>my face when "people" actually think the team with the best defense and a top 10 offense in the NFL will miss the playoffs this season

>Alex Smith (objectively and statistically a top 15 QB, it isn't even debatable)
>Jamaal Charles (best RB in the game who will be 100% healthy, unlike the entirety of last year, he will put up 1,000+YDs/10+TDs/5.0+YPC,)
>Travis Kelce (a top 3 TE already and going into this season will be fully recovered from knee surgery 2 offseasons ago, 1000+YDs/7+TDs)
>James O'Shaughnessy (literally a Travis Kelce-clone)
>Jeremy Maclin (top 15 WR, 900+YDs/5+TDs)
>Chris Conley (a white guy trapped in a black's body, one of the smartest players in football, elite measurables, incredible upside)
>DAT (one of the fastest and most explosive players in football)
>Anthony Sherman (best FB in NFL)

>Best pass rush in the NFL

There is nothing notable in Utah that makes for a good mascot. Dragons would at least give them an original motif to work with.
>>
I am a Falcons fag, and this might sound biased but, how the fuck is Cam Newton being considered for the MVP? He has 28 TD's 10INT and 3062 yards. Tbh that's good, but not MVP caliber. Is it because the Panthers are 13-0? That doesn't make sense, this is a individual player award not a team award. Plus that meant that Matt Ryan should've won the MVP in 2012 when we went 13-3 and he had way better stats than Cam has now.

Cam's rushing stats need to be taken into account as well.

I don't think he's truly an MVP candidate either, but he's really been outstanding this season. So much so that I'm willing to say that right now, Cam's definitely a better QB than Matt Ryan.

It's apples and oranges though. Cam is his own thing, he's not a great QB in the traditional sense, but he's one of the best players in the NFL.

Dawkins: legendary physicality and durability

>>im bored, time to post Dawkins
you caught me
i agree with your rationale though
polamalu was very, very good, but he benefitted the most from his defense imo, and wasn't as hard of a hitter as dawkins (12 FF to dawkins' 36), couldn't do as much as lott (fewer FF, INT, and tackles), and was far from as good at ballhawking as reed (32 INT to reed's 64)
it's worth noting that they all have more INTs, reed has only two fewer FF, and that dawkins and lott dwarf polamalu in tackles
lott's first in my book, with dawkins and reed at 2a and 2b
>>
>>64235907
As for guys who are older than that, I'd say Jack Christiansen, Ken Houston, Yale Lary, Donnie Shell, Rosey Taylor, Emlen Tunnell, Larry Wilson, and Willie Wood would be the top contenders.

Actually, if you go by INTs/game (including playoffs) you get:

1. Reed, .386 (73/189)
2. Lott, .340 (72/212)
3. Polamalu, .202 (35/173)
4. Dawkins, .169 (41/242)

And Polamalu was a backup/ST player his rookie year, which skews his number down a bit.

I look at the Jaguars' offense and I don't see any way that they don't win at least one Super Bowl together if they stay together.

Allen Robinson has 1,000 yards and leads the league in receiving TDs and there's still a legitimate debate on who's better between him and Hurns.

What a fun fucking team to watch. I'm so happy for Jags fans

They lose every tiebreaker with the Toxins and Clots iirc, so they can't end up in a tie. They need to hope they can go 8-8 with the other two finishing 7-9.

>>
>>64238657
Is that supposed to make me feel bad? The team I root for is hot garbage and has been hot garbage aside from an outlier season ever since the early 2000's. Am I supposed to be insulted that Patriots fans are laughing at my team? Am I supposed to feel shame that the team I follow is a massive pile of horseshit and that Patriots fans feel better about themselves because they laugh at my favorite team?

Am I supposed to give a shit what they think?

Because they're not telling me anything I haven't already known since McNair left, since Keith Bulluck retired, since Jim Schwartz left to be the DC in greener pastures, since Mawae left the team, since Bironas was $$$$, since Eddie George was a beast, since Derrick Mason was an absolute monster, since the days where the team I follow was good and made me proud.

The Titans suck and are going to get obliterated next Sunday and there isn't a god damn fan in the world who will even try to talk them up. So the Patriots are going to win next Sunday. And Patsfans are going to stroll in here thinking they're hot shit. And they'll try to say Titansfans were talking hot shit the entire week. And everyone is going to treat them like the special needs cousin at the dinner table and ignore them.

