Just tought of it
Imagine when Kimi Retires if Ricciardo ends up in Ferrari too
>>
>>64507529
Ferrari will go for Bottas or Grosjean who will be happy to be the team's #2 driver. Ricciardo would want to be the #1 so Ferrari would only sign him if Vettel left

>>
>>64507542
I'm not sure if bottas would take a #2 driver. He's more than competent.
However Fat John would be a great number 2 in Ferrari,I guess. Plus he seems like a jolly guy which would go great with Vettel, allowing good driver relations
>>
ITT: average drivers that won just because they had good cars.
>>
>>64507561
Bottas would be a bit of a risk, especially considering he beat Ricciardo in junior series, but he knows his place in a team and apart from the start of 2014 and Silverstone this year has been perfectly fine with being on the worse strategy compared to Felipe

Have they announced any regulation changes? I remember at the start of the year there were 3 different nose concepts; the Mercedes/lotus short noses (best looking imo), the Ferrari/str/McLaren long noses, and the rbr/Williams clitnoses.

They all seem to be converging into clitsnoses at the end of the year, which is an indication that it is that best design. I can only hope this isn't the case though because they look like shit compared to the others as far as i am concerned and if there isn't any change they will probably end up all looking like that.
>>
>>64507978
>Have they announced any regulation changes?
no, this is the first year i can remember that the fia are waiting this late to confirm changes to the regulations
>>
>>64507978
and re: the clit noses, they're far and away the best for getting the air underneath the car and to the diffuser. the merc/lotus nose directs air around the nose and to the bargeboards. the ferrari long nose is pretty shit at both of those but has a lower drag penalty and results in the cleanest air to the top of the car so no need for an s duct

williams's nose is believed to be the best as they do some very clever stuff with turning vanes and flow conditioners and small winglets behind it, red bull's is pretty close behind as it's the most aggressive in terms of getting air flowing through it. force india's is a unique approach but worse than those two. toro rosso and mclaren's aren't great, sauber's late-season nose was better than those even.

>went into F1 and was immediately successful, able to challenge his far more experienced team mate right from the start, and proceed take the championship right to the wire.
>won the title in only his second season

he made shit decisions, yes, but he was a good driver.
>>
>>64517801

He's good, but I feel there were drivers even better in his era. He had the dominant FW19, vs the F300 and Schumacher took the title to the final round, and had his exhaust not failed, he would have won by a good margin.
>>
>>64517985
Of course a GOAT like Schumacher would push him, even if JV had a slightly better car, because MS was a better F1 driver than all but a handful of F1 legends, but that doesn't mean JV wasn't good; you don't semi-usurp the 1994 Penske dominance and stacked field of the time to finish 2nd in the indy 500 and win a race at Road America in your rookie year, and then go on to win the title and the 500 after, if you're a bad driver.
>>
When does testing start?
>>
>>64507563
Jacques Villeneuve
Button (my favorite personality in F1, but he wouldn't be world champion without Ross Brawn exploiting that diffuser loophole)
Damon Hill, the Nico Rosberg of the 90s

It can be said for anyone that wasn't truly dominant. The driver needs a good car to win.

Grosjean was the 2nd best driver on the grid for much of 2013, but hasn't really impressed since then other than obliterating Maldonado. Grosjean also wasn't significantly quicker than Kimi during their time as teammates either, only demonstrating a clear pace advantage (i.e. 3 tenths+) over him when Kimi signed his Ferrari contract/wasn't getting paid by Lotus and lost motivation as a result.

Bottas on the other hand has shown that he is far and away faster than Kimi - even with much worse luck this past season, in a definitively slower car, he was outscoring him in the WDC for a decent chunk of the year.

Bottas is also somewhere around 2.5 tenths quicker than Massa, who was faster than Raikkonen in their time as teammates. I have no doubts that Bottas would thoroughly destroy Kimi if they were paired together.

But that doesn't really matter in the end unless Ferrari want Bottas/Grosjean as their #1 driver instead of a support to Vettel.
>>
>>64551233
I wouldn't use Raikkönen to make any sort of a comparison, the guy's form tends to fluctuate over the course of his career. Legit think the Ferrari isn't compatible with Kimi, which makes him look worse than he is. Having said that, I don't feel like Bottas has really shown a strong advantage over Massa, only a slight one, so I'm not sure if it warrants him getting a shot at a top-team as the #1 driver. At the same time, Grosjean destroyed Maldonado, whilst Bottas was better, but not by a similiar margin. It was a good thing he got a great finish in the last race though, or else he would've undeservedly finished behind Maldonado in the WDC standings.

