First for NOBODY ON THIS TEAM BESIDES BRADY IS WORTH A FUCKING DAMN

Although Dola is still pretty great and White slowly earning my trust.

It's not fair that the panties get the easiest path to 19-0 ever. Any average team could do it with their schedule.

31st in passing yards allowed
23rd in passing TDs allowed
17th in rushing yards allowed
19th in rushing TDs allowed
2nd in interceptions
3rd in TOs forced
3rd in turnover percentage

they gave up a lot of yards but they didn't give up that many scores and forced turnovers at a high rate
not a great defense, but not 31st in the league, and not the worst of all time
>>
>>64062701
It was literally garbage. You can spout stats, but having personally watched all their games, that defense was hot. fucking. garbage.

Bend don't break but ok break completely that's fine too.

They were 2nd in Ints because every team would throw for 40 completions on 90 attempts against them.

Turnover percentage makes them seem better than what they were, but they were fucking terrible.
>>
What are the leading theories on why Robbie Gould's missed a 36 yard chip shot for the win on his birthday by like 20 feet way wide left?

Someone payed him a huge amount to throw?
>>
>>64062719
>no no this team was super terrible because i said so
ok man
they literally performed the way the stats say they did
i don't care if they don't pass your eye test or whatever, they played up to that level and can be held accountable for those stats
i know it's a better narrative to say that brady dragged a 31st ranked defense to the owl, and while them getting there was impressive, it wasn't that
they were a pretty meh defense that was especially bad in the secondary, but they weren't 2000 browns or something
it makes you look bad to have a complex like this
>>
>>64062755
Are you fucking shitting me man?

Your plastic fucking stats don't gauge how awful they fucking were, that offense could never get on the fucking field because opposing teams would have possession the entire fucking time because they ran up and down the field.

You really want to sit here and tell me that defense was complete and utter dogshit?

The likes of sergio brown and ras-I dowling and james ihedigbo surely weren't completely and utter fucking trainwrecks

And weren't you earlier arguing against us that Brady's stats in the Iggles game didn't "paint the big picture" of how he got fucking outplayed, but yet they clearly showed he performed well?

Way to be hypocritical. I actually fucking watched that team. You didn't. There's no fucking complex when it's the fucking truth.

pats have been chronically talent-strapped on both sides of the ball. the only perennial pro bowlers we've had beside Brady were Wilfork, Moss and Gronk

Brady has covered up the anemia of this team for the past 15 years. Season after season he's dragged a lousy/decent team deep into the playoffs and lost because while he belongs there, the rest of his organization does not.

I'm honestly glad that he'll be retiring sometime in the next few years so I can go back to not giving a single fuck about the NFL or pro football in general

Why am I a goddamn Falcons fan? Year after year this team disappoints me and every other fanbase shits on us while we're down, we've literally had the same level of success as the goddamn Lions and Browns.

ONE Super Bowl appearance and the team got dismantled by John 'Horse Face' Elway, I'm seriously just about to be done with the team altogether.

>>

Where did he say anything about scoring points ?

Works both ways
>>
>>64062901
But he's right, the Broncųcks cheated their salary cap to get Elway some fluke rings.
>>
>>64062902
No.
No one is saying that. That was a year Brady had legitimate talent around him. As he did in 01-04.

But every year outside of then, the talent on the team has been lacking.

People don't even realize 2009-2013 were rebuilding years for the Patriots.

They flipped the roster completely.
Changed a lot of Coordinators.

Hard not to see that Brady's help has been lackluster outside of the last year or 2, but with everyone dying even this year is withering.
>>

