What american commentators though? 99% of the time we get British guys.
The only exceptions are shitty Gus Johnson and the guy they put in to contain Ray Hudson's crazy ass.
These days in American pro sports all the passionate, informed commentary is in regional tv and especially radio.
I can only guess a lot of the sleepy broadcasting is done to make things safe for the LCD or appeal to the oldfag generations who can't take too much excitement.