I was going somewhere with this, but I forgot. Adding to it, I feel like Grosjean with his aggressive style is closer to Vettel's style of driving than Bottas and therefore, the Ferrari might have a bigger chance to be suitable for Grosjean than for Bottas.
>>
>>64551287
>Legit think the Ferrari isn't compatible with Kimi, which makes him look worse than he is.
2014 Ferrari I'd agree, but Vettel and Kimi both like the same basic traits in a car; responsive front end, loose-ish rear end, etc. The 2015 car delivered there.

>I don't feel like Bottas has really shown a strong advantage over Massa, only a slight one
Bottas was several tenths quicker for the vast majority of 2014. Bottas had shite luck for a great deal of 2015 which is why Massa was seen as being close in pace, and in the last portion of 2015 Bottas was once again significantly quicker (even at Brazil, a track Bottas doesn't like much). Again, luck was a major factor in Bottas not demolishing Massa in the standings again this year, just like Kvyat beat Ricciardo in the WDC despite Ricky being far and away the quicker driver.

>so I'm not sure if it warrants him getting a shot at a top-team as the #1 driver.
Bottas needs more time to prove himself, I agree. If he has as good a 2016 as he did a 2014 I'm sure he can demonstrate his worth. That said, Bottas beat Ricciardo to the Formula Renault title with less experience.

>whilst Bottas was better, but not by a similiar margin. It was a good thing he got a great finish in the last race though, or else he would've undeservedly finished behind Maldonado in the WDC standings.
You have to remember that the 2013 Williams (9th fastest car) was closer in pace to the Caterham (10th quickest car) than it was to the Toro Rosso (8th quickest car) until the last three races when they ditched the coanda exhaust. It's remarkable that they even scored points as all, and Bottas still managed P3 in Canada quali. 2013 was Bottas's first season in F1 as well, while RoGro was in his third full season in 2014, if that matters any.

>Adding to it, I feel like Grosjean with his aggressive style is closer to Vettel's style
I sort of agree there, Grosjean has a closer driving style but he and Bottas both like the same traits in a car.
>>
>>64551377
And that's not to shit on RoGro, he's obviously a very quick driver, but I feel Bottas would have an edge over him.

A Vettel/Grosjean combo at Ferrari would be brilliant to see, and IMO would be a stronger lineup than any team on the 2015 grid.
>>
>>64507563

Villeneuve, Button, Mansell, Vettel, Hamilton, Jones.
>>
>>64551377
>loose-ish rear end,

I'm not sure Vettel is a fan of this, especially since he thrived on the EBD cars, which generated a boatload of extra downforce at the rear, and struggled when this effect was curtailed (early 2012, most of 2014)

As for Gimi, I think the suspension philosophy followed by Ferrari at the front (pull rod instead of push rod) May be a contributing factor.

As for Bottas vs Massa, it may not be painting the best picture, perhaps because it's an upper-midfield car. After all, Brundle and Schumacher were closely matched in '92, and at that point it was clear that Brundle was a journeyman in F1 terms.

preseason testing is gonna be really interesting this year

renault is a massive unknown, they could either be solid midfield or backmarkers for half a year

mchonda could make zero progress or become podiumrunners

toro rosso could be backmarkers again

force india might have a good car at the start of the season for once

williams and sauber have designed a completely new car with a completely different design philosophy

ferrari are letting subtle hints slip that they'll be tremendously quick and could be the team to beat

The change in licence does make me intrigued

>F1 has to be Grade 1
>GP2 is a support series to F1
>Thus, GP2 has to be Grade 1

So does this mean they'll organise a separate calendar away from the F1 community. (Like F3)

>>64549592
GP3 may remain as a support series to F1 then. As a rival to F3.

>We need more than one F3 series. (As there is 12+ F4 series)
>>
>>64554029
F4 at a national level
F3 at a continental level
F2 at a world level
F1 at a world level

Would work great for F1 weekends.
Just have to revive F3 Asia series
>>
>>64551883
Pretty sure Bernie holds the rights to attack a GP, he would sue.
>>
>>64554073
I agree

They're planning to revive an F3 Asian series and there's also word of an F3 American series. Although I don't know how Pan continental that might be.

