Recently, I have been watching a lot of NBA on BT Sport and I am really enjoying it. I have been watching some college games too. I understand the rules and stuff but I could probably know more about the teams.
I was wondering if any of you basketball fanatics on here could give me the lowdown on who are considered the good teams/bad teams, the bad players/good players.
Also, if anyone could explain to me the post season?
At the moment, I am liking teams such as Pheonix and New Orleans but I am not liking teams such as Philadelphia they seem bad.

post season consist of the top 8 teams from the west and the top 8 teams from the east based upon W-L record. Teams are seaded 1-8 with the match ups being 1vs8, 2vs7, 3vs6, and 4vs5. The series is best of 7, first team to win 4 games advances. The finals are between the last remaining east and western team.
If you already enjoy the sport itself then I honestly think you'll have more fun figuring out who's bad or good on your own.

I'm not a Lakers fan but it's hard to argue against success in the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and 2000's.

postseason is called le playoffs and has the top 8 teams of each conference competing.
theres the east playoffs and west playoffs and in the 1st round 1st seed plays 8th seed 2nd plays 7th and so on.
then theres the second round then the conference finals .. and the winner of each conference plays in the finals!
if you win the finals you get shiny rings on the home opener of the next season

Up-and-coming stars: Towns (Timberwolves)/Wiggins (Timberwolves)/Porzingis (Knicks)
One or two players can have such a big impact, meaning teams can suddenly go from bad to good very quickly as players get injured, decline, struggle or get better, or teams pick up someone in the draft or via free agency.
If you avoid watching two really bad teams play each other then generally the NBA is pretty entertaining, because even bad teams can have good games against good teams.

Philly fan here. Yes we are bad. It is intentional though. In the NBA, the worst you are, the better chance you have at getting the number one overall pick in the draft. The draft is where all the good players are taken. In order to get the best players coming out of college, you will likely need a top 3 pick. So the Sixers manager makes this team quite bad on purpose. This is all in hopes that you draft a star player, who can change a franchise. The NBA is a star driven league.

Spurs in the most underrated team ever existed in the NBA. Spurs are currently 23-5 which is second only to the incredible GSW run. These dudes are basically playin with the same core dudes for over a decade now, and they're still at the top every year.