>>
>>64062779
i think you just have a different standard for dogshit desu
i'm not sure why you can't accept the possibility that maybe the 2011 patriots team wasn't just brady and 21 sacks of garbage that miraculously made the owl because brady threw the ball so hard other teams lost even though the defense was actively giving them free touchdowns
the narrative you adore doesn't get as impacted because the team wasn't the worst of all time at defense
since you're a die hard pats fan, i'm sure you saw the 90s pats team, especially the 1990 pats went 1-15 and gave up 446 points
a team that was slightly below middle of the road in most stats and a particularly bad secondary doesn't compare
yes, they were bad
no, they weren't historically shitty, or significantly bad in any other sense other than that it was a low point for a bill belichick coached pats team, or that teams don't usually make the super bowl with that kind of defense
>>64062797
>take away the good stats and only post the worse ones and it looks worse
mostly below average, but not bottom of the table outside the passing yardage stats really
>>64062805
nigga the pats teams that won 3 owls early in the decade were fucking amazing on defense
they had a top 6 defense every year they won, and a top 2 for the consecutive winning years
2007 they had one of the most talented team of all time, and it's not like those player all up and retired after that year
in recent years it's certainly been more about relying on brady to throw them into victories, but that hasn't always been the case

>>
Why don't teams just have 2 metre + tall WRs? Just throw the ball up in the air to them and they'll catch it because the cornerbacks are often manlets and will have no chance of getting to it. They don't even need to be fast, you just need to go the 10 yards every time until you score a touchdown
>>
>>64064209
A lot of teams do. They are called possession receivers.
>>
I just took a shit bigger than Cam Newton's dick and it felt so good. Is this what getting fucked in the ass by a black dude feels like?
>>
>>64064248
Yeah, I was watching that tight end Greg Olsen yesterday and I saw how he caught a ball that basically the defenders had no chance of getting. I wonder why teams don't have more players like that.
>>
>>64064209

Because too much height limits a person's agility so that they can't really turn and move well enough to play.

Most teams look for 6'5"ish (190-200cm) receivers, as it's pretty much the sweet spot where you're tall enough to win jumpballs regularly, but not so tall that you move like a retard like many of the taller basketballers do.
>>
Good evening, guys.

Last night didn't happen, right? It was all a dream?
>>
>>64064254
real thing is better desu senpai
>>
Here is why the Patriots offense sucks:

>Pro Football Focus @PFF
>After being pressured 31% of dropbacks in first 9 games, Tom Brady has been pressured 48% of the time the last 3, 2nd-highest in the league

The Patriots O line is bottom-3 in the NFL. Brady was able to bail them out with quick throws to Edelman and Lewis to a lesser extent. This was basically used in place of the run game because they cannot run block at all. Without those guys to throw to the O line gets exposed and not having Gronk dosen't help.
>>
>>64064400
When's the O-line back? Injury report on patriots.com is frustratingly unhelpful
>>
Is Blaine Gabbert finally developing?
>>
>>64064425
It is "back" except for Solder. This is who they are. Basically they are terrible.
>>
>>64064437

God damn it I actually thought the O-line was elite. They performed pretty good after that initial rotation last season. I guess it's all on the recievers getting open.
>>
>>64064430

Playing mediocre-ish against one of the worse pass defenses in the league isn't something I'd get too excited about
>>
>>64064449
No, Brady just got the ball out in about 2.1 seconds, so even the shittiest O linemen in the NFL could manage to hold a rusher off for that long/

Whoever wrote this:

seems to think Brady is surrounded by the leaest talented offense in the NFL. I think it's not a totally unfair assessment considering just how bad the OL is.

I'd like to add

Mason can run block, probably is the most athletic guy on the line.

Stork is THE ONLY guy giving brady more than 2 seconds to throw. Vollmer has been beat plentyful starting at left tackle, doesn't help cannon can't make an adjustment to save his 8 million lives.

LaFell turned into a pansy, giving up on all his routes late in the game.

Brady's best remaining receivers are jiggaboo #82 and his other pygmy that can only make catches being hit in the air.

It got so horrid brady said "fuck it I'll play receiver" and ran for like 35 yards after the catch.
>>
Does anyone have that list of 1st times from the eagles pats games

>first time pats allowed 35 unanswered since 1980
They had one tonight
>first time pats punt blocked for a TD since 2009
They had one tonight
Etc
Someone posted it yesterday and I forgot to cap

For anyone giving any Pats fans shit for leaving the game early, don't. I went to the game yesterday, and I saw everyone leaving so I decided to leave too. It was super cold and the game didn't go as expected. You're lying to yourself if you say you wouldn't have done the same thing.

