This has honestly always bothered me. A player can be almost completely out of bounds, but in the air, and touch the pylon with the ball. It's bizarre when you consider the term touchdown.
Also, in college, you have to hand the ball to the referee or risk a penalty. Thus, the ball is NEVER touched down, essentially.
