The most impressive thing about Steph’s basketball career is he’s gotten better every year. It’s probably true over his entire life. I don’t think he’s ever not improved from one season to the next. That’s pretty tough to do when you win MVP and lead a team to 67 wins and an NBA title—but just look at what he’s doing this season. He’s taken his game to heights that we couldn’t have even imagined.
I’m fortunate enough to get to see Steph work on his craft behind the scenes. If you were to watch him train you would understand how he does these insane things when everyone is watching. If we all worked with the same focus and efficiency he approaches the game with, we’d all be incredibly accomplished people. He hones his shot every day and he’s already the best shooter in the world. When I watch him drain a 30-footer off the dribble, I’m never surprised. You don’t see all the work he puts into that shot, that exact situation. He’s practiced everything.
Not only was Steph the most dominant basketball player on the planet in 2015, but he also helped change the game. It’s no longer unusual to take 10 or 11 three-pointers in a game because he pioneered a new way of thinking. He’s partially responsible for the way the perimeter game has been turned into a weapon in the NBA. He exploited a rule that a lot of people knew was there but had yet to master. He’s made the three-point line his and is executing with astonishing efficiency. To lead a team like he did last year and evolve the game along the way, it’s something people are going to remember for a very long time. Every championship gets its proper due, but some stand out a little more than others. I think this one might be the exception.

i wish that every good player could have played together in their prime. Not that LeBron is bad now, he's still arguably the best player in the game, especially with his playoff and leadership skills, but theres a legitimate argument for Steph being better and I'd like to have seen them when they were both 27 play against each other in an MVP race.
I think that LeBron at 27 was noticeably better than Steph is right now, but I think Steph at 32 will be better than LeBron at 32. The longevity in a jump shooting game is usually much better. That being said, at 30, LeBron is still averaging 25.6/7.8/6.4 which really isn't much different than any other year, just his FG% down a bit, so who knows how he will be playing 2 years from now.

Why does this matter? Steph is shooting 68% at the rim this season. His true shooting percentage is 70% this season and that stat is inflated by the number of free throws you take...for comparison KD in 13-14 was at 63%. Not even KD can put up buckets as efficiently and quickly as Steph because Steph does his damage from 30 feet out. Steph has made 102 threes in 20 games this season and has played only 34 minutes a game. Steph is averaging 32 a game in 34 mpg and KD was averaging 38 mpg to get 32 points. You're deliberately discounting Steph's effect on the floor right now and putting him in a box of just a three point shooter...you don't watch enough to see how deadly Steph is inside the line too.

Steph is arguably more impactful defensively as well because he has such quick hands and good defensive instincts that he can blow up a possession. That's not even an exaggeration. i would too, but i'd say it's a pretty stiff competition between this year's curry and durant in 2013-14. as an overall scorer, curry is probably better because of his 3pt shooting, but durant was better in a lot of other categories.
neither of them have ever been on an all-defensive team though, which i think is pretty important if you wanna put yourself in GOAT conversation. steph is improving a lot here, and so is durant, so they have time to become elite defenders, but they aren't there yet. the only other option imo is if steph starts getting 35ppg for several seasons or something. kobe, bron, mj, kareem have all been elite defenders. magic never did but he won 5 chips and 3 fmvps and had ridiculous assist and steals numbers, but i do think his lack of ever being elite brings him off that conversation.

Even if the 76ers draft Simmons and trade away their abundance of bigs for pieces and assets, aren't they still fucked? They would essentially be blowing up their "progress" to get a guaranteed superstar and just hope things pan out over the next few years around Simmons.
The biggest problem is they'd need vets to guide their players, and that won't be happening through free agency with how shit the organization has been. The only logical situation for progress is if they overpay a vet to come play (guys care more about winning now since all contracts are large under the new TV deal), or they trade for vets. There's just no way in hell Hinkie will trade away his assets for an aging player just for leadership and clarity.
I feel like the 76ers should go the TWolves route and surround their players with vets to lead them, but I don't see Hinkie doing that because it seems all he cares about is the draft and saving a few sheckels.

I believe in the next couple years they will be more shooters like Steph Curry as he has made shooting 3's the cool thing to do. This Is just an observation I have made in my time playing ball and has no scientific backing at all.
I play HS basketball and was is my last year playing, am a guard and am arguably the best player on the team so I generally have been able to take whatever shots I want, without consequences. What I've noticed about myself since last season, is I have been taking more and more stupid shots such as pulling up from "30" or taking a shot as soon as I bring the ball up. Fundamentally I know this is bad, but we always try to emulate our role models such as Steph Curry.
So since I knew I would be taking those shots I started practicing them, and before you know it pulling up from "30" wasn't such a bad shot from me. I have also noticed that opposing players from the other teams are also attempting these shots, and the coaches don't lose it as much as they know we practice taking shots from "30".
All I am really trying to say then is because Steph Curry is taking ridiculous 3's little kids are practicing those shots and becoming better. Soon when the next generation of players comes in they will all be taking and making these shots as these are the shots they have grown up taking.