The belief came back after that fumble. The second onside kick attempt wasn't successful, and that should have sealed the game, but the Football Gods thought it would be fun to give us some false hope by letting the fumble happen but have all receivers have stonehands.

Those last stretches made me proud as fuck to be a fan. As I mentioned before, I was kinda expecting Brady to get benched to avoid injury (nigga got molested again), but dat heart.

And that's probably what is keeping me from going full panic mode, besides the still good 10-2 record. It showed/reminded us that despite injuries, playcalling mistakes, player(s) mistakes, officiating, and whatever else gets in the way, this team refuses to give up. It refused last week, and refused yesterday.

He doesn't, though. There's no excuses. Try watching three first down throws in a row dropped on your final drive to tie the game.

They likely won't have this much bad luck down the stretch. If they heal up they're poised for a SB run. If not, they have tom Brady so they always have a chance.

what if your definition of a dropped pass as a raw stat is different? for example maybe one site is only counting passes that hit the receiver in both of his palms but then he juggled it, and maybe another site counts any pass that the receiver even got a finger on it as a drop. what if the result of a dropped pass ended in an interception rather than an incompletion? that could skew the numbers a bit too.

So we're going to the playoffs for sure if we win out because the Packers and Vikings both have to play the Cardinals still. They'll both lose to them and then they have to play each other so that's a guaranteed two losses for one of those teams and we would have the better conference record so we'd have the tie breaker for one of the wild card spots.

I was just weighing in on the nature of "raw" statistics to make it clear that it's often a misleading term, that's all. a bit curious though, do you happen to already know what definition PFF uses? personally, I think a ball that only touches the guy's fingertips isn't a drop. sure, it could still be the receiver's fault for whatever reason, but a drop should be "that was a ball that at that time and in that position, you should definitely be able to catch and you had your hands on it but let it go". if it hits a guy in the fingers I dunno that you can expect them to catch that every time, and if they do then it's a great play. maybe some of the elite guys should make them more often than not, but not every receiver.

Let's say you're a rookie rb/qb/wr in the NFL with a promising looking career.

You can:

>taunt people when you win
>buy flashy things and hooker
>make the news for trash talking
>have fun but make other fans hate you
>ultimately go down as 90% of players do who were good but not remembered

or you can

>give ball to teammates after tds
>celebrate with emotion, but class
>give money to charities
>visit sick kids or do something nice literally once a week
>don't showboat
>practice hard and put up GOAT stats
>even with just above average stats, be beloved by everyone and go down as nostalgic GOAT

Why don't more players go with option 2? Anyone can do it, and the rewards are much greater.

Spend that money on a flashy car, and clothes to fuck hotter chicks. Trash talk, 'cause you're at the prime of your life and all the haters before can't help but be mad as fuck.

Hi, different person.

That is not Historically bad. You are slightly moving goalpost by saying that a middle of the road team with a ball-hawking secondary is bad. They were 31st, not because they got replaced by the local high school team, but because they were going for the picks and giving up completions on third downs (the down that generally passes are thrown) and on the way to getting the first down, due to the corner selling out for a pick, rack up some YAC. Which led to them being on the field more. But the PPG, shows that they are more than capable of bearing down in the red zone. But the overall result is they are meh tier defense, who gives up chunks in the passing game trying to jump routes.

I won't go for a team to team comparison of an actually bad team since you take it as a personal slight, I'll stick exclusively to 2011. But the bottom 3 in pass defense (NO/NE/GB) where also the number 1,2, and 3 offenses in yards and points as well as two of them leading the league in takeaways (NE and GB). So it seems there is a correlation between teams spinning the scoreboard and giving up passing yards (garbage time perhaps), which would also explain the picks since they had more freedom to sellout for turnovers. Combined 2011 records of the teams mentioned 41-7 (13-3, 13-3, 15-1). The Packers and Pats were the 1 seeds (New Orleans was the NFC 3rd). Passing D on high scoring teams becomes irrelevant.

Fuck Norv Turners playbook so much. How can you hire a guy with that playbook and then draft a player who doesn't benefit from it?

Vertical throws and long drop backs when the QB is an intermediate throw expert and the receivers are YAC guys.

