>>
>>64063794
> pretty much worthless without him at this point
It wasn't worthless throughout 2011 and 2012 with him on a shitbox Ducati, it wasn't in 2013 when Marquez came and had his battle with Lorenzo, and it wasn't worthless in 2014 when he wiped the floor with everyone else on weekly basis.
Attendance was still high, some races were still sold out, on-track action was still thrilling. It's only been since Qatar this year (maybe late 2014) when the rosstards came back.

> Even with his flaws, at least he's not morally corrupt like Lorenzo or Marquez
Lol, the fact that people need to invent a new villain for Rossi every other year just to be able to look at the sport from his perspective again is the best case for him not being as perfect as you try to picture.
And if you think his actions since pre-Sepang were caused by him genuinely feeling wronged by the Spanish-Jewish-communist-mason consipracy, then maybe he's not morally corrupt, but only plainly retarded.

Currently, Rossi-vs-the-world is the only narrative that fanbase knows, but that hasn't been the case at least since 2010. If these people had any kind of power over the sport, you'd have FormulaE twitter polls, only instead of #FanBoost they'd deliver #FanHighsides.
It's not the only approach to the sport and no, it's not crazy to blame the fanbase for thinking it is.

If you are somewhat familiar with a black person you can call them 'negro' (black) as a nickname

When you are not familiar with English and you hear nigger it's pretty normal to think it has the same usage, because it sounds similar and whatnot

>>64066348
literally suarez amirite
>>
>>64066384
So in Spanish it's not racist for a white person to call a black person "negro"?
>>
>>64066384
That's how "nigger" started too. It came as a mispronouncing of the word negro and simply meant black person, but it quickly became used as a derogatory word.
>>
>>64066420
depends on context really

like, if you say 'these [negros] always begging for money get a job' then it's pretty racist

however for example where I live the darkest skinned person on a given group will always be 'el negro' (literally "the black" or "the nigger" as our friend roberto illustrated here) and calling him that won't be racist. You don't even have to be black to be know as 'el negro', just dark skinned (though that's because not a lot of actual black people here)

If they had more resources or spent more time on the 08 car, it really could have been a title challenger.

I've never been a huge fan of the 2006-08 cars. I appreciate them for being amazing pieces of engineering, but I would take almost any other generation of F1 cars over them when it comes to aesthetics. The simpler the better for me

>>64076943
Not because its too fast, because its too dangerous. The purposed 2017 regs make the cars faster and have more floor effects than current cars 2bh >>64067490 (see 6)

Thing is you cant have cars that depend too much on this effect. People were always ok with until this year, I don't know what happened that everyone suddenly started wanting it back.
>>
>>64077073
People want it back because they've realised that these complicated front wings result in less overtaking. Groud effect can be very dangerous but it at least creates less dirty air behind the cars.

1. Rosberg (pretty easy WDC, as HAM will get reckless and fucks up too much)
2. Vettel (Ferrari gets much closer, but still not enough)
3. Hamilton (pisses off Merc for ignoring strategy, team orders, etc., leaves/fired and goes back to the much improved McLaren or, though very doubtful, replaces a retiring Kimi at Ferrari)
4. Raikkonen (steals a win or two, some podiums at least, retires)

12. Button (inconsistent and unlucky but with flashes of brilliance, retires, small scandal as sex tape of him and Jessica is released after the season)
13. Sainz (it's close, but outdoes Mad Max in quali and race yet remains in his shadow)

17. Maldonado (only 7 DNFs, Huzzah!)

That simply won't happen, there is no incentive for major companies to advertise on race cars anymore. What you see on the cars now are mainly corporate partnerships related to the manufacturer or entrant. Unrelated companies get better value by using Google analytics than random sppnsorships.

>Mercedes Sues F-1 Engineer for Data Theft Before Move to Ferrari

>Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains, which makes engines for the Mercedes Petronas team, is suing Benjamin Hoyle, according to an Oct. 19 filing released Monday.
>Hoyle, who intends to join Ferrari after his contract expires in December, searched for and saved files including a race report from the Hungary 2015 Grand Prix, mileage and damage data relating to Mercedes’ F1 engines and files containing code required to decrypt raw race data files, the suit alleges.
>Hoyle’s "actions were calculated to destroy or seriously damage the relationship of trust" he has with Mercedes, the company said in the filing. "Mr. Hoyle and potentially Ferrari have gained an unlawful advantage."

Werhlein Rossi is the ideal Manor pairing, and my guess for who will fill the seats.

