The London Jaguars really is going to be a thing soon.

Oh well, England is used to Arab owners and at least the Jags are on the upswing.

I like that idea - it's basically turning them into the villain characters from wrestling. Image how worked up the white trash NFL fans will be when they see the London Redcoats running out in Texas or Carolina.

>one of the team had the travel that much more than the others

Yeah, this isn't happening. There's not even a team in Canada
>>
>>63789229
It will happen if it makes money. It's not about a fair competition, it's about building the brand and increasing tv audience. People in Canada are already NFL fans and watch it on tv. Few people in Europe do.
>>
>>63789229
That's because there's some agreement between the NFL and the CFL that the NFL will leave them alone
>>
>>63789039

Why would they go to any other country? The NFL doesn't care about fans, they care about markets, London sells out all its games and is one of the most wealthy cities in the world with billionaires out the arse living here they can woo. They also don't have to worry about making deals with teams to use their stadiums as Wembley isn't in use except for international games and cup finals.
>>

i believe i read somewhere the jags are locked in for at least 5 more london games with the possibility of more

This is the dumbest shit. There won't be a fan base to sustain a team. They're not going to cheer for a bunch of American players playing an American sport in an American League.

This is so fucking dumb
>>
Well, if there is a team there I hope it's in the AFC so my team will only have to play them every 4 years.

Fuck I'd hate to share a division with them.

That wouldn't stop anybody, a London franchise would be supported fine, there's another yank expats here to fill Wembley 8 times a year alone.

The only thing that is stopping it is scheduling around the travelling and time difference, I think it will only be a matter of time, maybe 10 years or so. Maybe we will have a new type of plane that can cross the Atlantic in a couple of hours like the concord did etc.
>>
>>63789434

enough yank expats*
>>
>>63789434
>ex pats

That's the problem, English people won't give a fuck and the team will be a failure. Especially if they have losing seasons
>>
>>63789469

You underestimate the British willingness to get drunk and watch sports, we will watch literally anything if you put it in a stadium
>>
If a London-based team earned a home playoff game, how would the opponent make preparations for an overseas trip in less than a week?
>>
>>63789312
>The NFL doesn't care about fans, they care about markets

No shit sherlock, the NFL has been constantly on the rise here in Germany for the last 5-10 years. It has gone from showing only the Super Bowl on TV to now showing 2 games per week and the complete play-offs plus Super Bowl.

Not to mention when the NFL Europe was still playing in the early 2000's the Rhein Fire games had 20.000 spectators each game, league record attendance.
>>
>>63789469
It isn't just English. The Germans love American football. They make up a significant part of the London crowds and had the highest attendance for the NFL Europe teams.
>>
>>63789535
Why did they fold then? Why not just start the European league up again if There's such great fan support

>Great idea, everyone! Let's spread the game internationally!
>Stop all previous international exhibitions and instead play a shitload of games in the same stadium in London every season
>>
>>63789535

But they don't need to go to Germany to attract Germans to the NFL games in Wembley, that's the point, they don't care if Germans like NFL more than Brits, London is the best place to support the NFL in terms of billionaire backers, a population big enough to support it, the capacity to have a big stadium always available.
>>
>>63789469
>English people won't give a fuck and the team will be a failure

There are more NFL fans in the UK than you think, and really London isn't particularly a lot of effort to get to for games for most of the country (especially England and S. Wales).

It's still big in Europe, too, especially Germany and a bit of Scandinavia.

NFL pls come back to Yurop, we love you.
>>
Are the Jags even making an impression on the people the UK? Any UKbros that can confirm? Are they becoming fans of the Jags or anything?
>>
>>63789657
Then why did the European football league fold? If there was such support then just start that back up
>>
>>63789550

I think this International Series is the NFL testing the waters to see if a revived NFL Europe will have a long lasting appeal.

Honestly i don't really know why they folded the NFL Europe in the first place, attendance was going up in the last years.
>>
>>63789666
Lol no

If anything they'll steal a team and rename it. Or we'll go to 34 teams.
>>
>>63789469
> Especially if they have losing seasons

Americans are a lot more win-focused and bandwagoning than Europeans.
>>
>>63789679
Well, if they're putting one in London they might as well put one in Germany too. I mean, what's the difference in travel time really?

Also, there's already talks of expanding the league to 34 teams.
>>
>>63789713
Is that how we come across because the Cleveland Indians and Detroit Lions still have a ton of fans.
>>
>>63789679
>On 29 June 2007, NFL officials announced that the NFL Europa league would be disbanded effective immediately.[4][30] The announcement came less than a week after the Hamburg Sea Devils beat the Frankfurt Galaxy 37–28 in World Bowl XV in Frankfurt in front of a crowd of 48,125.

