Another fair point you can levy against Cruz is that he's been hit clean a few times. Specifically I remember Faber getting him twice in their rematch, and I'm quite certain Benavidez had a moment in their rematch as well. Both flat footed, throwing full power strikes; nowhere near TJ level. A Cruz with very little ring time coming in against a striker who I'd argue is one of the more accurate of the division? We might see Cruz's chin tested early and often. That's why I think we'll be seeing a lot of wrestling and grappling in this fight, Cruz does a lot of adjusting on the fly and he's not afraid to grind out a round or three.

Cerrone vs. Magrega also works as a "filler" while the situation crystallizes, but Cerrone is a fan favorite as well, he could make a good payday for someone else in fact.

The athletes, aside from Brock and GSP, get paid very very little - AND this certainly includes Conor McGregor.
Yes, COnor likes to pretend he makes "million dollar" bets. He doesn't.
He likes to say things like he was looking for a "9-figure" contract. That is beyond absurd, as is a 7-figure contract in the UFC.
And those contracts are set up to sound much better than they'll ever be - for example, a $10million dollar contact would be set up so that a athlete would receive the full $10mil over a period of years AND it would be necessary to not only go undefeated, but to win a superfight that will never happen.
Because the superfight (GSP versus Anderson was always the most talked about) will never happen, the contract reverts to $3.5million tops. And that's if the athlete remains undefeated and particpated in a minimum title defenses over a certain period of time - if that stipulation ins't met, the $ amount drops again. Given medical suspensions, it's very likely that the required amount of title defenses cannot be met, dropping the amount further.
And so on and so on.
All along, there will be pics of the athlete enjoying the high life. This is done to perpetuate the myth of financial success.
This occurs in the music business, too -- perhaps you've seen Chris Brown's pic of all his Lamborghinis lined up. Guess what? All but one was rented. For the pic. And he IS successful. It's just that it's important for entertainers to appear more successfu than they are. If you're not Bieber or Swift, you're not super rich.
