The rotation is a bit better since they won't have to rely on AAA backups. The Fernando Rodney Experience finally came to an end. Furbush will be back. Cano will most likely be better. He played most of 2015 with abdominal pain and some infection or whatever. His 2nd half numbers were great.
There is no black hole at catcher anymore. M's catchers were historically and unprecedentedly horrible this year. A slash line of .159/.205/.259. Just by fixing that position they'll be a lot better. With the Cubs loading up for war, the division seems unlikely. A wild card is still realistic if the Dbacks take games away from whoever is second in the NL West between the Giants and Dodgers though. Mets and Cubs are both NL teams; they could meet earlier in the playoffs but not in the World Series (which is NL vs. AL).
And yes, games and series between regional rivals like Yankees-Mets do get more attention and higher attendance. Regional pride is one of those universal things across all sports I guess.

Speaking of Ken Burns' Baseball, the first inning is god tier but large segments of the first four innings just bum you out constantly. I stopped watching midway through the Babe Ruth one and didn't pick it up again for multiple reasons, mostly that I was watching it with family and got tired of dragging them along.
I'm really not too interested in the one about the negro leagues or the one about New York dominating baseball. The one about the sixties looks a little thin and then I can't even remember what the rest are about. I can imagine the top of the 10th inning is really good, 2001, the red sox, etc, the bottom is looks decent as well. But do innings 5-9 improve or what?
That aside, the first inning and the background music of the series alone make it must own. Put it on in the background on a hot lazy Sunday afternoon for maximum cozy, especially if you mix with radio or TV of live baseball.
