They got married a year ago.
They both have careers that take them around the world, so we're often thousands of miles apart.
They barely saw each other this year, Jenson confirmed in a radio interview last month that they didn't even share a home.
They got gassed with sleeping gas on holiday in France this summer, Jessica's engagement ring was stolen.
There are rumours in the Japanese press that she's been cheating on Jenson with some fashion executive.
Jenson's spokesperson announced their breakup last night.
>>64413936
I just can't imagine they split because of the separation distance, they've been living like that for years
>>64413936
>Jenson's spokesperson announced their breakup last night.
Wait really? I thought it was just rags like Daily Mail...
>>64413936
Being a F1 driver has a price. All women I've always seen on F1 paddock (like Rafaela Massa, Erja Hakkinen, Corinna Schumacher) lived for their husbands. They didn't have well-known careers and thus they had a lot of free time to roam around the globe with the F1 circus.
I do believe that they'll get back together someday, but only after Jenson boy retires.
>>64413961
Marriage changes things though.
"My girlfriend/fuck buddy and I barely see one another, but that's okay 'cos there's no long term commitment and it's all casual."
Versus:
"My wife and I barely see each other, only meeting at friends weddings, occasional race weekends and for holidays. This is kind of weird. Why the fuck did we get married again?"
>>64413936
>>64413961
to me it seems like they're just taking a break from the relationship until jenson retires so they can spend more time together
>>64413903
Lord Stevens conquers all, family
>>64413980
>A source close to Jessica said: “After getting married, life continued much as it had before. Nothing changed for either of them.
>“They had their respective careers and met up when they could. But over the course of this year the meetings became less and less frequent. It was always a difficult relationship to maintain.
>“Even when you have as much money as both of them and access to first-class travel, it is hard to live thousands of miles apart and stay together.
>“It takes one person to give things up. But neither of them was prepared to do that.
>“Jessica is not just some pretty wife who was sitting around waiting for him — or able to follow him around the F1 circuit. She is very focused and driven herself.
>“They are two very successful people who enjoyed each other’s company but could not make it work long term. They still care about each other greatly.”
>Jenson, from Frome, Somerset, met Japan-born Jessica in a hotel bar in Tokyo in 2008.
>She was already a successful model and her career has continued to grow, bringing contracts with firms including TAG Heuer, Nike and L’Oreal and an estimated £2million annual income.
She travels as much as JB does. She's very successful in Japan. She makes 2 million a year and is branching out into becoming a media personality/presenter.

>>64424134
here's where it gets confusing
Total (via it's brand Elf) was sponsoring the Enstone team back when they were Benetton, purely because they used Renault engines at the time.
When Renault bought the team, Total upped their sponsorship, and in 2010 changed the sponsorship from Elf to Total. Total's sponsorship money lessened when Renault sold the team in 2009, as Enstone were no longer the works Renault team but a private British team.
Meanwhile, Total sponsored several young drivers from France and neighbouring French-speaking countries. One of these drivers was Romain Grosjean, who they still sponsor today. You'll notice that there are no Total logos on the Lotus E23, as it is Mercedes-powered and thus uses Petronas fuel, but Romain's overalls still have the Total logo, as they are his personal sponsor.
I just looked on Total/Elf's website and it says they sponsor both Grosjean and Renault Sport F1 (which is why Red Bull had Total logos). I suppose Total shan't be sponsoring Grosjean at Haas, as they will probably be sponsoring the Renault team.
>>64424497
they'll still be his personal sponsor.