>NFL commissioner Roger Goodell thanked the fans for their support but said it was time to develop a new international strategy, terming the move to fold NFL Europa the "best business decision".[31] The league reportedly was losing about $30 million a season.

>actually getting to see the Colts in real life

Fucking YES.
>>
>>63789718

I don't think any German city has the potential to have a long term deal with hosting an NFL team though, they don't really have any neutral venues like we do in London. The Olympicstadion is home to Hertha Berlin. The Allianz Arena is home to Bayern and nobody wants to go on holiday to the fucking ruhrpott.
>>
>>63789666

One of my friends won a VIP type thing when he went to see them and got to talk to a couple players and got loads of Jagswag, we both sort of like them and are interested in them because they're the "home team."

I honestly think that a decent fanbase would materialise if they were relocated to London. The UK is so diverse in terms of who we support and since it's so far, many of us have interests in a number of teams. I'm a Buncos fan but I also like the Chargers and have a passing interest in the lelphins and Jags.

You should probably start pronouncing Jaguar with three syllables if you really want it to take off, though.

>>63789678

I think it was down to a number of reasons. Fanbases did dwindle a bit with interest, but I think the state of the sports industry in general and even politics to some extent were mostly responsible.

Channel 4 (one of our original non-digital channels) has had NFL content for decades, and the Wembley games have a lot of exposure when they come around anyway. We also have sports leagues with many teams for youth, adults and even students (I played it at uni in the BUAFL), and I have to say that I honestly can't see it being a financial failure.

At it's core I don't think it was failing when they pulled out, it's just that it wasn't reaching out to as many people as it did originally and could have done. Germany, the UK and some other bits of Yurop have still kept a very dedicated and growing core of football fans.

We're sitting in a pool of depression most of the time, but yes we're still here.
>>
>>63789738

Yeah but you also have a lot of parity systems in place to prevent the leagues from being dominated by the same 3-4 teams every year. Not that this is inherently bad, but in European Soccer leagues people stand by their club even when they know the'll never have a realistic chance of winning the championship.
>>
>>63789783
That's because people in Europe live out their entire lives in one town.
>>
>>63788466
>lel you yurofags only have one sport, what a bunch of losers xDD
>w-why are you getiing interested in the NFL? s-stop, it's our own s-sekrit club!
Every fucking time. Make up your mind already, Cletus.
>>
>>63789818

>That's because people in Europe live out their entire lives in one town.

Got the meme wrong way round, mate. It's Americans who never go anywhere, only about 30% even have a passport.
>>
>>63789876
That's true but Americans move from city to city, state to state a lot. Basically they have no loyalty to their locations.

People in Europe, while they do travel other counties, usually live in one area.

That's what I meant.
>>
>>63789783
>>63789818

Don't forget that most of Euro fans would primarily want to just watch a game of football rather than watch a team play. Unless a team was actually located to London (which would be bretty cool for every UK and even continental fan, since it's basically the NFL setting up shop and giving something to us), there's never going to be loyalty to teams as much as in burgerland where you'd be born in the same state or have associations with one and therefore follow a team.

The way I see it, this is a good thing because it promotes "general interest" in NFL rather than team interest, and people can get into any team for any number of reasons and follow them. If a team was to be set up in London, then I think you'd get the best of both worlds because you'd have a core team fanbase AND keep this general interest in US teams because they'll all still be there and on the tv.

Also, football's still something a bit "exotic," and honestly easily beats most of our sports.

Hopefully it'll be just like the NBA and in the future a bunch of white guys will come dominate usual black positions.

Gridiron sounds pretty homosexual though.

>Association football = soccer
>Rugby football = rugby
>American football = football, since 'American' would be hilarious but stupid

I annoy people if they think I'm doing it deliberately but I don't even like soccer so it rarely comes up. I'm not calling it 'American football' every time, and 'gridiron' sounds weird in my opinion family.

I'm not one of those raging cunts that implies that burgers are wrong or that language has rules, so I just like to make it easy and call it what they call it since I talk about it a lot.
>>
>>63789952
Isn't it the other way around? I thought the league was predominantly white in circa 1950, and then, when black people stopped being treated like animals, they came in and took most positions that require pure athleticism, while NBA was mostly black form the start
>>
>>63790063
There's more good European players in the NBA than white American players

>It just fucks over the local fans of these teams.

Most NFL teams have way more fans than they could ever fit into their stadium, 90% of us wouldn't have been able to go to the game anyway. To use the most extreme example, the Dallas Cowboys play in a metropolitan area with 3 million people and are by far the most popular team in a state with 28 million people. Jerryworld has a capacity of around 80,000. For the vast majority of fans, the only thing a London game changes is what time they watch the game on TV.
>>
>>63790124

That's actually a really good point, I've never thought of that before.
