I was a minor league washout. I was drafted by the Mets in one of the mid rounds and spent few seasons in the rookie teams before getting transferred to the Fireflies, St. Lucie and was sent back and forth within a couple of seasons. I was promoted to Binghamton and had a UCL injury. After that I just decided on going back to school rather than continue playing.
I probably could have kept playing and made it to AAA and hoped for a MLB contract. But it was a big gamble and unlikely. I didn't want to spend years slogging through the minors and be left with nothing to show for it. The pay is shit in the minors you can make more working for minimum wage. There's loads of people that get trapped in the minors hoping for a chance on the 40 man roster that'll either get them that MLB contract or bonus pay. They're all broke. If you're in the top 100 prospects you'll have it good and can demand more pay to make it worth your while so it's not even a risk. For everybody else it's a big risk.

Basically anyone else think from what they've seen that literally every AL team could be a postseason or at least wild card contender except the A's?
Yankees: arod as well as their young rotation and new core can rise then to an easy WC berth
Red Sox: looking for some talent performing where they should but if they do, then whoa division crown is possible
Jays: no reason to not expect stroman and Estrada to shut the opposition down while bautista, encarnacion and Donaldson light up the scoreboard on way to an easy division title
Orioles: should be able to thrive with their above average rotation and crush Davies resigned, WC definitely possible
Rays: they beat Cuba! But jokes aside an above average team in all facets. I can see them taking a WC possibility
Tigers: strengthened the team with Upton and they still have miggy and Verlander, theyre still in position for a WC berth
Twins: young talent performing last year but faltering down the stretch makes you believe with another year under their belt, they can contend for a postseason appearance, Sano homering all the way
Royals: easy division favorites, defending world series champs retaining most of their good players and playmakers. Easy indeed.
Indians: very good rotation, Cy Kluber carrying this team to a WC berth is not unreasonable
Astros: division favorites, young talent getting better, keuchal and correa will take then easily to the division crown
Rangers: it's bounceback time for the Rangers as they look even more refueled now to make a big grab at a WC easily
Mariners: it's finally looking up for seattle, the Cano contract could easily payoff this year along with Felix and the rotation, Seattle could have a really big chance to end it's long playoff drought
