Now I'll preface this by making it clear I agree the age of consent is arbitrary, and I lean towards actually lowering it to 14 based on evidence in other countries of the effect it has.
When you consider what went in to deciding that 6 year sentence though, it isn't as ridiculous.
Yes, she was 15 and was clearly consenting. But then you have to accept that as a famous figure there is the need to a) make an example of him and b) take into account the different realtionship dynamic that a famous figure has with a member of the public.
Then there's the fact that he shows clear criminal intent. He made himself aware of the age of consent and still made a clear decision to pursue her knowing it was illegal. Judges are usually sympathetic in cases of misjudged age or idiots not knowing the age of consent, so the trade off is less leniency when you make a clear decision to break the law.
Finally, this also includes a charge of possessing footage of animal sex. That alone shows that this isn't just a case of a guy thinking with his dick and not his brain. He is a clear sexual deviant, and I'm guessing thats why he chose to pursue an underage girl - because he gets off to deviant behaviour.
