Seriously how fucking pathetic is that? And I've seen it a million fucking times. As a Pats fan, I hang around Pats forums and shit, and I see it there just as much as I see it here. I just don't get it.

Scarletism knows his stuff
God, I'm so sorry, but I must keep posting this, because if I don't, something Scarletism worked really hard on will die
So yeah, just a quick reference thingy since we're at the season halfway point at week 8 now. This is every team's strength of schedule change sorted by rank distance. For example, the Titans had the 25th hardest schedule so far (looking only at the games every team played), and they will have the 6th hardest schedule from here on out (looking only at the games left to play for every team), so the difference is -19. Obviously a negative number means the second half of the season will be harder, and positive numbers mean it will be easier, statistically speaking anyways.
30 Kansas City Chiefs
28 Indianapolis Colts
27 Jacksonville Jaguars
15 Baltimore Ravens
15 New Orleans Saints
15 San Francisco 49ers
14 Washington Redskins
13 Green Bay Packers
11 St. Louis Rams
8 Oakland Raiders
8 Pittsburgh Steelers
6 Seattle Seahawks
5 Carolina Panthers
5 Cleveland Browns
5 Detroit Lions
4 Dallas Cowboys
0 Miami Dolphins
0 New York Jets
0 Philadelphia Eagles
-2 Buffalo Bills

-11 Tampa Bay Buccaneers
-12 New England Patriots

There's nobody better in the NFL at limiting Brady than rex ryan and he still scored 20 with a beat up offense.
The question you have to ask yourself is "can my team score on their top-ranked defense enough to get a big lead? Can my defense stop Brady in the last 2 minutes if it's a close game down to the wire?"
Nobody's done it yet this year. Nobody's done it since last year's game at KC without the pats intentionally resting starters.
Your odds aren't good, Denver - especially not with a scrub backup starting at QB.

>>63769890
I unironically feel like the Patriots were exposed tonight. Granted there was some refball involved it looked like the pressure the Bills put on Brady made him unable to make the throws he usually makes. Even the quick ones. They didn't look like the juggernaut that they've been much of the season. How much of that is the fact they're going to have nobody at WR soon who knows. 16-0 not happening. 14-2 losses to Buncos and Jests.
Pic unrelated.
>>63769927
>GG Allin
>ever unrelated
>>63769927
If anything today and the giants game show me the opposite.
1) Pats have a great defense. The D wins them games even when the O struggles. That's a big fuckin deal.
2) The O is clutch. Even when they struggle all game, they still make winning plays when they have to to get it done.
3) Opponents have no room for error. They have to play a nearly perfect game JUST to get a small lead, and if they let up at all, then that lead is GONE
Pats should adjust and only get better moving forward. The rest of the league is on notice.
>>63769927
I don't think they were exposed more that injuries are slowly taking their toll on them.
NFL is very much survival of the fittest, hard to win if you lose 3-4 of your best 8-10 players,
>>63769945
>no room for error
>bills make dumb penalties out the ass, drop passes, and turn the ball over
>>63769961
They lost.
>>63769971
but if they made mistakes the pats should have won by 30 points according to your logic
>>63769977
They made mistakes and lost, that is the logic he is using. Doesn't matter if you win by 30 or 3, a win is a win.
>>63769977
Not at all, because the pats struggled too. See: strong D, clutch O. Made the plays they needed to win. Bills needed to be perfect, and they want. Add one to the L column
This really isn't hard to understand.
>mfw i found out the patriots have the best scoring defense in the league
>>63769989
>>63769991
BUT YOU just said that there is no room for error
assuming each mistake the bills made was a pats touchdown, the bills would have won by 3 scores so there WAS room for error
not hard to follow
>>63769994
Granted I didn't wake up at 3 for this game, but im still confused by your math since the pats didn't score on all the bills turnovers, and yet they still won
>>63769994
Are you mentally retarded? BILLS LOST. They had no room for error, but committed errors. Therefore, they lost. In fact they never even had a lead despite the struggles of the Patriots offense.
>>63770004
but every mistake the bills made equaled a touchdown because they lost an opportunity to score meaning if the bills made no mistakes, they would have won 40-13
>>63770005
yes, the bills lost, but they have room for error, since if they made 1 mistake they would of still won 33-13
>>63770012
Not making mistakes doesn't mean scoring a touchdown on every drive, retard. The other team has their defense on the field playing the game too.
>>63770023
but how do you know 100% that they aren't going to score if they didn't make the mistake, you have to assume that they will score, otherwise it counts as a mistake and thus increasing the room for error by the winning team
>>63770031
Fuck you're retarded. Look, dude, even if they made no mistakes and New England struggled, they would still have to contend with a great D and a clutch O. THAT is why opponents have no room for error.
I hope Brady is as salty as I am that that TD was taken away. Will get him , and hopefully the Oline too, into focus for Denver.
>>63770042
that makes absolutely no sense
I'm just salty that Gostkowski missed a 50+ yard FG that cost me my fantasy game, lost by 3 points.