And it's going to be beautiful and there isn't a god damn thing you or anyone can do to prevent this from happening.

You've already lost.
>>
>>64238657
But he's right. The Titans suck ass. They're the worst of the AFC South, so they're arguably the worst team in the entire AFC. If he was denying that he'd be the most delusional motherfucker on this board.

Let's see you try that when they win the owl again. Don't try to act like Pats fans and Pats shitposters haven't owned /sp/ since the last Super Bowl ended. You didn't ignore us then because you can't. We are everywhere. We ARE /sp/.
>>
>>64238736
Only your suffering created /sp/
>>
>>64238736
I actually have no idea what the rest of /sp/ was like after the Super Bowl. So I can only assume that you posted a few threads ad-nauseum jerking off how you won because of shitty playcalling or because of the interception; I don't really give a shit because it's not important. I was too busy focusing on hockey since the Titans were eliminated from the playoffs in October that year anyways.

I ignore you every year and I will continue to do so because I don't give a shit.

And the minute any of you dipshits try to stroke your inflated egos over beating up on the Titans, everyone is going to have a sensible chuckle at your expense (because you're fucking idiots who think beating the worst team in football is something to gloat about), and then ignore you.

And when you can't handle being ignored, you'll falseflag shitpost as "Titansfans" and try to start something as if there are more than 5 Titansfans on /sp/.

Face it, the only way you walk away from next weekend not looking like a bunch of assholes is if you learn a shred of decency and social conduct and apply these lessons when you do win next week.

They've been our bitch as of late. I'll worry about it when we get there, but if Sam Bradford is on at least a 7-5 pace, I wouldn't be surprised if this is #8

>Reminder, the Eagles are 6-2 in their last 8 games without Mark Sanchez. Overall, Chip Kelly is 22-10 without Mark Sanchez, 1-1 in games he played half of, and 4-6. Sanchez is 2-6 if you don't count the 9 sack game against the 3-6-1 Panthers and the trouncing of the 2-9 Titans, so it's no surprised they got BTFO in the 2 games he started this season, the defense had no faith in him and took entire games off.

Growing up In CT I found the opposite. There was me, one other pats family, and the rest were either giants or jets. We made a killing betting 10 bucks plus 3 dollars per point of victory against all 10 of our jets buddies in the buttfumble game where we won 49 10 or some shit

Goddamm, you're fucking stupid. The Pats lost both those games, nobody's denying it or acting like they won. If you think for even half a second anything I said is invalid, you're fucking stupid. This team is still on cruise-control to the Owl and they'll probably win it again, especially if they face Carolina.

But the fact people are now referencing him as a weapon just baffles me because just a few weeks ago, he was the 3rd-4th target depending on the game plan with hardly any targets. Granted, he's very clutch, that's all it ended up being was clutch catches in key moments.

Then Lewis went down, followed by Edelman and suddenly Amendola's a legit weapon, etc.

I've always liked him, I just think it's hilarious how delusional non-Pats fans are about him as if he's some Pro-Bowl WR.

Tom Brady has taken a team of literlly whos to a conference championship game. He's the main weapon, and he utilized himself 60 times, plus short runs. Amendola is most definitely a weapon, Chandler is a solid back up for Gronk, still had Blount and meme-screen game RBs.

I dunno about you, but I just use "weapon" and "receiver" interchangeably, the former more for better/elite receivers. I don't think that's unreasonable.

With that said, Amendola may be manlet status and nothing special on any other team, but Bill and Tom can transform receivers into dangerously good receivers within a week or two, and I think Amendola is playing at a very high level right now and can keep it up, especially if Keshon Johnson can take some pressure off of him.

Yeah, he took a team of literally who's to the AFCCG in 2006. 9 fucking years ago dude. The running game is non-existent. Bolden and White are inconsistent as fuck, Amendola's good but made of glass and can't shoulder the full load by himself. Chandler has far from lived up to expectations, nobody expected him to be like Gronk but the expectations were somewhat high given how he'd performed against the Pats with the Bills. And yeah, LaFell was loved last year but this year he's not the same guy, he missed half the season with an injury and since returning, hasn't had a single game where he looked good. He's looked slow, out of rhythm, and he's dropping everything. Dropped passes are a major story for the Pats backups, Brady can only do so much, they still gotta hold onto the damn ball and these backups are just dropping everything.

