Have you ever actually watched him play golf? He's always torquing his body with a ton of force when he's in deep rough/trees/bunkers. He's also been playing since he could walk, grinding for hours upon hours every day to become as good as he was. Golf is extremely taxing on your back and knees when you've played for a long time - Fred Couples had the same problem later in his career.
