Regarding team names in the MLS, should traditional American names (ie. Galaxy, Eathquakes, Sounders, Timbers, etc) be scratched for a name w/ European influence? (ie. FC Dallas, Sporting KC, Atlanta United FC)
I just cringe every time I see the cartoonish "Galaxy" across this badge.

The US needs to stick to what's typical for US sports: The team name should only be the city/state, and there should be a plural surname of some sorts.
i.e. Seattle Sounders. Stupid name (what the hell is a Sounder anyways?), but it gets the job done.
The reason soccer is still not big in the US is because it's trying too hard to be like Europe. The US should take pride in being a bit different. There is literally no reason to add "FC" to the end of a team's name here. There is really, really no reason that Real Salt Lake should exist. What the fuck were they thinking?
The US also needs to find a way to beef up the talent pool. Perhaps hyping up the college soccer scene could help with this. College football and basketball are insanely popular, considering they are technically unprofessional. Fans love watching players develop in college and see how they turn out in the pros. Right now no one gives a shit about college soccer; I believe that if they did, this hype would carry over into the pros.
