The most intelligent and studied quarterback, third to only Peyton Manning and Tom Brady. One does not become great because of sheer genius, but all little details matters and that is very hard to find in a quarterback. I have watched Alex Smith throw very accurate and get more depth in his passing game. That year, 2012, he was almost perfect. But greed and egotistical will made Harbaugh switch to Colin Kaepernick IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SEASON! Great timing by the way. The loyal soldier was benched and credit was robbed of him during the entire season. All the media posted pathetic photos of Alex Smith and made him a laughingstock!
The soldier has always been more noble than how he showed the world. I have always believed he will be a gladiator who will overthrow the 49ers empire to embarrassment.
There are different kinds of ethics - business ethics, moral ethics, standard ethics- all of those were not respected by Roman/Harbaugh. That switch to Kaepernick will never be forgotten.
