He was QB coach in the years Vick regressed hard (which probably wasn't his fault, but I don't see him having helped much), and he's done a fine enough job in KC but I haven't seen enough. From my understanding, Andy does most of the play-calling there and Pederson helps sometimes, especially with 2 minute drills.
Honestly, I don't want him as a HC. I want someone I can associate right away with success, giving the players confidence to bounce back. Firing a coach that gets you to the playoffs consistently because the team doesn't get to the Super Bowl is idiotic and how you become the Browns. Yes, the play calling can be foolish sometimes...it is for every team. Yes, he's coasting with Rodgers, but the offense was crippled this season and they still made it. Yes, he hasn't been to the SB since they won it... but he has won it. Thinking they should be winning it even more is a discredit to the achievements of the other teams and the harshness of the season teams endure, like Rodgers playing on one leg last year.
If you consistently get to the playoffs, then you consistently have the opportunity. Since Rodgers has come into his own, the Packers and their staff have gone to the playoffs every season and have won 10 games all but one season. With better than average QB, they are still a playoff team and the coaching has a lot to do with that.

On the same token, sometimes what's needed is shaking things up. I agree that the majority of times it's foolish to get rid of a consistent winner just because they don't make the big dance, but that doesn't mean it's always the worst move. Remember, good is the enemy of great.
For an example from college football, look at Mark Richt. All he ever did was win around 10 games a year. Made some waves early on in his tenure at Georgia, but after that proved consistently that he absolutely could not take that team back to the top. He could keep them hovering around the top, but he couldn't break through. At some point, you've got to break the team out of its comfort zone. Replacing a head coach can do that.
