Why are fans of the NBA so obsessed with debating who is the GOAT?
Jordan is pretty much unanimously accepted as the NBA GOAT.
Other sports have a much bigger discussion about that.

The level of impact one guy can have on a team is greater than any sport. In the NBA if you have the best player in the league, you're pretty much guaranteed to be a Championship contender unless the team is constructed like complete garbage. Also it's easier to compare across positions in basketball than other sports typically.
