They're either posturing or fucking delusional. Where the fuck is Oklahoma going to go? The P12, and have West Coast road trips? Fuck no. The SEC? EL OH fucking EL. The B1G? That doesn't make any sense, and the B1G certainly wouldn't take OSU. Independent? Seriously?

That's the problem for Oklahoma, Texas, and anyone else in the B12 who may be decent in the future, they're stuck where they are. They need to get over the bad blood and worry about surviving, but seems like Texas and OU boosters have such outrageous egos that they would rather watch their programs die than admit they need each other.

Man fuck it 12 and 1 is still 12 and 1. At least bump the playoff to 6/8 and give a spot to a group of 5 team if they're
1.Conference Champ
2.Have 11+ wins
3.Highest ranked in the top 25

Because it was a joke hearing the guys earlier discussing the possibilty of OSU getting a chance to sneak into the playoffs despite not playing an extra game/being a potential conference champ while Houston gets shafted.

>>
>>64009244
Little brother isn't the right term. We were just so bad for so long, people stopped considering us. Now that we are consistently winning 8 games a year, we'll see how long until we are relevant. People forget that outside of Archie, Ole Miss has been just as shit as us historically.

Conferences Championships would mean something don't know how the committee is going to add OSU in the top4.

We need more teams asap
>>
2016 SEC Standings

West:
1. Arkansas
2. Alabama
3. LSU
4. Auburn
5. Ole Miss
6. Texas A&M
7. Mississippi State

East:
1. Tennessee
2. Florida
3. South Carolina
4. Kentucky
5. Georgia
6. Missouri
7. Vanderbilt
>>
>>64009170
Because OU actually does think of OSU as it's little brother and tries to take care of them. It makes it easier politically in the state in an age of academic budget cuts.

There is no upside in the Big 12. When your brilliant idea to save the conference is to add UCF and Memphis you are officially irrelevant. That's Big East tier bullshit.

With the schools the Big 12 lost, they are by far the worst academic conference.
>>
>>64009184
>Texas has the largest market in the country (or at least when they are winning, the same goes for Ohio State, the other largest market) so they could EASILY be independent.
Maybe if they'd made that transition when they were winning. Now they're not even the best program in their own state. Hell, at best they're the 3rd best program in their own state.

>How is the fact that Oklahoma getting an invite to the SEC and being heavily considered by the Big 10 and Pac 12 considered "dying programs"?
Because that is what will happen if they join any of them. The P12 road games will fuck them. The SEC competition will mean fewer/less prestiges bowl berths. And the B1G would destroy their recruiting.

>Oklahoma turned them down because they have the luxury to, so does texas.
lol ok dude. I want you to remember that you said this 10 years from now, if it actually happens.

>Everyone else in the country thinks its a good idea...but you don't? So it isn't? Fuck off.

>Texas has more top 25 wins than Ohio State and Iowa combined.
>>
>>64009005

Texas and OU will never leave the B12 because for all intents and purposes, they own that conference. once Texas gets its shit back together, they both know its basically beat Texas or beat Oklahoma and that's it. Nebraska and A&M leaving only made it that much more so. Baylor and OSU will fall off like they do. TCU might but they're pretty consistently competitive.

When both make so much money where they are, why give up what should be the easiest path to the playoffs in CFB

I think it's much more likely that UH and someone else is added than anything else.

They're already fucking rolling in money, a little bit more of it won't buy them more success when they're stacking the odds against themselves.

>Why should Oklahoma and Texas split money with no-value teams like Cincinnati and Houston???
a.) Because the 2 of them together can dictate terms to everyone else and b.) they will actually be able to compete for titles every year, which would not be the case in any of the other stacked P5s (>nb4 arrogance, we numba wun, beat errybody, etc).

>It absolutely makes sense to move to another conference if they can't get 2 MARKETABLE teams,

>Texas isn't the best program in their state...so what? It still has a huge market.
Then why do you want them to sell out for more money and less success?

>its literally shorter drive than west virignia,
You dumb fuck, WVU is the oddball in the B12. THEY are the ones that have to go to everyone else all the time. You only go there once every 2 years. In the P12, Texas/Oklahoma would be the fucking oddball. Fuck, you're fucking retarded. No wonder you're in favor of this shitfest.