That's typically how it's done, you tend to gravitate more towards calling a guy a "weapon" if he's an impact player/game-changer type on a consistent basis where as a "receiver" is just a role player/piece player who contributes but isn't expected to shoulder much of the load.

To me, Amendola was never meant to be that guy. Every time he was, he got hurt. First game as a Patriot after Welker was gone, Amendola was featured prominently against the Bills and got hurt for most of the season. Again when he's the focal point of the offense, oddly enough against the Bills, he gets hurt again, just not as bad this time around.

I just feel like he's more of a mix, like an impact role player. He's a guy that can get you clutch catches and will tow the line when called upon but if relied on too much, will ultimately fall apart physically because he can't handle the volume.

He's playing at the highest level he's ever played at, I just need to see it on a more consistent basis and he needs to prove he can stay on the field before I'm ready to put him into that top-tier.

To be fair, I do think he's already better than Welker but I think Edelman's better than both. Welker was nothing but a choker, Edelman and Amendola can actually be relied on in crunch time.

Yeah, 2013 was another waste of time and space, half the fucking team was dead and once Talib got taken out of the game, it was a wrap. And for what? Denver just went on to get executed on national tv. Guaranteed the Pats would've at least hung around for a bit.

Fuck that, Welker's a bum. All the shit he did makes no difference in my eyes because at the end of the day, when it came down to the big time under the bright lights, he couldn't get it done.

Guy should've been the Butterfingers spokesman, he'd have been perfect. Hell, the Giants should've given him a ring for giving them that second Owl win.

I dunno man, I know it's unfair to be that way about him, but he'll forever be remembered as a choker in contrast to Edelman and Amendola who stepped up in the same situations he fell short in.

I'm sorry, but did the Chargers already lose? Oh, that's right. The game isn't even over yet. In fact, it's only halftime. Does not having the lead at halftime count as a loss? Is that what you're saying? Because if you're saying that I can assure you that you're wrong. Why would you make this topic when the game is still on? The Chargers are still playing right now and they have been the best team in the AFC West for how many years now? They're playing one of the worst teams in the NFL who just happen to have a lead because they're feeding off the energy of playing in a Monday Night Game. But you know what? They still fucking suck. The Chargers are one of the best fucking teams in the NFL, they went 13-3 last year and would of won the Super Bowl if the kicker didn't choke. Maybe you should shut the fuck up before you make retarded topics like this. You know why? Because you're going to be embarrassed when the Chargers wins and someone bumps this topic. Oh look at that, the Chiefs just stepped out of bounds short of the 1st down when they needed to get one, just like the Jets did. Are you a fucking drunk? Are you retarded? Are you autistic? You are a fucking idiot and you should never make a topic on this board again and I'm fucking serious. I almost have a feeling you're the only guy making all these anti-Chargers topics because you're a faggot hater who doesn't like the team because they're good. Fuck you, be good at something in YOUR life and then maybe try to troll these fucking teams on the board, like I give a fuck. It's so easy to spot out your threads now, you're a retard. Always doing stupid shit like this. Why don't you try to be a good poster? Just for once? For once in your fucking life try not to make a topic like this. That's just you, you're always right at getting it wrong. Fuck you. You are nothing.

AFCW COPYPASTA ACTIVATE

The Oakland Raiders are easily one of the best all-time teams, they've had 3 decades of success and 2 more of great seasons. This team just needs their coach to turn things around, Jack Del Rio will take us to our promised land : a winning season, Carr will lead the AFC WEST in pass yards and TDs, Amari Cooper will lead all rookies in touchdowns and receptions, Khalil Mack will lead us in Sacks and hurries and Charles Woodson will snag at least 5 more picks! Can a team be any greater? No, there's no team better than the Oakland Raiders, just telling it like it is /sp/.

Most sports have soft height "boundaries" in recruiting players, and taller is usually considered better in QBs (to a point). Breezy and Lelson are the exceptions, not the rules, and I doubt that will change anything.
But there's also reasons guys like Giraffe Man don't often succeed either.