There is no one else with the talent or credentials of either of these two that will have enough funding to take the seat:

-King and Haryanto were clearly beaten by Rossi in GP2 this season (though they have the cash).
-McLaren doesn't have money to waste on Vandoorne and would be complicated with Mercedes and Werhlein.
-That meme girl's name thrown around doesn't have a super license
-Kmag will move to sports cars and has no money

Who are the other options? Surely Manor will pursue drivers of talent in hopes they can wrestle the car a few places higher than it should be given they'll have a competitive PU.

He's been in open wheelers since fucking 2007, been in GP2 cars since 2009, FR3.5 since 2010 and hasn't won a fucking title since 2008. hHis three GP2 wins this year were due to having more experience than 4/5 of the field, not because he's a good driver. He should've absolutely annihilated Vandoorne.

Again, he's been driving GP2 cars since 2009, on and off admittedly, but that's over 60 fucking races in GP2 - far more than enough experience to warrant winning a championship.
>Outpaced Stevens who had been in the car all year
Yes, Lord Will "the Lad" Stevens, the second fastest driver on earth. Obviously this must mean that Rossi is epic quickz and deserving of a full-time race seat.
>Brought in a ton of sponsorships to Manor
He brought Alaska Coffee Roasting Co and Coupons.com. Less than 2mil in sponsorship. There are better drivers who bring more money. Stevens brought over 5 times what Rossi brought.

vettel should be first. grosjean does not deserve to be that high. and no fucking way should maldonado be last. he was very close to grosjean in the races, and the points gap would be much closer if he scored points at spa.

yes, maldonado was poor in qualifying - but it's the race which counts. he was not worse than the manor drivers or ericsson.

Ok Then, here's my major gripes;

>Stevens and Mehri
I'm not claiming that Mehri was some racing god, nor do I think he would have had a long career in F1, but to put him behind Stevens is just wrong. Mehri creamed his team mate during the races and was equal on lap times DESPITE being far heavier.

>Foreskindia
I'll admit, I'm a Hulkenberg fan and his Le Mans win was great, but in terms of F1 he's seriously lagged behind Perez this year. Not just in terms of points, but I feel Perez has been the more exciting racer. He should get a little more credit than 0.01

>Muh Shamilton
I wouldn't have complained too much if he'd been top, but to be top by that margin is a bit unfair. Vettel should AT LEAST be close to him. As for everyone else, I don't see why they couldn't have been as good as him. Ok Rosberg became a beta for most of the year, but was he really the most fun to watch, or most tactically minded etc...

>Ericsson
Should be objectively last. Are you seriously telling me a guy whose teammate scored three times as many points as him deserves to be ahead of Massa and only 0.20 behind said teammate. On that note, Nasr should be higher, congrats to him.

OK Rant over
>>
>>64094086
this is the only place where you can get balanced opinions senpai. i'm a pastor fan. i like anyone who drives for williams (it was trying being a bruno senna fan though), and his victory in barcelona was utterly magnificent. i want that pastor back.

pastor has been nowhere near as bad as people make him out to be this year. slightly disappointing, but far from awful.

maldonado did that this year (not the only driver to do so) and the media shit on him. i'm not saying he would have, but if the power units were not fragile, he may have finished at least 5th or 6th.

podium aside, he and grosjean were very even on points. pastor had worse luck, but people turn a blind eye and label him worst driver of the season. yeah, no.

So, I bandwagon´d the F1 as most mexicans because of our race, I watched previous races but couldn´t go because >lolpoor and I started to like it, now the Formula E has announced their race here and it's much cheaper and I intend to go.

How different is it and what can I expect from it?

formula e:
>is a spec series (all the cars are the same)
>except for the electric motors which the teams are allowed to develop
>is quiet as heck because it's electric
>is much slower than formula 1, a similar speed to formula 3 (a junior series for young drivers to progress up the racing ladder)
>race exclusively on street circuits (or inner city locations like parks, or in this case the autodromo hermanos rodriguez which is right in the middle of mexico city) to showcase how green and quiet they are
>has really close racing compared to f1 where the whole field is massively spread out
>and the racing is actually of really high quality because every driver is pushing the car to its limits at all times, even when they're energy saving, unlike f1 where drivers have to conserve the tyres to make it to the end of the stint

Does anyone else think they need to do something to curb those insane wheelbases? In the late '80s they were only ~2.8m even with tonnes more fuel than they have now, so accommodating the fuel tank isn't an excuse. Longer wheelbases mean the cars are more predictable to drive but it also punishes sliding much more than a short wheelbase. I dunno, just a thought.
>>
>>64102233

I mean they keep going on about making the cars harder to drive and shaving ~20-ish cm off the wheelbase would make them monsters.

