
>>66765280
They completely shat on the Cavs, who got lucky with one game. It was almost a 5 game sweep.
>>
>>66765303

considering they beat the team by 30 once, and double digits twice, Id say yes
>>
The Warriors are easily the biggest paper tiger frauds in sports history

Unprecedented luck bought them the success they now enjoy, but they arent built to sustain it. They're built to dominate, hotdog and showboat in the regular season where lack of effort and focus makes everything easier.

Their skill is a dead end unless they can somehow dodge the Spurs and a healthy LeBron team.

Not related to the topic (though I agree with you) but related to the Spurs. I'm what you call a basketball savant of sorts. Every time I watch the Spurs on TV, I'm live analyzing and always beating Sean Elliot to the punch. Also, I'm banned from most 2K communities because my strategies can not be bested. Anyway, my parents finally gave me money to go to a game, and I was close enough to the Spurs bench to provide my input. We were playing the Raptors and Lowry kept slipping through on high pick and rolls. Of course during time outs I shouted my input to Pop, and I think he heard me and implemented my strategy. Towards the end of the game, I threw a USB drive with my resume, schemes, and analysis on it so that hopefully the coaches get in contact with me to hire me on as a consultant for the playoffs then full time assistant next season. I'm not trying to brag that I got a job, my main point is that Spurs and their fans just get it. We understand basketball, and more importantly, we love beautiful basketball and will do anything to protect it.

I saw a Spurs fan yesterday and I just lost it. Fucking smug prick. I was eating an outside lunch at this nice little restaurant, and he was sitting eating some fucking salad. Salad. Typical fucking Spuds fan. He was there with his stupid Spuds fan wife who of course was eating a fucking salad too.

I could tell he thought he was part of the best fans in basketball. He didn't say anything, but the way that stupid prick was chewing. Jesus Christ. He had a fucking Spurs t-shirt on. I bet you he bought it at the team store like a fucking schmuck. He and the fucking stupid cashier probably had this big self-satisfactory exchange. "I'd like to buy this best t-shirt in basketball with the best money in basketball please." I couldn't fucking believe this asshole. He just kept going at this fucking salad like he's king of the world.

I just tried to ignore that attention seeking asshat but he just kept at it. Every time I looked away he'd conveniently grab for his hot ice or some fucking passive aggressive bullshit so that it would draw my eyes to him. LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME BEST FAN IN BASKETBALL RIGHT HERE. Jesus.

You should have seen his wife. What a bitch. The waitress came by to ask them how their food was and she relayed how fucking satisfied she was in the most smug way possible. This fucking fake-politeness Spurs fans put on is ridiculous.

Next thing I know that guy pulls out his phone and starts texting. Are you fucking shitting me? I bet he just had to text his stupid friend all about his fucking salad was almost as good as being in basketball heaven.

I couldn't fucking take it. I told that fucking idiot what a smug fucking retard he was. He was like "dude what are you talking about" like he didn't fucking know what a prick he was. I fucking tackled him right there. Staff called the cops on me as if I did anything wrong. They are actually going to fucking put me on trial for assault. Fucking Spuds fans.

Poppovich has more rings and more NBA experience than every single person in the Warriors organization combined

He knows what he's doing. He really wasn't trying to win on Sunday. You think a winning lineup includes sitting Danny Green in crunch time for a Kevin Martin who can't play defense?
