I discussed it before but when Aldo threw the cross to leaping hook, he underestimated Conor.
Conor came across and parried Aldo's right hand so when he tried to bring it back up to protect his face, it was further than he intended it to be.
It kept Aldo defenseless for the counter as he lept in for the hook and set up the KO. Had Conor not parried that shot, he would have hit Aldo's hand and the fight would've gone on. It was fucking perfect.

I don't know exactly what happened - it used to be pretty clear that Dana was a huge fan of Edgar. The insta-rematch against Bendo, followed by the immediate title shot at featherweight were pretty generous.
He got robbed in Bendo 2, of course, but there really wasn't a good reason to have an immediate rematch in that spot. I wasn't in favor of him taking it, because I was worried about him taking another close loss and entering no man's land. Back then, I thought dropping to featherweight would be a mistake for him, because he'd lose his speed advantage without gaining a size advantage.
Clearly, even as a fan I underestimated him.
