I remember being 13 and wanting to go from playing soccer to learning how to play hockey and my dad (former CHL player) basically told me that it would take two years to get my skating and stick-handling up to a level where I could actually play with other people and then another year or two after that to even have a chance to work my way up to a level to the highest competitive level, at which point I'd be too old to accomplish anything. He told me to stick to soccer instead, since I was pretty good at it.
That was the first time in my life I'd ever realized that age was going to prevent me from accomplishing something regardless of skill and effort put in. I'll always remember it.
Being a professional athlete may be fun, but it's also extremely difficult. It takes more than talent which most people don't understand. You have to be strong mentally. And no, I don't mean intelligent.

I wanted to be in the NBA too but in High School I played with 2 guys that are now in the NBA (I just played with them I wasn't really good) and people telling them all the time they would be. They had such big egos and it became a pissing contest with literally everything and I thought if most people are like this in the NBA then it would suck and I lost all desire to play in the NBA. So I'm just gonna be a GM in the NBA instead and not take shit from the players

It's not too late to become a professional e-sports athlete desu. Games like CS:GO are 75% teamwork, communication, and gamesense that you can learn in like a year of regular play.
Also there are people in the UFC that didn't even start training until their late 20s.