Might be easier to do a North American version rather than a costly Pan American.

Look at IndyCar and how costly it was to do the flyaway race in Sao Paulo.

If it were a bit cheaper than F1, I wouldn't mind paying to see an F2 race, that was the main event.
>>
>>64554166
The SCCA just launched the F4 series in partnership with the FIA so I imagine if someone ran an F3 series here, it would be them. I don't know how successful it would be as we already have the comparably cheaper pro mazda and indy lights series.
>>
>>64554166
an American F3 series would be bretty nice, not many routes for American drivers to get into any open wheel that isn't Indycar/Lights

A schedule that has these tracks would be pretty based

COTA
Indy road course
Mexico City
Mid-Ohio
Montreal (maybe even supporting F1)
Mosport
Road Atlanta
Sebring
Sonoma
Watkins Glen

>>64554412
Indy lights would be its only competition, and F3 would be seen as more prestigious since it's an actual ladder to F1 instead of just Indycar as well as being one of the only legitimate ways an American driver can get exposure outside the US without having a super rich daddy

Also, when you have 30min look up an Aussie F4 race. They're 15-18 y/o yet they drive street tracks so close to the wall.

It's so horrible. I would take just about anyone on the current grid winning it over those two (Verstappen being the obvious exception who can fuck off)

>>

I haven't seen any information saying which year's cars will be used. I doubt it'll be 2016 cars since there's no chance teams will rush the cars a month early and not be able to develop the cars for the Barca testing. The test is sanctioned by Pirelli as well rather than FOM so I dunno if the FIA is even allowing recent cars, so they might even have to be 2013-or-older specs

>>64608085
My first racing game. Going back to it felt a little unfun even with the wheel though.
>>
Speaking of which, has anyone else who's recently(-ish) bought a wheel struggled with open-wheelers in games like SCE? Compared to CM F1 games, it feels like it's much harder to micromanage everything, let alone drive competently, and the information overload makes it so that I only get frustrated whenever I make a mistake and slide off instead of learning anything from it.

I know the former's 100% intended, but I didn't expect it to be this bad and the resulting inability to string laps together makes it seem pointless.
>>
>>64608408
Does SCE have lower end single seater like formula ford or formula renault

Some games have weird physics with single seaters than can only be figured out with slower cars at first
>>
>>64608475
Yes, Formula Vee and F3 are considerably easier than the old and current F1 cars, but even in the F3 cars I'm currently struggling in the corners. I haven't tried the former yet though.

Why do people think Haas will be shit?

They had a lot of help from Ferrari, in fact so much so that the amount of help they got will be banned in the future.

I don't get why people are saying >Dallara either, just because Dallara designed the HRT, but cut aero development super early because HRT refused to pay them. I mean look at the incredible job they did for Super Formula, on a budget of 5mil per year they're just 2 or 3 seconds off the pace of the Mercedes
>>
>>64609272

because they're americans and americans are mostly good at their own meme sports or sports that heavily involve niggers
>>
>>64609272
They need to develop well past the start of the season to stand a chance, and that's just not overly likely because of their inexperience and because they don't have the same level of funding as teams like Red Bull or Ferrari.

I definitely don't see them being backmarkers next year simply because Ferrari's help is bound to give them a good basis to work with (not to mention that they already had Manor's real 2015 car to look at all year), but they'll be falling back as the season progresses.

no, that's just "gene haas on what his favourite colour is"

haas has built their brand around red, white and black, not only in nascar, not only for haas cnc, but for their f1 team as well. they would not have done so if they planned on saying "fuck it, let's go yellow yolo".

the publication that reported haas would have a yellow livery is gazzetta, an infamously untruthful italian tabloid. james allen signal boosted their story because he's a hack who doesn't do his research.

their livery will involve the colours red, black and white. screencap this.

>Except for all the dying and stuff

True on both 70's being awesome and dying being shitty part of that era.

First Finn in F1, Leo Kinnunen, was pretty based. He was last F1 driver that used open helmet.

Just noticed... F1 rejects has been taken over by squatters. Damn.

Consider this, "reality" as we know it is merely a delusion of your mind. Dreams exist in the same place in your mind. Who is to say what is truly real and what isn't? What I'm saying is that if anime is real in your mind, in your heart, then she exists.
