The thing is, Frankie isn't one of those "proud" fighters. He wouldn't stand with Conor to "test himself" or anything like that. One training camp is not going to make a difference here. Edgar has been out-wrestling and out-grappling mat fighting pros in MMA for years. McGregor came up in Europe, a circuit with no good wrestlers or grapplers outside of Russian sambists, who he's fought none of. His guard looked horrible against Mendes, and he overextends on some punches so badly that a fighter can have their hands connected behind his hips before he's even fishing for an underhook. Chad passed to side control after he got McGregor down in but a few seconds. McGregor has no real defensive capabilities off of his back other than exploding when someone exposes themselves while going for a submission. Edgar will not sacrifice his position for a submission. He never does. He'll lean on McGregor and chip away at him until he quits, then, he'll choke him out.

I just can't take criticism of Conor's takedown defence seriously when the only examples of his ever being taken down
were against mendes when he had no live rounds under his belt, was training for a muy thai guy and was already finished the heavy sessions and cutting weight
when he got the fight. plus all the media and jacked knee.
If anything i think frankie is at a disadvantage, he's gonna game plan around the fact

Frankie's gameplan is always the same. The fact that McGregor melt Aldo with one strike will only ensure that he's more careful on the feet than ever. It made McGregor's chances worse, if anything. Now everyone's going to be gunning to get him on the ground.

You're assuming that left will have the same power on it if McGregor ever gets a chance to throw it. Frankie grinds the energy and will to fight out of his opponents. Everything about your skills gets worse when you're tired. How will McGregor look half way through the 4th after spending nearly 20 minutes on his back eating short punches and elbows?

it makes a huge difference if you haven't done them in your camp, you need it to become a reflex action just through repeating it over and over. He didn;t have a chance to train for the takedowns mendes is privy to. I wouldn't be surprised if conor stuffs the first 2 frankie attempts, and by then he will have enough time to put him out

Which fights are you talking about? The one with Maynard, who could stop his takedowns, or Aldo, who could stop his takedowns, or Henderson, who could stop his takedowns?

Best striker, by far worst wrestler and grappler. This isn't K-1. When a fighter can stop Edgar's takedowns, they make him look bad, when they can't, Edgar destroys them.

I would be shocked if McGregor stuffed any of his takedowns, in all honesty. Conor is seriously one of if not the WORST wrestler and LEAST SKILLED grappler Frankie will have fought in almost his entire career, certainly in his entire UFC career. That's really shocking when you think about it, but it's inarguable, and something people really need to consider before writing Frankie off. Not only has Edgar been beating bigger guys than Conor, everyone he's beaten has had better wrestling and/or better grappling than Conor, usually by a dramatic margin.
