what went wrong /sp/?
Philly is such a pathetic sports town.
inflated long-term contracts for multiple veteran starting pitchers at the same time in a hope to dominate on pitching all the way to a WS win, leaving nothing left for good development and investing in the future, along with the decline of Ryan Howard and loss of Lidge
Mortgaged the future to try to win more World Series. Also saddled with a bad Ryan Howard contract. Now we're stuck waiting on prospects to mature.

bad luck and shitty contracts. At the time it would be acceptable to pay howard and ruiz that money.Howards achilles tear couldn't have been prevented. If that hadn't happened He could have still been a 20 HR a year player at his age.Ruiz just aged.

they shipped off Giles and Papelbon for prospects
Ryan Howard's contract
Cliff Lee's contract

Howard still had 23 HR last year but the problem is now he's a platoon guy and doesn't play against leftys.

Bet it all on the Lee/Halladay/Hamels/Oswalt rotation and got outdueled by the Cards

nothing they're still rebuilding they were never going to be good this year.
No one in philly has any idea how to run a sports franchise is what happened
Everyone seems to forget >we still won it all less than a decade ago and that's way more than most franchises can say right now.

A GM that believed that advanced statistics were some form of witchcraft and threw contracts at past their prime veterans instead of rebuilding 5 years ago when they really needed prospects.

not only that he gutted our farm system for rental players like hunter pence and then watched them either move on and win world series or just fizzle out and move on
Reminder:
>Win World Series in 08
>Lose World Series in 09
>Lose in NLCS in 10
>Lose in NLDS in 11
>Lose division and miss postseason in 12

hinkie embraced analytics and honestly philly sports is such low hanging fruit you shouldn't have to make shit up to take shots at them.