>le ad rb who can't power run and cut a million times out of shotgun formation because he hasn't hit top speed by then

This guy can't block or catch for shit. And Asiata scares no one and McKinnon is just a relief guy.
Should have traded AD to be honest and draft another RB who compliments the QB you have.

dude he is athletic as fuck even for his size. He jukes people that are 220 and throws the ball 50 to 60 yards down the field flat footed. He even did a fucking flip for a touchdown. you can argue about his accuracy and even his mvp candidacy but not his athleticism. The dude is the most athletic to ever play his position. No quarterback has his intangibles.

He is only 26 and has improved every year he has been in the league and he is on his way to 30 passing tds and 10 rushing tds.

if you say so.

it's not meant as a subjective ranking, or even some sort of power ranking for who's strongest right now. if you go by that, then what the fuck are the bears doing at 11, the lions at 15, the 49ers at 17 and the rams at 18, right?

but by all means, keep pointing out why your opinion differs, along with justification. it's not supposed to be that accurate anyways, just precise, so counterarguments are always welcome.
>>
>>64066261
honestly green bay always seems to have a lot of cap space because they build through the draft more then anyone and get very few free agents.

Baltimore and Denver have mismanaged their cap badly.

New Orleans has ravaged their cap so bad that Brees may retire before that gets fixed

Honestly every year teams who "win" free agency disappoint more then anything else. I remember vince young and the "dream team" eagles. They were horrible.
>>
>>64066934
It really is amazing how big, stronk and fast American males are compared to other countries. I was in the military and have been all over and it's crazy that everywhere I went I was taller, fitter and larger than the natives.

God I love being American. We truly are God's master race.
>>
>>64066939
More athletic than Vick, PLUS he is not a total douche. So you lose that one.

Now, if you wanna try and make a case for Young, I'm listening.
>>
>>64066987
Baltimore hasn't really mismanaged their cap. It's not like they could have foresaw Rice punching his wife, Suggs tearing his Achilles or Ngata being a prick and not re doing his contract. Once that dead money clears up they are good to go. They also don't restructure contracts like Pittsburgh who is going to get fucked in the ass in a year or two when all their backloaded contracts catch up to them.
>>

>>
>>64066987
At least with Denver all the FAs they've picked up have contracts ending next summer and 2017. They'll find room for Von Miller, Wolfe, and possibly Osweiler.

>>
>>64066055
Eventually the NFL will have eight teams from each conference in the playoffs,so maybe in the next 20 years.

actually more likely to be within the next few seasons, they've brought it up as a serious possibility each of the last several annual owner's meetings in the offseason, it's just that so far the decision has been "not this year after all, maybe next time".
>>
>>64066987
Denver actually has a pretty solid cap situation because when Manning retires it'll free up a huge chunk, and even if he doesn't want to retire they can actually cut him and only get stuck with minimal dead money. They'll almost certainly be able to get Miller locked up and probably Osweiler too if they think he's worth it.
>>

Not really. They can easily go 10-6 and miss the playoffs depending on how the Chiefs and Steelers finish the season if the Jets win the rest of their games. Even the Titans are a difficult oppnent at this point.

The best case scenario is that they have a bye and get healthy for the playoffs. I think whoever comes out of the AFC will just lose to Seattle though.

Baltimore did let valuable pieces go but yeah they had some bad luck more then them mismanaging.

I'm a carolina panthers fan and we had a badly mismanaged cap for 3 years which is why we never signed any big free agents and we let so many pieces go.

We are in far better shape now and we are looking to sign Norman and short this coming off season. We will be a force for a while.

Btw I hope Steve smith is alright and plays one more year for you guys and balls out. Love mighty mouse and will always want to see him do well.

Mike Vick is faster but he isn't as built as Newton. Vick has only had 2 or 3 healthy seasons in his career. Cam is also more accurate and a stronger arm.

Steve young is good but cam could break all his records this year.

