They are playing as one; each player can count on his linemate to be exactly where they anticipate and they are moving fluidly as a unit. Simply put beating the Wild comes down to puck luck and capitaling on scoring chances (though the Wild have the best goaltender and captain in the playoffs) because a full strength Wild team is just stronger and faster and better equipped than the opposition.
This isn't some home ice advantage gimmick ala 12th man, though Minnesota does have very boisterous fans and a famed crowd, and it isn't because they are on a lucky streak. This is when a coach and GM have assembled the pieces required to fit the scheme designed and it working as intended. This is when the cogs are all turning and the wheel is spinning. The watch face is ticking because each little intricate piece is doing exactly what it needs to do.

The loss to Shittsburgh was one thing. They were that day and are currently the better team, and the flyers were due for an off game.

Yeah, they still got a point, but the way they ended up with it says it all: they got outskated, played shit defense, relied entirely on their one remaining competent goalie to carry them, and ultimately choked in grand fashion, looking absolutely pathetic as usual in the shootout.
Let's face it, they will, in all likelihood, utterly shit the bed again in Colorado, then proceed west, helplessly shitting all over themselves en route to a shutout at the hands of the Coyotes. And then things will only go downhill from there.
Maybe I'm wrong, maybe this team really is different from than the ones we've grown used to over the last few years. And if I am proven wrong I'll be more than happy to accept the title of regular dumb dumb negative nancy. If you look at a lot of the young Swedish prospects right now they are all undersized offense first type players. They use to be really good at producing solid two way players with the occasional great offensive guy (Forsberg, Sundin, Lidstrom, Sedin sisters), but now it seems like their young players all want to be the next Karlsson and so they are giving up on playing defense altogether.
The Finns have always been hard working; what they lack in talent they always made up for in work ethic and a sound defensive game. They had very few top stars, but when they did, they were amazing players (Sellane, Kurri). It seems like their young players are generally harder working and willing to play bottom 6 roles. But now they may finally be ready to take the next step and produce top 6 players who play a complete game (Barkov, potentially Pulju and Laine). They could be entering the next level of their countries progression into the Canada, USA, Russia, and Sweden territory.

The Oilers fucked up by not tanking sooner. They missed out on the 2009 draft where Tavares(1), Hedman(2), Duchene(3), and OEL(6) went before their pick (Paajarvi 10). Missed out in 2008 where Stamkos(1), Doughty(2), Bogosiain(3), Pietrangelo(4), Myers(12), and Karlsson(15) went before their pick (Eberle 22). Compare the top picks in drafts previous to 2010 and you will see that the Oilers drafted in seriously weak drafts. Hall/Seguin in 2010 was the only truely good top picks. 2011 was noticeably weaker, with RNH going first then Landeskog, Huberdeau, and Larsson after. 2012 was the weakest in over a decade with Yak going first then Murray, Galchenyuk, and Reinhart. 2013 was fairly weak too. 2014 would have been a good year to win the lottery as Ekblad was the top pick, but still that draft is looking pretty weak overall (still early though). They finally got a true top pick with McDavid in 2015.
So if they follow the same path as the Penguins after they got Crosby, then the Oilers will be a playoff team next year and a cup contender in two years.