That's not how it'd go... The one in front drives defensive lines, to prevent the follower from overtaking. Defensive lines are slower, but block any spaces to make the pass.

The follower can't pass because the spaces are blocked, and so his pace is limited by the guy in front.

Thus, both go slower than the actual limit.
>>
>>64105626
defending distracts them from braking and hitting apices in just the right way, sometimes takes them off the ideal line, which causes them to lose speed and thus time

I like browsing that site as well so I can pretend I understand aero and other /f1/ related concepts.

Robocars + FE is a really good package though, the fact that theyre doing it the same time as Formula E races is pretty cool, more content
>>
>>64122829
In fairness, it sounds like it'll be better than Formula E's support series last season. Does anyone remember those kids in school built cars.
>>
>>64122887
Yeah i remember that, people would laugh because they went slower than bicycles haha, hopefully the robocars have some semblance of speed and theres lel worthy crashes, thats all we can ask for
>>
>>64122896
The biggest issue may be the computers programming. Ok there's no human controlling it but think.

>Car B is 1.5 seconds behind Car A with one lap to go.
>They approach the final corner
>Car B knows there is mathematically only 1 way to win
>Car B rams into Car A in order to take him out
>Car B wins

Does that go unpunished?
Who would you blame?
Would it matter?
>>
>>64122945
>>64122896
Will the cars have rocket boosters and weaponry?
>>
>>64122945
To expand on my point, will they even bother to overtake. Can they?

>You've got cars going at the mathematically best speed.
>They are all about the same
>Can they catch each other
IF they can
>Can a computer calculate how to overtake without the other computer knowing?
>If it tries and can't is the priority to:
>>A Back off and lose time
>>B Ram the Car
>>C Jump over the kerb and lose time

Maybe I'm being pessimistic, or maybe I'm just hoping the cars will annihilate each other on track for personal gains.

>>
>>64122945
>>64123027
I'm a computer engineer, I'll offer my opinion on what autonomous racing would be like.

Each car would use an array of sensors to maintain situational awareness of competing cars. Prediction algorithms will be used to analyze the input data and try to project the path of the car in front and will adjust the throttle, steering, breaks, etc. accordingly.

Every move will be stone cold and calculated. There would be no emotion, stress, tension, mistakes, anything that makes racing worth watching.

It would honestly be so bad to watch that the only way I could possibly see this gaining any traction would be in a time attack rally style format with one car trying to set the fastest possible time.
>>
>>64123364
yeah, that's what I thought
it'll be like watching the AI fight itself in racing games
>>
>>64123400
Not exactly. In video games the control of ai cars is centralized. It's programmed to provide the most realistic experience to the player.

In real life, competing cars will have their own control systems and they won't be communicating with each other.

Basically the turn one scenario described earlier would be each car would put so much precedence on self preservation that they would go through so slowly and it wouldn't be exciting at all.

Actually, looking at the front wing, it seems to be an RB4, because the wing lacks the neutral zone at the centre.

Or maybe they just put older wings on a newer-spec show car.

Hungarybro, how is F1's following in your country? You've had a race for nearly 30 years now, are there actual dedicated fans, or mostly casuals?

Also, I just want to say, I found Budapest to be one of the most beautiful places I've ever been to.
>>
>>64143329
It's mixed actually, even casuals in my circles are kinda familiar with most drivers from the 2000s and the latest stuff. There are dedicated fans but they're either nerds or 50 yo creeps. People are mostly Kimi fans. But I wouldn't like to generalize since we're probably like every other country except with a GP and unexplainable and unconditional/blind love for Finnish drivers.
>>
>>64143633
>even casuals in my circles are kinda familiar with most drivers from the 2000s and the latest stuff.

That's pretty good. Over here, even in the years when we had a race, the vast majority knew only Schumacher, Ferrari, Red Bull, and Force India. And this was the demographic considered as 'non-casual fan' .

As for the Finn thing, one of my tour guides told me the Hungarian population originated from people who came to the region from Finland. So maybe people bandwagon because of the cultural history?
>>
>>64143732
Yeah that's still not 100% confirmed. One source says we're from mongolia like the finns and our languages are very similar in terms of basic words and structure but some medieval codexes say we were like turks.
It's a shame there are no races in India though. I don't really know much about the economics around the track but it surely had to add something positive at least for that area.
