are they the model for professional sports teams across the globe? they're literally the only dynasty in the modern era.
>>
>>66296522

They've only been good for 7 years. They only made the playoffs once in 10 years before that. That's how they got good.

Also I'm not a fan but the Patriots are the only true dynasty of the modern era.
>>
>>66296541
Hawks have won in 3 out of the past 5 years and been in contention literally every year since 2009. No team comes close. Definitely not the shitriots.
>>
>>66296550

you must be 15 years old if for you 5 good years make a dynasty.

what is success? pure championships? Then the bulls that won 6 titles in 7 years. You said not the red wings? theyve made 22 straight postseasons. Spurs have made like postseasons in 18 of last 20 years with multiple championships.

And they cheat.

Even if they didnt cheat, the Pats have 3 championships in the last 12 seasons. The Blackhawks have 3 championships in 6 seasons.

YEP CONFIRMED FOR DYNASTY.

Fucking Blackhawks retards.
>>
Detroit is the best NHL dynasty right now. Considering their success carried over into the cap era speaks volumes to their learned ability on what it takes to win.

Blackhawks and LA are 2 and 3.

As much as I'm loathe to admit it, the Patriots are the only major sports team to be a dynasty right now.

If the Warriors stay at the level they're at right now for a few more years, them too.

>>66296522
OP, nice bait. Please define what you mean by 'dynasty' and what you mean by 'modern era' in each sport.
>>
>>66302520
You're not going to see a string of consecutive wins in any sport. It's too competitive and the post season rigors (especially hockey) put too much stress on the body. You are going to need down time to recover. What the Hawks have done is simply unmatched by any team since the 90s Bulls. It's truly remarkable.
>>
>>66302894
I wasn't being sarcastic, I was really curious what he defines as a dynasty. Is it a team that wins its division for X out of Y years? A team that has won a certain amount of championships in a given time? A team that has just made the playoffs a consecutive number of years? Is it different for each sport?

I'd argue that in baseball, winning the World Series is not a pre-requisite for being a dynasty, since until recently a team had to win its division or have the next best record in the league to make the playoffs. In other words, the Atlanta Braves of the late 90s were a dynasty, even though they only have one W.S. to show for it. The St Lois Cardinals are a dynasty because they are a franchise that consistently makes post-season appearances.

On the other hand, simply making the playoffs in hockey isn't enough because half the teams make the playoffs.

And when the Kings win it this year are they a dynasty too? I will say this, the NHL is the only league where the good teams have to shed good players due to the hard salary cap. In order to stay a legitimate cup contender for 5+ years is impressive.
>>
>>66304735
That's how it always is. Once a team starts winning, suddenly everyone is a diehard fan. I was born and raised in Chicago, and watched this shit happen with the White Sox. Before they won the pennant a decade ago, you could hardly find a Sox fan. Once they did, they were everywhere. Now once again you can't find any.
>>
>>66303654
No.
>>
>>66305475
It wasn't this bad with the Sox, though. Games were still cheap the following year. The Cubs have it pretty bad now desu

Dynasties in North American sports, especially in hockey, are a thing of the past. The closest we have to one are the Kings and Hawks... but they aren't dynasties; at least not in the traditional sense.
>>
>>66296550
A major part of that was luck. Getting Toews after Erik Johnson and Jordan Staal go ahead of him, then getting Kane 1st overall in a draft that was pretty pathetic overall. They've done some good things to put talent around them, and Keith's a stud, but without those two guys they're not winning all those Cups.

>the NHL is the only league where the good teams have to shed good players due to the hard salary cap
So does the NFL, and in MLB small market teams often can't afford to keep their players because they're can't offer contracts like the major market teams. The NBA's the only major league where a team can largely remain intact for an extended amount of time.
>>
>>66310161
> So does the NFL...

Completely different animal. The average player's career is something like 4 years, so big market free agents demanding 9 figure contracts are not really a thing. Additionally, NFL teams can circumvent the cap via signing bonuses. Also, the NFL is the only major sport that allows teams to outright cut a player and not pay him whenever they feel like it.

> MLB small market teams often can't afford...

That's bullshit. Between revenue sharing and the luxury tax, small market teams make plenty of capital to invest in their organizations. An MLB team can regularly be competitive with a payroll of $120-140 mil. The dirty secret is that most sports franchise owners have other business ventures, so they funnel money into them instead of the franchise.

The big achilles heel to MLB right now is that most players hit free agency at 29-31 and want 9 figure long-term deals which teams cannot retract if the player gets hurt or declines more than expected.

Lol no, hawks are a meme and will have no fans again soon enough
>>
>>66296541
Patriots have only been good for the past 14 years
>>
>>66296550
Wings have won the same amount of cups in the same amount of time, except more finals appearances, and another cup down the road and the success has lasted going on 25 years.

even they are a dynasty in question.
>>
>>66296570
The SF Giants have done what the Hawks are doing

A slightly better Dynasty?
