Great place to go to college, went to one of the smaller colleges there. Lots to do (big brewery scene, a lot of music venues and clubs, etc), decent transit system, not a lot sprawl or run down neighborhoods, and generally has a better quality of life than say Chicago for a quarter of the cost.
The thing that seems to keep people away is the cold, but frankly that only helps keep out the riff raff. The Twin Cities has been on a roll the past few years, landing on a bunch of "best city" lists and whatnot, so its probably a good time to move here.