>If Oklahoma can't win away games they don't deserve it anyway, retard.
And if you don't play all your non-conf games against top 10 P5s you don't deserve a playoff spot, right? Except no one fucking does that. Getting into the top 4 is hard enough as is, why would anyone punish themselves by making it harder?

>It goes both ways aswell. the SEC competetion....really?
Yes, really, nigger. You think they're gonna just roll into town and stomp the SEC heavyweights? Even with the SEC being down, OU would be fighting constant uphill battles with Alabama and LSU in terms of keeping up with their talent, and Florida, Georgia, and Auburn would be on/near their talent level most years, along with the odd mid-table team.

>Oklahoma would go the the SEC east to balance it out, and that division is shit.
They wouldn't be in the East, Missouri would move to the West with OU and Alabama and Auburn would move to the East. But even if they were in the East it wouldn't be a cakewalk. Florida was a fucking good team this year when they had a good QB, they will be good under McElwain. Okay, granted, we don't know what Georgia will look like and the rest are shit, but 3-4 East Coast road trips a year to the strongest region in terms of churning out NFL talent just means more trap games.

It doesn't matter what they want, it's how much money they make. Right now they are the kings of the conference. Little schools be damned
>>

>>
>>64009981
You absolutely implied Oklahoma and Texas moving would be "suicide." Years of Big 12 instability isn't going to be changed by adding 2 shitty teams as long as Texas is an overbearing shithead. If the Big 12 expands they better hope whoever they add is developed into a better market and gain respect and solidarity. Who knows how long TCU and Baylor keep their shit together. Even with 12 teams the big 12 would be the ACC 2.0 (2 perennial powerhouses and a random 3rd team on an upshoot) a conference people still barely respect.

>>
>>64010118
As long as TCU and Baylor have Patterson and Briles, they'll be fine.

It's not either of those schools' fault that Texas and Oklahoma have been down for a few years. OU has gotten gud again, Texas needs to hurry the fuck up.

>Oklahma would still play texas every year...BOOM recruiting reps in Texas.
Just playing UT isn't going to buy you the top recruits in Texas. If their road to the CFP is easier than yours, they will beat you in 2/3 living rooms.

>nice hypothetical fuckface.
It's not hypothetical, stumpfucker, it's a warning. You can heed it or not, doesn't matter. I'll be the one saying 'I told you so.'

>Once again you're the only one who thinks its suicide.
Then why aren't you telling me who says its a good idea? Better yet, if no one is opposed, then why hasn't it happened?

>In general the media thought the move would be a good idea,
Yeah, good for them, not for OU.

>especially when it looked like the big 12 would collapse, which it could any second.
lol, it will only collapse if OU and Texas want it to.

>L-OH-fucking-L what the fuck
>is that seriously one of your arguments? ahahaha
Yes, you retarded cousinfucker. I know you live in some Prairie bubble where everyone is polite and hospitable, but in the real world most people aren't looking out for your best interests. They want what you have. In the case of OU/UT, other programs would love nothing more than to see you fall off and then sweep in and pick your recruiting base clean. They are not your fucking friends, they don't want you in their conferences because they respect you or want you to succeed.

What do OU and Texas care? They are both in the top 10 most profitable programs, Texas is fucking #1, they're gonna get paid regardless.

>For fucks sake, bob stoops lost 3 of the 4 title games he played for. If oklahoma played those shit teams people would look at them like undefeated BYU's and Utah's and TCU's of yesteryear.

Yes, that's exactly what opposing coaches and ADs (and conference commissioners) think. They don't want you to come in and beat their asses every year, and they wouldn't invite you if that was a serious concern.

>and go and write articles about it in order to influence said team to make that move,
The media has their own motivation (i.e., prime time games).

OU has come up for AAU nomination multiple times. Kansas, Iowa State, Mizzou, A&M, Nebraska (at the time), and a huge chunk of the B1G were willing to let them in; hell, even the Cal system schools and Ivy were fine with it.

The sole vote that's kept them out for over 10 years has been Texas, because they know OU and Kansas will bolt to the B1G the instant Oklahoma gets AAU membership. When Stoops and Boren say they don't want to put up with Texas's shit anymore it goes beyond athletics.
