The reason Tiger was so big is:
1) He was black.
2) He was just as easy to hate as he was to love.
There's no edge to Jordan or Rory or Jason or Rickie or Bubba or Dustin. There's no attitude with those guys like there was with Tiger. It's impossible to hate any of them. Jordan could win the calendar grand slam by ten strokes in each tournament and he wouldn't have even half the impact that Tiger had on ratings and the golf industry.
That said, everyone who is saying golf is dying is also delusional. As long as there are rich white men, corporations looking for tax breaks, and companies shitting out $500 drivers every eight months, golf isn't going anywhere.
