Are sporty kids choosing football less than other codes as well? Here, Football has the highest youth participation, but most are just there because their parents said "soccer or karate?" Most kids that are into sport are playing something else.
The thing about the German coaches would be infuriating. The FA here is doing lots of work to improve the knowledge of grassroots coaches. So even if we aren't getting the top physical athletes, we can identify and nurture the smart and technically gifted ones.