the person who made that should have altered the tyres to goodyear - pirelli tyres with goodyear on the livery is stupid.
>>64425224
I know. F1 really needs tyre competition though.
>>64425259
i'm just glad grooved tyres will never return in f1. ugly as fuck.
i think i prefer a single supplier. too much unpredictibility is a bit gimmicky. we already have shitty pilelli tyres, drs and fuel saving as it is.
>>64425282
True, but a second tyre supplier who could actually make tyres could encourage Pirelli to improve, then there would be less unpredictability. But this is just blue sky thinking, F1 would never be this sensible.
>>64425309
fia would never allow that. they want these style of tyres pirelli produce, because
>it's good for muh show
they don't want the 'proper' tyres michelin would produce. keep shooting yourself in the foot, bernie.
>>64425318
>>64425282
Agreed on the grooves, but I really dislike the lack of tyre competition. It was just another area of competition.
Slowly but surely, F1 is becoming too restrictive in terms of development - engine development being really really throttled, tyres being standardized, aero rules being written in a way to constrict teams to one 'correct' solution.
Imagine 1998 without Ferrari & Goodyear being able to develop tyres to their liking. It would have been 2014 levels of dominance from McLaren and Hakkinen.
People complain about the sport getting too boring, or about dominance over seasons, yet the teams aren't allowed to improve engines, change chassis design, improve tyres, or test and find quicker aero gains.
>>64425324
Exactly. But I struggle to see how the current tyres are good for "muh show" as they only hinder overtaking. Drivers are unable to push to pass for fear of destroying their tyres, and so wait to pass during one of the ten mandatory pit stops. I would rather have less "passes" (i.e. through pit stop leapfrogs) in favour of seeing drivers pushing their cars to try and pass, even if it does result in less passes on the statistics sheets.

>>64425374
>b-but muh alternative strategy. muh 53 laps on one set of tyres. perez on the podium once a year xd. so exciting, anon!
>>64425374
Also to mention the current formula of tyres shitting marbles everywhere, making driving anywhere but the normal racing line very difficult, cutting overtaking down to basically just DRS or divebombing.
>>64425417
>but then we risk another bridgestone > ferrari, michelin > renault
I'm not sure what the implication here is. Is it that the suppliers will focus on single teams?
There's a relatively simple solution to that. Mandate that suppliers have to provide the same standard and spec of tyres to all their teams. But different suppliers are allowed to have different construction and compounds.
The Bridgestone>Ferrari thing only happened 2002 onwards, by which time everyone except Jordan and Minardi had jumped to Michelin, so it made sense for them to focus on their best chance of success.
>>64425403
He's into NTR.
>>64425495
that's... that's actually perfectly comprehensible
>>64425476
>Mandate that suppliers have to provide the same standard and spec of tyres to all their teams.
Much like how they COULD mandate engine manufacturers to supply multiple teams. Unfortunately, we would need an FIA with actual balls to enforce this, rather than roll over to the big teams.
>>64425193
i want that F1 christmas sweater
>>64425523
>Much like how they COULD mandate engine manufacturers to supply multiple teams
They already do, afaik. I think.they have it in the contract with every supplier that they have to supply at least 2 teams from their second year in the sport. It's why Honda was keen to supply RB, before Ron Dennis used his veto
>>64425578
It would appear so, but the customer teams don't necessarily get an engine to nearly the same spec as the manufacturer team's. Tyre suppliers could easily unload their crappier tyres on the smaller teams.

I'm going to Belgian Grand Prix next year. I've never been to a F1 race or any other motorsport event live and I need some protips.
What grand stand is the best for spectating in Spa for 1) atmosphere, 2) spectating the race, 3) good compromise between the two.
Also if I get Gold level grand stand ticket can I wander around the circuit freely, except for other grand stands obviously? I want to walk around during free practise.

I've never been to Spa so bear with caution. You can usually use your grandstand ticket as a general admission ticket which you should do because Spa must be the most fun track on feet after the Nordschleife. If Gold, I'd go with or 1, 3, 6 or 8. Gp2 is part of the weekend with gp3 and porsche supercup.

