It's happened a few times in my game that I've negotiated a contract with a player which was acceptable, but then after a few days he suddenly rejects it because it wasn't good enough. Is this a bug? Or is it normal for them to suddenly decide that what they previously thought was acceptable suddenly isn't. It only happens when I've negotiated what seems like a really good deal, but it's really annoying since the game is basically lying to me.

It really isn't since height is just cosmetic, always has been. Height is generally tied to jumping reach so generally players with larger height have a bigger jumping reach but if by some miracle you found a 4'11 midget with jumping reach 20 he'd still be better in the air than a 7'0 giant with 19 jumping reach.
Height just means nothing really and was probably only put in because people think it should be there.

Well to be completely honest I feel the criticism is a bit harsh, Utd been pretty ravaged by injuries and still are getting the job done for the most part. I won't defend that the football he is playing is incredibly boring and football should be primarily about entertainment but I think they'll shape up given time once the injuries subside and he properly has the team he wants at his disposal.
Can imagine if they stick with him they'll be able to win trophies next year although pretty doubtful they play particularly attractive football even when they are in good shape although I think it'll be at least a little better than it is now.

I do agree that people are being a bit harsh against Van Gaal. It just reminded me of AVB because of the criticism. For AVB he was able to catch lightening in a bottle with Bale and while the rest of the attacking force wasn't up to snuff, won games. He also created a extremely solid defense that came undone at very unfortunate parts in the season that people latched on to. Having Kaboul/Dawson as CBs was an issue that he should have adjust to and failed but that is my only gripe with AVB. Poch is suffering from the same cant break down a defense issue but the fans never seem to bring it up or blame it on Poch, even though he has a more talented team than AVB. I actually like both managers but will forever be mad at how Spurs, and how the media, treated AVB.
Van Gaal is getting similar criticism simply because he plays at Man U, which fans rightfully expect should dominate. They just have to be realistic with themselves and admit that SAF somehow brought a shit team a title during his last year.
