I moved to Virginia a couple months ago. I don't think people are sports fans and when they are they support random teams like the Cowboys or the Giants.

They also pretend to like College Basketball but nobody watches it

Since Virginia is for Virgins, they follow hockey

Northern Virginia obviously roots for DC teams, and the rest of the state doesn't matter. Other than local colleges/minor leagues it's pretty much all DC or contrarians rooting for their rivals
