What would happen if baseball made the out/walk requirement to 2 strikes and 3 balls rather than 3 strikes and 4 balls?
Essentially every count would start at 1-1. This would shorten games, what's the downside?
Shorter games

it would still be boring as shit
Here is what it would do to stats
>>64139155
Lower beer sales for stadiums.
More data

>>64139234
Really interesting senpai
>>64139750
Sarcastic?
Baseball rule change:
Purge it.
What would happen?
>>64140022
More of your citizens will get beheaded because baseball isn't there to distract cartels?
>>64139234
>3-0
>hit average .119
>being this unable to hit a fucking pumpkin
jesus christ who's this shitter
into le trash
>>64140058
It's league numbers.
But that is for swinging on 3-0 I think. Which I agree, is low.
But the total BA for 3-0 counts is .327, which makes sense.
>>64139155
I think pitchers would be very conservative... 3 balls to a walk is very low... particularly late in the game where they are already too conservative...
>>64140186
The stats show that pitchers would actually have an advantage though. >>64139202
>>64139234
Also, an Aussie that likes baseball? How and why?
>>64140239
An overall advantage maybe... i'd be interested to see the difference in the first and second half of the game... be aware a pitchers behavior would change knowing he only has one ball left, thus more hits after the third ball...
Baseball stat's and cricket stat's are very similar which is what got me started... Otherwise i was just bored during the day and baseball coverage was fun to keep track of during cricket's off season...
>>64140374
Gotcha. Yeah I don't know how it would really play out. Batters would be far more aggressive too. They would swing on 1st pitches a lot more.
What team do you follow? Have you been to a game here?
>>64140419
No i haven't been to US during the season yet...
I follwed the Giants and Dodgers 2 years ago because their scores were so dam high... (I have found Washington to have really low scores)
Last year my (now exgf) was from canada so i followed Toronto blue jays... i must say i thought their playoffs were pretty bad...
but during the season, i thought Dickey was a great pitcher...
>>64140506
Yeah I guess west coast teams make sense for you. I'm actually a Nats fan - they were brutal to watch this year. They really need to add another bat like Heyward or Justin Upon to provide more firepower on offense outside of Harper.
Hopefully you can get to the US during the season sometime. Games are comfy and fun. I love visiting ballparks and comparing them. Some are just gorgeous.
It would he called a beer league and we would be using softballs and throwing underhand you punk bitch.
>>64139155
Some owners, notably Charlie Finley of the A's wanted to do this actually. He is known today as spearheading the DH in the AL too.
>>64140579
Yeah i'd love to attend a game where the people just GET INTO IT... the australian league is alittle... well... the people don't care enough! When i go to the US again i'd see basketball, baseball games and dress up and go nuts...
If one be the nats under 8 every game... i can only assume they would be very far up by the end of the season...
On a side note... was the Cub's last season their best for many years or something?
>>64140624
Yeah, the Cubs are actually good now. They haven't been good in like 15 years. The last time they were good was the Bartman fiasco (still hilarious to this day).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vq8G81oOHhY
You should watch the 30 for 30 on Bartman if you get the chance.
>>64140656
>good
>swept in the offs
pick fucking one
>>64140680
>Picks the conjunction of the two
:D
>>64140656
Yeah watching that... Are the minor leagues popular there? I know college basketball and football is very popular i just wondered if baseball is simular...
>>64140656
lol... that would drive any player crazy!
>>64139155
>Not being able to take a pitch
>>64139155
>This would shorten games, what's the downside?
You just said it. It would shorten games.
>>64140616
Connie Mack had mentioned it, but was not the first.
Charlie Finley embraced the fuck out of it and the AL teams voted on whether or not to use it.
It was almost implemented in the NL, lel
>>64140737
Somewhat popular. It's not a crazy fan following, but more "fans of the game" and baseball nerds. I love minor league personally. The games are fun. Cheap. But no, it's not like college sports in terms of crazy fans.
It's also nice because lots of small cities get baseball games to go to.
>>64140058
That's the total percentage of balls that end up hits. And only about 30% of 3-0 balls are swung at, so the avg is a bit north of .300
>>64141110
This.
>thinking a Canadian shitposter can understand statistics
>>64139202
Looks barely below 0-0 for BAs and that can mostly be attributed to them being shook af after a strike familia
>>64141178
Yeah it's essentially the same.
I can't think of any way boreball could be made more interesting.
>>64141317
We could nuke it. Worked for your people.
I propose a simple rule change that can make baseball more interesting:
the only way to score a run is for the batter to hit a triple and then steal home. Every other outcome is an out. There are no walks because they don't matter. The batter has 3 strikes to hit the ball fair and leg out a triple, and it doesn't matter how many balls the pitcher throws. They don't count.
Innings are the same, each team has 3 outs and each batter has 3 strikes to hit a triple. Anything else is an out.
A better rule is to eliminate over the fence home runs. Only inside the park HRs count. A ball hit over the fence is a foul ball.
>>64141421
Dumbest thing I've ever heard.
>>64139155
>Essentially every count would start at 1-1.
fuck that. But I'd like to see a pitch clock.