Kek do you think before you type, pal?
The bills made mistakes and lost. Yes it was a close game, but how much better could the bills have played? They were even on turnovers, got a nice phantom play stoppage from the refs, and kept gronkowski to 1/3 of his yards in the first meeting against the bills this year. This was all while the bills were playing a team that is expecting Jamie Collins back and, well, you know about the offense.
The point is that at a time when the patriots are at their weakest, they still gut out the w.

As a Packers fan I like the patriots because the amount of butthurt they generate. Delicious tears everytime they win.
That aside, honestly, the patriots going 18-0 is the best for maximum tears this season.
>18-1 repeat
>18-1 repeat with Eli beating patriots(Still not out of the running yet)
>18-1 repeat with the panthers going undefeated
>18-1 panthers losing 1 regular season game but wins it all making the pats go 18-1 while patfans try and spam 18-1 back defensively crying
>18-1 with queens winning(sure my own tears would be in this but still cause a lot of butthurt)
>18-1 with packers winning(less likely than giants winning tbqhf [to be quite honest family])
Or finally
>19-0
Fans of every single franchise on /sp/ except the patriots have tears escaping every one of their orifices for a week, or a month, while Brady now has 5 rings, 2 undefeated regular seasons, and 1 undefeated season.
Oh, and the worst of it all and to top it all of Brady's undefeated season will have zero (0) asterisks next to it.

Made a better rating system to describe the results of the season so far based on who has beaten who and no other factors. Scrapped the PAR system, it was too unwieldy. Note that this is supposed to be a descriptive stat, not a predictive one.
The basis for the methodology was derived from these three ideas:
1. Winning should make a team's rating go up and losing should make it go down, never the reverse.
2. Teams with high ratings should fall harder because of a loss compared to what they can gain by winning. The opposite is true for teams with low ratings.
3. The results should be recursive so that all games in the season are held to the current context of results, not the context at the time.

I hate that term because it often implies you can go up after losing, but something like that. it's more like it punishes you either way for losing, but it's even worse if you lose to shit. I couldn't make it work otherwise, believe me I tried. at first I tried making it so that losing was more of a static hit to your rating, and wins were progressively scaled so that beating a great team counted for more than beating a bad team. unfortunately, when applying the recursive steps the numbers immediately started diverging into random nonsense rather than converge onto one specific number for each team. I realized that I had to either progressively scale the rating boost/drop for BOTH wins and losses, or for neither. with that I tried to see if doing neither would work first, but it ended up converging every team onto exactly .500 instead which is useless. what I posted above is what it looks like when teams get more of a boost beating a good team, less of a boost beating a bad team, more of a drop losing to a bad team, and less of a drop losing to a good team. as a result, undefeated teams automatically converge on perfect because their rating can only go up no matter who they played. if there were any unvictorious teams, they'd be at dead 0 as well.