grats on the quads sir
people hate the ing renaults because the mild seven renaults were that much better. the sky blue was far and away nicer on the eyes than "let's mix white and orange and hope it doesn't clash".
if the mild seven liveries didn't happen first, you're right, the ing livery would be regarded as fairly decent, but it was a marked step down.
force india's 2015 livery wasn't bad, but only because it aped the west mclarens with a dash of orange and grey replaced with chrome. their 2007/8 liveries were quite nice but were fairly kitsch and looked awful when plastered with the cheap sponsors they inherited from spyker/minardi
benetton's liveries were pretty shite for the most part, and sometimes it felt like their designers were actively trying to make the worst livery possible. their only good livery was the b195, and even when renault bought the team in 2000 it took until 2003 to really get a good mild seven livery
>>64460188
Like, going around town and fucking random people?
>>64460268
But the dark blue of the ING livery looks clean and isn't as much of a let down as the Williams 2009 -> 2011 transition from RBS to Randstad.
>welcome to /f1/ general, a place to discuss bits of paint
>>64460426
the dark blue was there from the mild seven days, just less obvious. the white looks nice, i agree, but the orange drags the design down to hell. without that and the ing bullshit crammed into every available inch it would be a solid paintjob.
>>64460559
i've seen the 2007 preason testing car mentioned a few times in /f1/, it would be a 9/10 livery by itself

I see a lot of your predictions involving Vettel as the WDC next year, is this wishful thinking or do you lot honestly think that he's going to stand a chance? I'd like a break from HWL as much as the next guy, but I think as soon as Vet wins a few races because the Merc drivers can't into sharing corners, they'll just appoint a number one and two driver and we'll be #blessed for the rest of the season.
>>64481385
Some anon apparently took this pic of Kimi earlier this year. Used it as a pape myself for a while
>>64493429
Ferrari seem very confident that they can beat Mercedes, and they definitely have the upper hand with regards to the morale and the overall atmosphere within the team (not to mention that Vettel has a reliable #2 in his good friend Raikkonen). Hamilton is also far easier to rattle and nowhere near as much of a team player, so if Ferrari focus on Vettel from the very beginning and the car isn't a joke, they stand a very good chance.
>>64493429
partly wishful thinking, partly optimistic-but-realistic predictions based on how confident arrivaboner, allison and marchionne have been regarding the car, and these three are people who always understate and overdeliver rather than make bold promises they can't live up to.
i expect ferrari to be very close to mercedes, if not ahead, at the start of the season but slowly be outdeveloped and end up spending so many resources on trying to keep at the front in 2016 that they cripple themselves in 2017.
>>64493429
Anyone who thinks Rosberg won't win the 2016 title is delusional.
It's only a matter of time until Hamilton's childish antics catch up and bite him in the ass.
I think Mercedes still has a little left in the tank with the current engine spec and I believe it'll take another season for Ferrari to catch up.
>>64493577
What do you think the odds of gimi having a decent season next year are? Will that hurt Vettels number one status? Or do you think they kept him mainly because he's not a challenge to Vet, seeing as how his performance dipped with Dan last year?
>>64493712
given rosberg's performance from singapore onwards i truly hope he'll provide a challenge to hamilton, but knowing mercedes they'll enforce team orders so choco senna can walk it in for the remainder of the season
>>64493612
Do you feel that this year kimi gave an accurate representation of where Ferrari really was and Vet was just preforming exceptional work with a only great car, or do you think that the leaps made by vettel are more because of the car and kimi just a shit?
>>64493718
It's all up in the air. He was extremely good in the first few races, with his results mostly being ruined by luck, but then his pace completely died. His maximum pace is the best in the current field, but we've seen it so rarely from him since he broke his back that I have no faith in his ability to maintain it for longer than a couple of weekends at a time.
As for him posing a threat to Vettel, it'll only be if Vettel struggles initially, which I really don't see happening. The car is very likely to be much better suited to Vettel this time around, and the designs of Allison etc are nowhere near as rigid and impossibly stupid as Newey's.
>>64493712
The only way Rosberg has a chance is if the pressure+suspension changes are permanent and Hamilton has no idea how to work around them. Problem is, if that happens, Vettel will pretty much have an easy walk to the title, as Rosberg's maximum pace is far too poor and Vettel has been rattling him endlessly since the "HE SAY I SOAK MY BALLS AT DE POOL" comments in 2013.
>>64493892
kimi is shite.
the ferrari was clearly miles better than the williams all throughout the season, and had a couple of races gone differently kimi would've been outscored by both willies drivers.
that said, vettel outperformed the car pretty much year long and showed that he still has his championship winning pace.
>>64493929
>Rosberg's maximum pace is far too poor
Yeah the guy who consistently matches or beats his three time WDC teammate has poor pace
>>64494012
>Rosberg consistently matches or beats Hamilton
Are we watching the same races?
>>64494012
Doesn't take much when Hamilton is constantly conserving his tyres due to the knowledge that Rosberg is hopeless in his dirty air.
Hamilton is also much easier to beat than Vettel. Just ask Button.
>>64494106
>Hamilton is also much easier to beat than Vettel.
exactly. Hamilton has been thoroughly shit from 2009 onwards, only having the occasional good race that Crofty et al say is proof he is simultaneously jesus and ayrton.
Hamilton should have won 2010 and probably 2012 as well, and should've finished second in 2011 but was too busy trying to take massa out.