>intangibles unit as, elway, Peyton
They are better but not because of their intangibles. Cams has still not hit his prime and has more room to go and can make his reads and throws like Peyton but run like Vick. That's incredible while making him a unique threat that is incredibly difficult to game plan.

from what I heard, the idea is still in the minority but that minority has been growing a bit each year with the league doing most of the pushing. as it is, that minority will probably take about 5 years to get to enough size to actually have real weight, and then it becomes a serious hot button issue which will either squash the idea long-term, or end up pushing it through. they all know they can make more money off of it, they're just holding out for other reasons. the bottom line increase will just be too tempting for them to keep rejecting it indefinitely.

this is all assuming, of course, that there's no incident in the next few years that creates an uproar over the current playoff system and causes a huge immediate push for change. for example, maybe if a division champ with a losing record made the playoffs but then lost embarassingly with a shitty home attendance turnout. two other losing record teams have made the playoffs before, but then they backed it up by winning.
>>
>>64067666
>>64067637

this from the rule book under unsportsmanlike conduct, one of the sub-categories

HIDE OUT
(l) An offensive player lines up or is in motion less than five yards from the sideline in front of his team’s
designated bench area. However, an offensive player can line up less than five yards from the
sidelines on the same side as his team’s player bench, as long as he is not in front of the designated
bench area.
(m) Repeatedly abusing the substitution rule (time in) in attempts to conserve time. See 5-2-2.
(n) More than two successive 40/25 second penalties (after warning) during same down.

Delay of Game constitutes as a 40/25 second penalty so 3 or more would result in unsportsmanlike conduct. Multiple unsportsmanlike conducts on the QB would kick him from the game. So I guess it can't legally be done because eventually your roster would be depleted and you would be forced to forfeit the game, resulting in a loss

I can't speak for the rest of the offense but it wasn't Peterson's fault that they went down by like 30 fucking points and had to ditch the run game.

I think they lost because their best defenders got hurt, their O Line couldn't keep up with Seattle's new found pass rush and they got in too big of a hole early on.

People are shitting on Bridgewater too early. I think once this team fixes the offensive line he'll be fine

GB is poised for a spectacular year

Aaron Rodgers coming off an MVP season, calling his own plays and having qbs and receivers being coached in the same room. Also heavy competition for 4th and 5th WR spots

Fresh DBs and Ha Ha in his second year has potential for one of the most well rounded secondaries in the league with one of the best DB coaches

Matthews being coached inside instead of just jumping in head first and a promising new ILB along with resigning defensive linemen Guion and Raji to 'prove-it' contracts means the front 7 will likely perform better than last year

Special teams coordinator fired and draft heavily focused on special teams capable players means likely no longer having a last in league ST squad

All of the improvements occured after GB barely lost in the NFCCG. They are in a prime position to be a dominating team while being the 6th youngest team in the NFL with the 8th most cap space

not really sure the 49ers are much deserving of hype, but if it's not too tedious and when I have some free time I could help I guess. I often end up just dicking around in excel anyways just to master features I haven't yet, so I might as well take up a challenge that's actually productive. I can't guarantee any sort of timetable though, my paid work schedule comes first.

honestly though maybe I should just teach you how to do it yourself, or at the least make it and then explain how it works so that you can actually make better use of it at your workplace. I like teaching anyways, I used to be a freelance tutor for a long time, but the point is that if you don't know how the spreadsheet works yourself then it might be an issue to modify it later on.

Bet. I'll hit you up about it when I get another project. I know basics of excel, but I know there's better ways to go about it than how I do it.

They don't know I didn't graduate or go to college, I'm just really good at faking.

Legit question

Will Broody recover mentally from getting humiliated by a rookie with 1 win and a literal 3 and out QB before the AFC championship game?

How were my points disproven?

I stated that the Vikings offensive line is bad, which they are, and that AP needs to be fed touches to be productive, which is true, and that teddy needs protection to succeed, which is also about right

>I know basics of excel
I will reserve my doubts on this until you can actually show me what you DO know. I've been told this by people before who I've tried to help, but it turned out they only know about formula entry and sorting functions. they didn't even know about value pasting, locking row/column references, or conditional formatting. I had to give them a crash course before we could even get started on the good stuff.

AP can't run the ball as well out of the shotgun so teddy will just have to adjust.