Osweiler can ruin both Peyton and Brady in a single game
The Chiefs have been sneaky good. So many people, myself included discounted them because of their record, but have you seen who they've played.
>DEN
>GB
>CIN
>Desperate Chicago
>MIN
It's completely understandable why they went 1-5, they went against 4 of the best teams in the league.
They're definitely not a Top 2 tier team, but they're good enough for to lose in the WC, or beat a downward trending playoff team.
>>63772649
not really (not as-is anyways) because of the inclusiveness of the NFL league structure compared to Div-1A. if they only played each other ever and that was it, then I guess it would work it'd just have over a hundred teams in the pool instead. I'd have to heavily modify it to do what you're asking, either to account for only partial schedules being calculated or for teams outside the relevant set somehow impacting the results.
>>63772653
I don't like its methodology, and it's already been done anyways, so no. if you know someone that already calculated it for the NFL as of right now feel free to post it here, but I personally wouldn't care.
>>63769890
>Packers +20
I hate you so much Sneak.
>Adam Schefter @Adam Schefter 23s
Reports are Danny Amendola has suffered a torn ACL. Aaron Dobson with a broken foot. Both expected to go on IR.

Packers are 2-3 against the Lions the past 3 seasons.

Why the fuck would you support a team owned by a kike?
>>63772791
since Rex became a head coach in the NFL
he's like 4-11 against Bill all time
>>63772763
>There you go. That's how you pick games
>pick games
you are missing the entire point of what I was talking about then, it had nothing to do with picking games. there is an important difference between:
>stats that are descriptive
>stats that are predictive
>descriptive stats that happen to have a high correlative trend with actual results despite a lack of direct causality
the ratings above are designed as the first case, you're changing topics to the third one.
>>63772649
>>63772711
on second thought I could do it with just the "top 32" teams so long as those 32 teams are already decided beforehand, but the results wouldn't illustrate which 32 teams in college football have had the best results so far this season (and the hierarchy within that 32), it would just illustrate how those 32 teams fared against each other. if that's fine by you then I can do that, but it's a pretty fucking huge disclaimer the way I see it.
>>63772816
>feel when owner is a kike hater

the NFL is owned by kikes
>>63772154

Man the Patriots would have had an easy 19-0 this year if Lewis and edlemen didn't die
Feels fucky man p
>>63772692
Yea let's completely ignore the NE defense which is one of the best in the league against sub-20 ranked Denver offense
>>63772875
Henry Ford actually had a newspaper called something like "Jews: The Man's Common Enemy"
Hopefully these transgressions doesn't upset master Goodell.
>>63772826
Rex should start calling Bill dad its getting pretty pathetic how often he gets sonned
>>63772914
It was the "Dearborn What the fuck ever"
And it featured his hit series "The International Jew". Good read. I think that man was from the future.
>>63772869
well I got all the up to date results then, I can just apply the same algorithm, but it hinges on having to decide on which 32 teams get put in the sample to begin with, it doesn't select those 32 beforehand. so unless you got a list already, I don't really feel like wading through exercises today trying to determine who should even get included. I'm not really sure why it has to be 32 though, did you just assume that because the NFL one is? I can change the size of the sample set easily, it's just that once that set is decided, it can only include results between teams that are all in that set already.
>>63770665
We won't know about the asterisk until we see if the get caught at whatever it is they are doing this year.

CAROLINAFAGS BTFO
>Already getting lobbied to place the Panthers over the Patriots. The reason? Carolina's blowout win over the Redskins coupled with New England's close call versus the Bills. What's ironic about this argument is that Bill Belichick's group won in the same fashion Monday night that Carolina has employed much of this year. Think about the Panthers' one-score wins: over the Texans, Saints, Seahawks, Colts and Packers. Sure, there are fine football teams in that group, but it's not as though the Panthers have sprinted through their schedule. Oh, and by the way, the Patriots are the defending Super Bowl champs.

Pppd is how you determine who will win games versus who.
Meaning it's a power scale bro. You rate each teams pppd and you get a true power rating for a season.
Go to a 4 week read to get a more current

Is that his tail?
>A new take on the inadvertent whistle: Ref may have been "skittish" when players approached because in week 1 he was trampled by a Ravens player and suffered nine broken ribs, a broken collarbone, and a partially collapsed lung.
Do the panthers have yiff parties after games?
>>63773252
I don't think you quite understand how deep the KC RB roster is, Jamaal Charles is a legendary running back. But, even our backup that we cut from last year would be a #1 starter for at least 20 other teams.
Not to mention what West and Ware have been doing in Charles' absence.