>>64499585
That's dumb, 2010 rosberg is different to 2016 rosberg, it wouldn't legitimize or prove anything

>>64499565
Forza 6, without a doubt

Although I was going for a comparison with 2012 Rosberg, who was pretty similar to current Rosberg (as seen in China that year)
>>64499500
Stop being a peasant and get iracing. Arcade games are dumb.
>>64500219
Even with a wheel, it takes too much initial skill to make something like that worthwhile. At least SCE is free after the first investment and has decent physics, but even that's a bore compared to even just F1 2014.
>>64500310
I know many people have polarized opinions on iracing, but I think the multiplayer matchmaking and ranking system is well worth the premium.
>>64500470
Given what options he inquired about on top of him owning an xbone, I seriously doubt that's going to be a relevant factor to him.

>>64504293
Yes, the W06 is the perfect example of what a formula 1 car should look look like.
>>64504714
I still tend to think of late 90s-early 2000s cars as stereotypical F1, with lower, wider rear wings and narrower front wings.
>>64504753
Let me rephrase,
The W06 is the perfect example of what a post 2009 aero change formula 1 car should look look like.
>>64504775
Yeah, I agree with that bit completely. Best-looking car in the last 6 years, easy.
On a somewhat related note, with the proposed 2017 regulations taking F1 back to wide-track cars, will it not make it harder to overtake, since the cars actually take up more space?
I mean, there will be even lesser space for two cars trying to reach an apex together, so would it not lead to non-DRS overtaking chances being even rarer?
>>64504989
It will lead to more mechanical grip which will mean potentially more overtaking and better ability to follow.
The difference in size of the cars will be negligible in terms of driver control through corners.
>>64505029
Except the teams have said the mechanical grip increase is going to be minimal and almost all of the speed will come through more downforce.
2017 is going to be terrible.
>>64505079
We shall see. If you look at the 2017 renderings, the floor looks pretty massive compared to the current model. Ground effect downforce isn't prone to dirty air so maybe this will mean better racing.
>>64504293
The car itself is gr8, the livery could be beautiful if it weren,t because of that Petronas green bullshit.
>>64504293
Beautiful nose, great chassis overall, disgustingly ugly color scheme. The Lotus and the Ferrari looked better.
>>64504399
I still prefer the "somebody sat on my nose" nose of the F14-T.
The Ferrari noses from 2012 to 2015 did a great job of outwardly portraying the team's constant desperate bid to stay in the hunt during the Alonso and early post-Alonso period.
>>64505309
The 2014 Ferrari is one of the most disgusting and repulsive F1 cars (Caterham CT05 aside) in recent memory.
>>64505363
It's easily one of my favorites, on the other hand. I like the F2012 even more in that regard though.
>>64505363
>Alonso almost managed to get the shittest Ferrari in nearly 35 years to a win.
That thing was so unbelievably fucking shit.
>>64505574
2014 not 2012
>>64505455
Fuck, for some reason I thought you were still referring to the F2012. Hungary 2014 should've absolutely been his, even if he was lucky that Hamilton had a dying engine.
