Huge contracts sink franchises but are borderline necessary to stay competitive. Not entirely necessary but how many Series' have small market teams won lately, sans Royals anyway.
How to fix? I'm not going to say I know what is best. I think there should be some sort of "max contract" established, capping how much someone can make per season. Either that or flat out Salary Cap. Parity in the NFL is more or less there. It would need to be phased in.