He's not pro bowl caliber, anyone wind a brain knows that, but he is definitely good enough to be overlooked by defenses who are trying to deal with gronk and edelman, belichick knows this, and knows he can catch which im sure he loves since belichick loves the lesser utilized parts of his game to be perfect, i.e. the kicker, punter, and also a secondary reciever, kind of similar to a reche Caldwell type player back when the pats were rebuilding in 05-06

Well that's basically my main point, people act like he's some world beater but the only reason he looks so good is because he's overlooked majority of the times by teams more concerned about covering Gronk and Edelman. If he becomes the focal point, he still produces but it takes much more toll on him and his overall production halts, especially with no other support on the offense.

Hopefully the major hurdles are out of the way and the team can focus on getting healthy and just securing home field for the playoffs. I feel as though once the playoffs start this team will wake up and respond accordingly. I really do feel another Owl is coming to the Pats.

Hell no, you need to rewatch the 2007 season. Its 3rd and 4-6 yards. Folks what's the call? Low pass over the middle to Welker. The linebackers knew it, the defensive ends knew it, everyone knew it, and no one could stop it. Thats what made me view that team as the greatest ever. "Its moss deep in triple coverage, look at that speed, no one can keep up, thrown to in perfect stride by Brady" you knew what it was, but no one could stop it. Absolutely beautiful

Oh I remember and I take nothing away from it. I mean hell, there are people out there who still say the 07 Pats are the greatest team ever even without the Owl victory. There's no debate they're the greatest to ever not win it, that's for sure.

I take nothing away from Welker in that regard but there's guys who can do it all the time and guys who can only do it with the right circumstances and I just feel like Welker wasn't reliable in the clutch. '07 was a combination of things, including the defense not being able to get a sack and Harrison not being able to knock the ball from Tyree's hands so I'll pass on that one. '11 was literally Welker. You can point to that one play where he drops the pass as the moment they lost that game. You just knew the defense was going to cave in and you knew no matter how much magic Brady had, there wouldn't be enough in the tank to get another score before the game ended.

Now go watch Edelman and Amendola in the same scenarios, absolute balls to the wall clutch plays made. Hell, Amendola routinely catches passes just like the one that Welker dropped. I know I'm being unfair but whenever I think of Welker, that's all I'll ever think of is him costing a title. Hell, then I think of the butterfly effect like maybe if they'd won that title, Hernandez wouldn't have gone full retard and gotten busted for murder, etc.

Yeah, the last part's a bit far fetched but we'll never know. Wes should've caught the damn ball.

Next season will the big one for Oakland, the defense is quick to the ball and WILL hurt your QB, the DBs have gotten better, David Amerson will be a young, lock down corner, T.J. Carrie will be snatching passes out of the air, Charles Woodson will absolutely fuck your shit up, with a pick, strip, sack or even a hard hit, Nate Allen will be an underrated playmaker and lock up the deep passes with the help of Woodson, of course. Khalil Mack will be the next hybrid of LT and Howie Long, he will not be blocked, Edwards Jr. has a great skillset for a young player, with the tutelage of Justin Tuck, Edwards will be the next Greg Townsend, Aldon Smith will join a fierce and quick LB corp, joining the former superb owl MVP Malcolm Smith, quick-paced stud Ben Heeney, and hard hitting Neiron Ball. Dan Williams is the anchor of front 7 and helps neutralize anything over the middle, you can't run on this team's line for more than a yard. The 2016 offense will be a high octane force to be reckoned with, young upstart Derek Carr has found his groove and is starting to be recognized with his play against tough defenses and his ability to read said defenses, Latavius Murray is a nice blend of power and speed, Taiwan Jones is a dangerously fast and elusive back, a formidable 1-2 punch for the rush, then you the big, multi-faceted FB Marcel Reece and speedster Jamize Olwale, Reece is a true vertical threat, and Olwale, a FB, can flat out fly down field. Amari Cooper has certainly shown what he can do, he's fast, sturdy and can burn anyone who blinks when they cover him, Michael Crabtree brings his blend of talent and experience to Raiders' receiving core, Grabtree can go out and bring anything in for the 7, Rod Streater is another young, high potential receiver, he encompasses the vertical game perfectly, you'd best be thankful JDR hasn't used him yet, and with offense lighting up the boards, we come to the o-line, anchored by Hudson, this offensive line will give any d-line fits!
